So Ozil has been playing awesome and i missed it? Even though I've seen Schalkes games? C'mon man he hasn't been anything special at all.

I mean Bremen yeah, i forgot he plays there now. :D
Probably because i never liked him to begin with but than again i never like any Schalke players anyways. (H)

Honestly though this is a friendly so i would be crying over it so much. We are trying new players and there is nothing wrong about that. I am positive that if Mesut keeps playing well he will have his chance.

I was surprised Schalke let him go, he was meant to be one of, if not the most promising youngster in the bundesliga. I knew he wanted to leave but that doesn't always mean the clubs let them, otherwise Ronaldo would have been at Madrid now.

It's actually easy to explain why he left Schalke. He had played like 10 Bundesliga matches and when Schalke wanted to extend his contract her (or more specificially his father) wanted several millions per year. This is way too much. So they suspended him and sold him to Bremen later.

Walcott's out with a dislocated shoulder. That's a pity since I was looking forward to watching him play in an England shirt again.
What do you all reckon the lineup will be?

I don't think Capello will pick this team but If it were me I would pick:

Carson
Mancienne, Richards, Terry, Bridge
Wright-Phillips, Carrick, Bullard, A.Young
Bent, Agbonlahor

subs: James, Johnson, Davies, Downing, Barry, Crouch, Defoe

definitely give Agbonlahor and Young starts seeing how good their recent form is.

Hopefully Michael(Mancienne) and Bullard get a run out as well.
I'd put Defoe up front with Gabby and play Barry alongside Carrick.

Bent hasn't convinced me yet, he's been scoring for Spurs, but I'd rather have Crouch on apart from Defoe and Gabby.

Definitely not Carson in goal, James has been decent recently, but we all know what he's capable of in matches like these.:D

I'd try someone else in goal this time. I mean it is only a friendly.
Mind you, if we lose I'm fu*ked for the next 6 months since I live in Germany.
It'll be like not getting to the Euros all over again.

Great to win that one. Capello has been fantastic for us, he's given the players confidence, which looked impossible 12 months ago. I felt really sorry for Scott Carson over the mistake. It could be either his fault or Terry's- but looking at the replay i think that it was Carson's because he came for the ball and then went back. Terry should have probably just booted the ball away but I don't really blame him, He played very well alongside Upson and other than that they looked quite solid. I think Carson can do it for England- he just need a lucky break to help improve his confidence. Personally I'd like to see Joe Hart involved when he's fit again. Barry and Carrick looked a decent combination in the middle and everyone else played pretty well. Having said that I didn't really feel Germany played like a team.

Carson has not got the nerve for International football. Although Terry could have cleared the ball, it was obvious to all by the way he was shielding the ball that Carson was expected to collect the ball.

Carson came off his line to collect and then lost his head, and it was his indecision once more that cost us. Terry is a big man for taking all the blame but really we all know what happened. So Carson should never again get another chance. He is crap and now hopefully Fabio will accept that.

I have heard so many positive comments about the game today, and I find it very difficult to agree with most of the comments. I hear that Carrick had a great game. Not in the match I watched did he have a great game. Apart from 3 accurate passes and two winning tackles, I thought he was fortunate that his many mistakes didn't cost us.

Too many mistakes throughout the game for me and most of the time he looked very out of place. If the German midfield would have been better, Carrick could have cost us a few times last night. Nowhere near good enough to stand in for Lampard or Gerrard. If he ever becomes a first choice midfield player for England, it will be a travesty. Overated.

Johnson is not good enough. There is no point whatsoever in using a full back who is good going forward but cannot defend very well. That's Johnson. Worked hard and tried hard but not really good enough.

Downing, of whom I am not a fan, had a good game. Not great but good. Shouldn't be a first choice player though.

I still enjoyed the game and the win of course, but if Frings, Ballack, Lahm, Podolski and Klose would have started it would have been a different affair. Although it would have also been a different affair if our missing players would have started too.

So this was more like our second string versus Germany's second string. We were much better that much is obvious. To be honest I thought the team that Loew put out did not have a clue. Obviously because they have not played enough together to gell well enough, and also because a lot of their players simply lack the experience of International football.

They were poor and we were not. That's it really.

