Annual Mexican soccer merry-go-round:

Two Ascenso have been relocated and renamed: Altamira moved to Tapachula in Chiapas and becomes Cafetaleros de Tapachula, and Irapuato moved (again!) to Los Mochis in Sinaloa and becomes Murciélagos.

Also, two "expansion" teams were added to Ascenso MX: FC Juárez (working name, I believe), and Cimarrones de Sonora from Hermosillo.

This is why I can't take Mexican league seriously.

I bet if America or Chivas were ever relegated they'd just buy Queretaro or Jaguares and rebrand to stay up.
The way Veracruz came back to 1st Division is laughable. They straight up bought their way into Liga MX by buying La Piedad's franchise after the team's promotion.

It won't be too long before we see the Irapuatos, and Tecos back in second division and teams likes Murcielagos or Cimarrones disappear just as fast.

Necaxa and Atlante (two historic clubs) should have never left Mexico City. I think they would have fared better if they'd of teamed up to build a stadium that they could both call home. Necaxa decided build a stadium in Aguascalientes and Atlante the same in Cancun...well, now they're in 2nd division with even less fallowers than the few loyal fans who would go to the Azteca. They dun fucked up bad. How did they not see this coming?

America-Chivas, Chivas-America, the Super Clasico is going down this Saturday.

While America are ridding high in the standings, Chivas are drowning in the relegation. Guadalajara are a complete circus and really have been for the last 5 years but as we all know anything can happen when the two big dogs clash.

We have owned Chivas in the last 4 or 5 meetings including a 4-nil thrashing and one amazing 30+yarder by Paul Aguilar that gave us a 2-nil win at Omnilife, Chivas stomping grounds.

The game will be played at the Azteca. Close to 80,000 will be in attendance.

Lets go Aguilas!!!!!!!! :rockman:

The NASL's general meeting is this week. They're pretty much the most interesting thing in US Soccer these days with all their volatility.

The final is set.

( 1 ) Pumas UNAM v. ( 6 ) Tigres UANL

I think Tigres should take this easy. Pumas was outplayed by both Veracruz and America in the liguilla playoffs. America gave away their chances of reaching the final by having two players red carded in each game and even then they still had Pumas on the ropes.

Gotta say I don't remember a final ever being played by two universities. I see this as an attractive final. Two of the loudest and most vocal fan bases in Mexico. The last game Gignac played with his NT, he sent this message to some of the Tigres supporters known as the 'Libres y Locos' which I though was pretty awesome.

Liga MX needs more ambassadors like Gignac.

I could not believe what I was witnessing on Sunday. Tigres blows a 3-goal lead and they head to extra time tied at 3 goals a piece. Then Gignac scores and just before the game ends Pumas ties it up again. The game goes to pk's and Pumas misses three of them. Tigres holds on to win their fourth championship.

Tigres looking to add to an already stacked team. Going after a player from Belgrano, Zelarayan who's going to cost them 5M for 80% of his rights.

I understand Haiti earned their spot but they're going to get embarrassed. Honduras would of made for a better tournament. Concacaf should of just handpicked the teams is what I'm saying.

Mexico will be Champions. I can feel it. :)

All 4 MLS teams got eliminated Mexican clubs. Nice. (H) ...when will they learn that they have to align their season with the rest of the footballing world?

We have ourselves an all Mexican Concacaf Champions League semi-final:

America vs. Santos
Queretaro vs. Tigres

They won't. If an American league ever does it'll be through the NASL and/or NPSL. I've wondered for awhile if the MLS model with its low wages and high degree of control is the ultimate aim of our pro sports leagues.

Abby Wambach drove drunk and got arrested. Ale Bedoya went off on her on Twitter (and Jozy Altidore got in a random dig at Hope Solo). Her fans are insane.
