Which says a lot about the current state of rock music

Definitely. They had so many great songs back in the late 60's early 70's, but they're rarely mentioned in the same breath as The Beatles, the The Rolling Stones or even the Beach Boys. Maybe it's because they had a southern flavor to their music so they didn't fit the true "rock star" image.xxxFLYERxxx said:C.C.R

Nine Inch Nails case probably yes, as tickets to their gigs in the UK this year sold out in less than 10minutes.
Soundgarden case is abnormal. Arguably the most talented band to come out of the grunge phenomenom, yet they never sold as much as Pearl Jam. Hell even Nirvana never sold as much as Pearl Jam.
None of them is known whatsoever in Portugal though, we're probably the most tasteless people around concerning music.

Goldfinger is my nominee to underrated bands. Without Goldfinger there is no Good Charlotte/Simple Plan/Mest/etc and subsequently there is no emo boom today (which I think capitalized on pop punk's popularity and then took it in a new, ****tier direction). Goldfinger was fantastic in their first two albums, the self titled one and Hang Ups. And they never had a whiff of a hit, at best "Superman" was on the first Tony Hawk game and "Here in your bedroom" was the breakout, but they got no where near the pub they should have.
Shindig said:Arcade Fire - Britain likes them. Lots of indie kids are buying Funeral. Hell, I'd plump for it if I wasn't such a pedantic penis. Still, I guess you could argue they're underrated. You could argue that for most of the indie bands that come out. There's only a small percentage that explode and become scum. For example, the Killers, Razorlight and... erm... Razorlight again. God, I hate Razorlight.
At the Drive-In - Yes, most certainly underrated. I guess they were never around long enough to gather steam, though. Now that they've split into two bands, it's sad to see the more accepted side of it (The Mars Volta) have fallen in with the NME crowd and become utter c*nts. Up Sparta.
Pixies - Yes. Nice to see them touring again, too.
I didn't even know who the Strokes were until a couple of months ago. I guess they're bigger in Europe.xxxFLYERxxx said:As far as where i come from, the Strokes are underrated. Nobody knows about them here for some reason.
INFESTA said:About the Grateful Dead: ShiftyPowers, download NOFX's gig in Koln, Germany, back in 95 (when Fat Mike had dreads). They talk about Garcia's death and it's the funniest thing I've ever heard!
