Good Luck against the Commies on Wednesday; If you win you'll put both yourselves and Croatia thru, effectively settling Group E. I'd also like to congratulate the win against the French in the IRB World Cup semis (6)

A couple of shameful accidents have happened in Moscow :kader: During the first one six Englishmen were beaten up at night in different parts of the city. Looks like some morons decided to rob the foreigners thinking they won't be able to put up resistance (a couple of them were drunk). The second one looks much more shameful: one of the bars where English fans (there were women among them!) were staying was attacked by a group of 20 men. They used mugs, chairs and tables against the English. Some men got cuts :kader:
And that's after English fans layed a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier! :kader:
Shame on all the Moscowers :kader:

aweful performance in the second half guys....England deserved to lose in this match...........But I am hopeful of seeing them in Euro 2008.
Bring in Mourinho....

Starting Rooney over Crouch is pretty much inexcusable. Crouch is superior in every way. He's even a better person.

From the Guardian

Reaction: As the Russians exult, several England players crumple to the artificial turf in disappointment. Ferdinand and Gerrard stagger around looking bewildered, but the explanation is really quite simple: they failed to take the chances they had to kill the game, and then, after Guus Hiddink introduced a lanky, energetic striker and the Russians cranked up the tempo, England bottled it, their defenders losing their poise and midfielder (and Rooney) backtracking to get in the way rather than help out. "GLenn Hoddle and Jamie Redknapp are speechless here in the studio" says Richard Keys on SKy, showing that every cloud has a silver lining.

I don't agree with David Platt on many things, but he's bloody right when he said that the one thing that stands out about this qualifying campaign was Macedonia at home.

Going to Russia is never easy.

Bobby you can't compare guys with different position. We all know Rooney is much more talented. There should be no doubt about that.

Tom good teams never have it easy they make it easy...

I'm sorry i forgot you were retarded.

If you're gonna post in the England thread, and, to be honest i'm not entirely sure you should be allowed to, at least post something remotely useful.

Crouch is a better attacker (.57 goals/game to .33 for England), a harder worker (covers more ground per 90 minutes than any player in the Premier League not named Toure), a better defender, and he isn't that much worse at passing. He's also well liked by everyone he's ever played with, Rooney can't say that much (Ronaldo, Campbell, Ashley Cole).

Don't let my facts get in the way of your hate though.

The problem with Crouch is that everyone thinks it's a fluke when he scores.

Haha, Crouch scored! Seen the size of 'im?

Ronaldo? Surely you're joking, they've got a great relationship. As for Campbell and Cashley, they're twats anyway so who cares?

I think any manager in the world (bar Benitez) will tell you Rooney is better than Crouch.

even Benitez will admit that Rooney is better...If he is so good then why does he not get a starting position in Liverpool????

Yellow Card
I can't believe this team gets tactics so horribly wrong so often....atleast that's been the case with the last 2 managers anyhow. The team has been below par for the past 5 years and the last good game England played ended

England 5-1 Germany in 2001

You should be able to play a more attacking game more often...there's something going wrong in the back room and for the most part I blame the manager. These last two guys have butchered things on several occassions. It seems that (not all) but NEARLY every game since the above one has been rubbish. Some teams have been so sub-standard in quality that they should have been beaten by a comparable scoreline to that Munich final. I've noticed that when it comes down to the crunch games, there's NO WAY for England to win UGLY...not against BAD teams, not against GOOD teams..NO WAY!!!! And that's a shame. See France (or should I say Zidane) 2004, Portugal 2004 and 2006, and I can remember a few DOOM AND GLOOM BBC Sport headlines (can't remember the teams though) during recent qualifying campaigns. Exception was Argentina in 2002.

PS: You didn;t have the game under control AT ANY POINT last night....they just hadn;t turned the screw fully. And Rooney is better but, just like at his club, Crouch is not given proper playing time.
