The only heros here are the Ticos, Colombia didnt do a shit. beat few crappy teams and lost to the first serious one crying the referee like sore losers.

They beat Italy and Uruguay and made a goalless draw against the team who raped Spain and scored 12 goals in the last four matches. All this with no world class players.

World Class? not even decent players, only Keylor Navas is world class + Ruiz and Campbell good enough to play at a midtable team from a strong european league.

It's hard to compare the quality and performace of a player or team in two different competitions... The WC is too short for wating some big improvement, so the status of 'world class' is earned by the performance in this short tournament. With that in mind and just comparing the opportunites created, the Tico team had a great first round, but their style was a bit off in the second. Look:

Against uruguay cr: (shots 12/on goal 4) u: (9/5)
Againts Italy cr: (shots 10/on goal 6) i: (10/6)
Againts England cr: (shots 4/on goal 3) e: (8/3)

They were not only good defendign very well (the less beaten keep in te tournament) but also producing the same amount of opportunities. But something was off in the second:

Againts Greece cr: (shots 6/on goal 2) g: (24/13)
Againts Netherlands cr: (shots 10/on goal 6) n: (20/15)

From my perspective, Pinto sacrificed with no justification Campbell, lefting him all alone, and Ruiz with too much defensive effort. They quit playing not for the win, but for the attack, even the counterattack...
