The next Maiden appearance at a World Cup

Considering that every World Cup has had the first appearance of at least one national team; I've thought of the following question:

Who will be the next team to make their first World Cup Finals appearance? Will it be for 2014?

For 2014:
Bosnia and Montenegro are top of their groups in European qualifying.
Panama are the only team in the final hexagonal in CONCACAF to have never qualified for the World Cup.
Uzbekistan are top of Group A in AFC, while it is very close in both Asian groups. Qatar and Lebanon in Group A and Jordan and Oman in Group B have never qualified for a World Cup.
Benin, Congo, Ethiopia, Libya and Zambia are top of their respective groups in CAF, and there may be the possibility for two debutants to be paired in the fifth round playoff.
Venezuela is the only South American team that has never qualified for a World Cup and are in fourth of the four direct places for CONMEBOL.

Well the competition is so weak in Asia any team could make it through really. I'm wondering if we will ever see a national from the Indian sub continent (I know India qualified once but they didnt play)

Zambia were ANC winners but have flopped this time, but again there is usually a wild card from Africa so maybe...

Montenegro seem to have good players coming through, annoying they are in England's group.

Belarus have got to be getting better, what with BATE doing well in Europe and the rise of money in football in Eastern Europe.

Azerbaijan will probably bribe their way in.

Considering the USA won't qualify, I'd say Panama has very good odds. Bosnia always has decent players and their pitch is complete shit, so they have a shot. Montenegro looks okay and could qualify at England's expense. Uzbekistan has good odds, they've seemed to be under the radar in FM for a few years now; I wouldn't tip any debut middle east team to qualify for decades. For Africa I like Congo the most of the teams you mentioned, but Zaire HAS qualified. Unless you mean Congo Brazzaville?

Well you'll get a middle east debut in one decade maximum, unless the Qatari hosting falls through.

Asia isn't that weak - Japan, Korea and Australia are decent and we only get 4.5 spots. So the last 1.5 usually has to come from semi-regulars in Saudi Arabia, Iran, China, North Korea etc.

Then there is Bahrain who only just missed out last time to NZ.

Obviously Europe has much much more depth as a whole though - but that applies with Europe compared to any continent. South America has great top teams, and the rest aren't great (but are generally at least decent).

Africa and Europe would be the most likely for a new side though I think - as they have loads of sides around the same quality as their last qualifiers.

Africa seems to be the one above all whereby being one of the better teams is absolutely by no means guarantee that you will qualify for WC or even ANC, and being one of the worse teams is by no means guarantee that you wont.

EDIT: I agree that Aus, Jap and SK are alright and improving but after them it's a real drop off, NZ and NK were probably the two weakest teams in the last WC

yup, and it's down to the weird FIFA rankings, and its sometimes senseless rubric ...

I still have faint hope for Zambia ... so long as there isn't a heavyweight waiting in the third (and final) round ...

Yep I meant Congo-Brazzaville, not DR Congo-Kinshasa.

BTW, is the U.S. going to screw up that badly under Klinsmann that they won't qualify?

Pekerman is awesome, I think Colombia will reach at least quarters in Brazil, let's see if this time we get Pele's favour like in 94'

Anyone watching the U-20 World Cup? It's throwing up a lot of surprises. Mexico barely beating Vanuatu in the 95th minute? I want to believe it's an indicator of the future, but I'm hesitant due to age fraud.

Can't believe Zambia beat Germany. Certainly not a lot of name players for Germany, but it's still pretty surprising.
