I don't agree because someone like Carrick or Hargreaves have a different role to Lampard or Gerrard so we need one of each.

I think its because Capello plays with a diamond formation. And when Rooney plays he usually drops deep, more like an AM. Gerrard is used to playing with Torres as a second striker, that leaves Frank to do the defensive job alongside the holding midfielder(either Carrick(who isn't a DM), Barry or Hargreaves(injured).
Out wide, I think it should be Walcott and Cole(tried and tested) but Lennon's been impressing lately.

It might be worth trying out Lennon seeing as Walcott is injured. I'm hoping we get the result so we get confidence for Ukraine. That's gonna be quite a tough game I think.

Our U21's won 5-0 against Norway today!
The goals came from F. Campbell, Huddlestone, Derbyshire(2) and Adam Johnson.
It was only a friendly but sounds very encouraging.

I'm not too convinced about the midfield either, Gerard is on form and he should be playing in his position even though I'm a Lampard fan. And SWP is on better form then Lennon on right wing. I'd even put Crouch in instead of Heskey despite him scoring, he has I think 2 goals in his last 2.

Like the new jerseys even if it's too much white.

Lol at Slovakia's unability to deal with the wing. England are putting so many crosses in.

Great result against Slovakia. It was important to bounce back from the defeat to Spain. It's a shame we lost 3 strikers to injury. We definitely need to call someone else up as a backup. I'm not a great fan of the new kit because I liked the old one.

I thought Rooney, Gerrard, Lampard and Beckham were all sensational for that game. Lennon had a fine game too. I wonder who'll partner Rooney for the next game up front. Maybe Gerrard could play as second striker? Or call up Agbonlahor.

Agbonlahor has been called up to replace Bent who got injured in training, and both Ferdinand and Peter Crouch are fit for the game. Looks like Crouch will partner Rooney in attack.

Yeah, Agbonlahor was supposedly injured when the under-21 came calling (obviously wasn't injured though) shame about Bent as it would have been nice to have 4 strikers available. Not fully convinced by Crouch but I hope he can do the business tonight. Rooney is on fire for England so I hope he keeps that up.

The only outstanding player in the Ukraine side that springs to mind is Tymoschuk because Shevchenko isn't really that great any more. Voronin has been good in the Bundesliga but we didn't see that kind of form from him in England. I think we have enough to win this game.

Voronin is in stunning form at the moment. We should be wary, though we have enough quality to get a clean sheet.
