We were so poor at the start of the game, when we got that goal back followed by that lamp "goal". I thought great were pressing hard we may just win this back. But the team that played harder for longer won in the end but the first two German goals were right clangers. England were just poor, consistently poor since the start of the competition.

I cant wait till we get a decent keeper again.

What baffles me is the amount of Liverpool players we have on the team through the competition when they came in god damn 8th place or whatever it was. Clearly they were showing a complete lack of form.

Bloody carragher and Johnson are a liability. We played so much better in the qualifiers when capello was mixing things up a little.

Rooney has be well out of character... I don't think he's scored a goal since that ankle problem, before which he was unstoppable. I hope there isn't a injury else United maybe in trouble..

Live and learn I guess. onto the Euro's with any looking we may reach a round further... or not.

Capello has to go. He totally failed to select anything resembling our best side. Why the **** would you not select Crouch against the likes of Algeria? Why would you pick Heskey against anyone, ever? Did anyone see his attempt at a step over where he trod on the ball and nearly fell over, followed by blazing the cross into the crowd? I think I'm actually more skilled with a football than he is, and he inexplicably plays for our national side.

There were wrong selections for the squad, wrong starting 11, arguably wrong formation (he should have at least tried Gerrard off Rooney ffs), wrong substitutions. In fact I am struggling to think of anything Capello did right.

He also didn't make any decisive substitutions quickly enough. I'd have taken Rooney and Heskey off vs. Algeria on about 65 mins and put both Defoe and Crouch on. Why do managers take so long to do something when it's obviously not working? Rooney played like **** the whole tournament. I would have benched him against Slovenia then brought him on for half an hour at the end to see if that could fire him up.

Of course the players were poor too, and we were horribly cheated which could clearly have changed the game, but what the **** was Capello doing with his selections? You might as well have a remote control tree trunk than pick Heskey.

I'll tell you what it is, this day has been coming for twenty years. Ever since England were eliminated in Italia 90 we've somehow believed we have a devine right to win the World Cup. Fuelled by the media, who turn on a dime - either we're world beaters - or we're awful.

A game administered by a bunch of brown suited idiots in their ivory tower, driven by advertising revenue. Everything the FA does falls to pieces - they couldn't even build a bloody stadium!

So they pay foreign managers to fix it, at exhorbitant rates of pay. The press applies the pressure on any man who takes the helm - they practically pick the team. The prime case of this is the Lampard / Gerrard puzzle - would any other nation try to accomodate both? Certainly Spain don't with Xabi, Iniesta and Cesc.

We get a promising youngster and immediately throw the weight of the nation on them - we could well have destroyed Wayne Rooney by heaping the whole fortunes of the team upon him (whilst not playing to his strengths) Diego Maradona in 1986 form couldn't have carred this sorry bunch to anything.

This is the wakeup call, this is the day that has been coming.

And the FA need to wake up.

With all the media pressure they are getting, who wouldn't start smoking? But really, i have been to Europe about 2 month ago and it seems like over half the population smokes down there. Same observations have been confirmed by a number of my friends that went traveling there over the summer.

Bothroyd, Henderson, Smalling and Andy Carroll have all been called up for England's friendly. Well, at least Capello is doing this now when he should and not during a tournament. I think one of Capello's biggest mistakes during the 2010 World Cup was that he called up players who never even played a match for the team before. He never even properly tested them at friendlies.

Of the players that made the Capello's 23, only Warnock, Dawson and Hart had less than 5 caps for England and none of those players even played at the World Cup. Dawson only mad the squad because Rio got hurt and Warnock was included thanks to Bridge's retirement.