With Kahn and even Lehmann not available to Loew any more, who will be Germany's first choice GK? The one who started the game last night was dreadful and the sub GK was not a lot better. Has Loew got a first choice GK apart from these two guys?

Rene Adler? I thought he's a decent keeper for the Germans(watched a lot of Schalke last season in the CL). I think he had an off day, since at his best, he really is a fine goalkeeper. But apart from him, I don't see any other German keepers coming close to Kahn and Lehmann.

edit: haha, seems like i mistook him for Neuer. my bad.

I thought they missed creativity in midfield, without Ballack and Frings to pull the strings in midfield.
Good result for England tho. Fabio's already proving he's the real deal for the England, lets hope this result translates into more success for the WC qualifiers.

You're talking about Neuer who plays for Schalke mate, Adler plays for Bayer Leverkusen. And yes, that was his first ever "clanger" if I'm not forgetting anything.
He will definitely be the next German keeper, the only guy who might come in contention is Enke from Hannover but he's injured at the moment.
I really like the way we just don't hoof the ball upfield all the time like we used to. And I reckon our central midfield should be Gerrard partnered with either Carrick or Barry, both of whom played a decent game IMO.
I didn't notice the mistakes you were referring to pede, though I might just have overlooked them.

Well, I must admit man, I was looking for the mistakes as much as the good points. I watched and absorbed everything Carrick did last night, because I really needed to make up my mind on this guy.

I've watched Carrick for years now, and of course I've seen him lay off a decent pass now and again, and I've seen him put in a good tackle too, but so do many other players who, perform better and more consistantly than he does.

I just do not get the overwhelming vote of confidence this guy gets from everyone. He is a very average player. Someone today called him a technical genius with incredible vision. He cannot be talking about the same Carrick surely.

Sorry, but I just don't and have never, seen much that is special about Carrick, and I certainly would not want him as one of the first choice eleven England players.

Fabio will stick to the starting 11 that has played in the last four victorious games for England. The setup does not need changing, and most of those players who played last night will return to where they belong. Back to the subs bench.

They are good second string players, but no more than that.

Actually Adler (the first half goalie) is really good. He basically made his first mistake in his pro career yesterday.

I like Adler too, BUT i believe the future number one of the manchaft should be Manuel Neuer. I've seen both players perform for their respective teams and i believe Neuer has that X factor than Adler might lack. I said might because that was his first ever bad game.

Don't know who called this a good game, but i am with Pete on this one. This was a horrible game to watch. Both teams showed no creativity whatsoever. I know this were their B teams but still, considering the history we should have been awarded with a better show. I want my beer $ back.:clapwap:

I have to say I disagree with some of your comments. I felt Carrick retained the ball reasonably well and produced a good performance. I think that he is consistent, he's been an ever present fixture for Manchester United since joining and has won two league titles and a champions league. ok he's not one of the most talked about players in the team but everyone plays their role and personally I'm a great fan of Carrick (slightly biased but oh well).

We need a balanced midfield and it's obviously not Lampard and Gerrard together. I'd say Lampard, mainly because Gerrard hasn't impressed me at all of late for England and Lampard has looked very good at club level and the better of the two in recent internationals. Then there is Barry or Carrick I would say. Hargreaves can't retain any fitness so lets rule him out of the debate for the moment. Even if Carrick doesn't start we need cover if Barry is injured and Carrick is the player to do that. So for South Africa I would say the 4 CM's should be Barry, Lampard, Carrick, Gerrard.

About Carson- all I can say in his defence is that he has had two tough opponents in Croatia and Germany. I think he's worth a chance in an easier game, I don't know who else we're playing in a friendly other than Spain- a game which I wouldn't play him in.

I notice you aren't happy with Glen Johnson, I'm not convinced either I have to admit, but the problem is who else can we play there? Gary Neville is too old and Wes Brown can be inconsistent. I guess Mancienne may be ready in time for the world cup or Richards might get back to his best form.

On German keepers, Adler is at Bayer Leverkusen the league leaders in Germany so he must be fairly good. Neuer I've seen and he looked a good keeper to me. It's between those two I would think, or possibly Enke. Klose did play the first half in Berlin, Ballack was a miss but again the players in there were of a reasonable standard- Rolfes (leverkusen), Jones (schalke) and Trochowski (HSV) are all at good clubs.

Anyway i can't wait for the next international game.
