The Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Tribute Thread

Hans

How big is YOUR penis?
I wanna dedicate this thread to probably one of the most beloved figure in the world of football : Ole Gunnar Solskjaer....

I couldn't think of any reason why anyone could hate him, even for non-United fans. He is legendary for his loyalty and his work ethics, kept his mouth shut never got into trouble, and never make a hassle of anything...

Jesus, he will be missed... I'm so proud that a player like him played for my club...

Thank you Ole, thank you.... Absolute LEGEND....

Absolutely. His loyalty and commitment are just some of what makes him a true United legend. I'm going to Old Trafford on Saturday and I consider it an honour to see him play in that famous red shirt one last time.

When I see the tribute commercial at norwegian tv2, I get a tear in my eye. Im so proud of him. He is the biggest norwegian player ever.

Do you think he will get a chance to play ?

My significant memory of him is watching him put 4 past Forest in 98/99 when he came on for the final 10 minutes or so.

And he was a quality replacement for Golden Balls on the right-side of midfield, his crossing/passing was almost as good as his finishing as he was one of the main reasons(with RVN) why Utd won the 2002/2003 EPL.

Personality-wise, he's the total opposite of Slave boy.
Top player, but never seem to have made a huge impact on the International scene with Norway. I remember him being very disappointing in a decent Norway squad back in WC98, which included Flo of course. ;)

Mine too. Great player and loyal to the club. I remember there being rumors, during one of his injuries, of him joining Celtic (probably in 2004) to get playing time, but he chose to stay at Old Trafford.

EDIT:
YOUTUBE LINK REMOVED....ALREADY POSTED ABOVE.

Superb performance.... 4-1 up and everyone just played for fun, but Ole thought "I still wanna burn them Forest dudes...", netting another 4 adding salt to the wound...

I'll be sure to take the camera on Saturday and get some pics. I believe he is going to play at least some part in the game as well - of course he'll be presented to the fans in any case.

Some people only know Ole because of the winner in the Champions League final - but to those of us who follow United (and most who don't) Ole is a very special player. In these times when loyalty seems to be at a premium, Ole remained true to United, never caused any trouble (his only red card that I recall was a last ditch lunge against a Newcastle player - he knew the striker would score and cost United the game)

If anyone had an understandable case for moving on from United, it was Ole - but he committed himself time and again even when Spurs had had a bid accepted. Ole never considered leaving.

Plus he's donating Saturday's proceeds to an African childrens' charity.

I have been sleeping off the trip from Old Trafford (Got back at 11 last night) - I took some great pics which I'll post on here later.

Amazing afternoon - I'll never forget it.

Great striker, but first of all a great person. Too bad he was one of the most underrated players in the Premier League.

Ole Gunnar Solskjær - The biggest norwegian person ever. Thank you for everything, Ole. My name-brother. He was close to scoring yesterday too. Still a great player.

He started to crying at Norwegian TV yesterday, with Norways NT-manager.

Agree. I'm a Liverpool-fan, but I couldn't let my tears stay inside. Solskjær was the reason why I love this game today.

Okay. Here are the photos and the report:

Having set off from sunny Hampshire at 9:30 we expected to be up there in time to see the pre match festivities and have a quick look in the megastore. However the M6 motorway and Manchester Police conspired to rob us of the extra hour and we were climbing the stairs to the seating as Ole came out holding our European Cup (we saw it on the monitors)

United fielded a strong looking side and we welcomed Nani, Edwin and Patrice back from their holidays - Tevez was partnered by Giggs and Fletcher, Scholes and Darren Gibson joined Nani in midfield. The backline featured Rio and Nemanja, Silvestre and young Danny Simpson.

Espanyol clearly weren't intending to be thrown to the lions at Ole's party and they showed some good and aggressive football. On one occasion Tevez was fouled and squared up to his opponent, but as the ref walked over he fell backwards onto his backside again! Scholes had our hearts in our mouths with his usual tackling prowess (booked) and was encouraged by the 68,000 to "shoooot!" any time the ball came to him (even on one occasion in the centre circle facing away from goal - which brought some laughter from us) His passing again though was sublime, you just wouldn't believe how effortless he makes it look!

In the interval we were delighted to see Teddy Sheringham return to Old Trafford and in addition to praising Ole, announce his own retirement (which wasn't so nice)

The second half action seemed almost incidental as the 68,000 pairs of eyes in the stadium fell on the dugout as we waited for the man of the hour to emerge. Even a trot down the line ramped the already vociferous Stretford End's volume to insane levels. Then as so often was the case - Ole entered the battlefield with some 20 minutes remaining.

And as so often was the case, he stole the show. He was first to every ball, made every run and flicked on Fraizer Campbell to run through and expertly dink the ball over the keeper for the winner.

Ole lined up a freekick that was tipped over the bar, clearly the Espanyol goalkeeper hadn't read the script! He was jeered by the Stretford End and Ole good naturedly had a quick "chat" with him. Spare a thought also for the poor guy who nicked the ball off Ole and was greeted with 68,000 voices howling their displeasure. I almost swear I saw him thinking "what did I do?"

It was an honour and a privilege to witness this public "thank you" to a true United (and indeed, Football - Legend) Ole emotionally thanked everyone and made one last lap of the Old Trafford stadium with his children before receiving a guard of honour down the tunnel.

Also interesting to note the Stretford End ran through every player's chant/song whether they were playing or not. All that is except one......

Not one of them mentioned Cristiano Ronaldo.

One note before the pics. In the megastore after the game (that was jammed) I saw an old lady with a United shirt on - and printed on that shirt was "Nanny #17". Just class!

United line up (and no, I didn't know Scholes was scratching his ass!)

Couldn't put it better

Nani lit the place up

Teddy Sheringham

Giggsy lines up a corner

"Old Trafford, Manchester United substitution: Replacing number thirty two Carlos Tevez ... Number Twenty - OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER!!

Ole's first touch - naturally a pinpoint pass

Now, I wonder who should take this kick?

A final thank you.
