The England National team thread

I think it's fair to say things are looking much better than they have done in years. I believe the attitude is right now that form players get a chance and not just a small collection of overpaid celebrities with their WAG's who couldn't care less about England (like Sven and co. at the WC '06). If things carry on like this the we have a fantastic chance of getting to South Africa.

The FA need to realise that getting to the Quarter Finals is not really a failure, and give the manager time. There are teams with so many flair players like Brazil and Argentina can we really demand that we beat them? I would say not and don't see any shame in losing out to these teams. What I want, and probably most England fans would agree, is to see players who feel proud and honoured to wear the England shirt, and I think some of them do now Capello is here.

I finding it interesting that Villa have 6 players on the team.

Even more interesting that out of the 46 players from both teams over half play for English clubs.

Liverpool doesn't have one English player called up but 5 Spanish :icon_spin: I guess Gerard would normally be in there.

Now this is more like it, more talk about England, less about Spain :innocent_smile_1:

Sign of the times. Now we just have more foreigners in the PL and less English. Get rid of Benitez from Pool I say, he just has a load of Spanish players. Wenger loves the French players but at least he has a few young english players coming through.

Thank you MON though. He's got Villa competitive and with English players.

liverpool - gerrard, caragher (he is retired)
arsenal - walcott

so they both have just one potential player.

chelsea - Terry, a.Cole, Lampard. j.Cole

ManU - Ferdinand, Brown, Nevile, carrick, scholes, Hargreeves and Rooney (as well as some british players giggs, oshea, evans)

if you look at other great teams in europe normally the local boys are 4 and maximum 5 in starting 11.

Barca- Valdes-Pique- Poyul-Xavi -Iniesta

+ Lee Martin, Danny Welbeck, Ben Foster, Danny Simpson, Fraizer Campbell, Febian Brandy all doing well plus others.

Then you go the British players like Jonny Evans, Darron Gibson & Craig Cathcart.

All of which are doing quite well... some better then others.
