Leo Beenhakker announced the squad

Leo Beenhakker, coach of the Polish national team, announced the squad for the training camp that is to take place from December 1st to December 7th in the United Arab Emirates. On the 6th of December, the Polish national team will play a friendly match in Abu Dhabi against the team from the United Arab Emirates.

The players who will travel to the training camp in UAE will gather in Warsaw on the 1st of December after the League Cup matches. The next day before noon they will fly out to Abu Dhabi. The squad for the match against the Emirates consists mainly of young players born in the 1980s - Leo Beenhakker said. - I want them to get to feel what the atmosphere in the national team is like. I intentionally allowed for some of the players from Wisła Kraków to rest, as they have UEFA Cup matches ahead of them and have to prepare for those matches.
The Polish national team for the training camp in the UAE:

Goalkeepers: Łukasz Fabianski (Legia Warszawa), Mariusz Pawelek (Wisla Krakow), Maciej Mielcarz (Korona Kielce).

Defenders: Grzegorz Bronowicki (Legia Warszawa), Paweł Golanski (Korona Kielce), Dariusz Dudka (Wisla Krakow), Adam Kokoszka (Wisla Krakow), Grzegorz Fonfara (GKS BOT Belchatow), Paweł Magdoń (Wisla Płock), Krzysztof Lagiewka (Krylya Sovietov Samara).

Midfielders: Sebastian Szalachowski (Legia Warszawa), Lukasz Garguła (GKS BOT Bełchatów), Piotr Giza (Cracovia), Robert Kolendowicz (LKS Łodz), Maciej Iwański (Zagłębie Lubin), Wojciech Lobodzinski (Zagłebie Lubin), Adrian Budka (Widzew Lodz), Jakub Wawrzyniak (Widzew Łodz), Rafał Murawski (Lech Poznan).

Forwards: Radosław Matusiak (GKS BOT Bełchatow), Bartłomiej Grzelak (Widzew Lodz), Przemysław Pitry (Lech Poznan).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Beenhakker has his own conception on our team, and it's really promising. He took on Emirates players only from Polish league, but the most important thing is that most of called players are young. He's not afraid of giving chance them. He has shown this bringing to the team Błaszczykowski, Golański, Matusiak etc. WE have a lot of football diamonds and our coach knows how to find them out. :rockman:

Euzebiusz Smolarek was chosen as the Player of the Year 2006 in a plebiscite carried out by the weekly magazine “Piłka Nożna”. The winger from Borussia Dortmund and the Polish national team has been presented with this award for the second year in a row. It’s the third such case in history - previously only Kazimierz Deyna and Jacek Krzynówek won this award two years in a row.

Euzebiusz Smolarek couldn’t accept the award in person because his team fill face Bayer Leverkusen on Sunday in the Bundesliga. His father, Włodzimierz Smolarek, collected the award in his name. Awards for the team, player - Zbigniew Boniek and coach - Kazimierz Górski were also given out as part of the 50th anniversary of “Piłka Nożna”.
Radosław Matusiak was chosen as the Revelation of the Year. Orest Lenczyk became Coach of the Year (both from GKS BOT Bełchatów). Piotr Reiss (Lech Poznań) was declared the best League Player, and Leo Beenhakker, coach of the polish national team, was given the award for Foreigner of the Year.

The fans of Lech Poznań became the laureates of the 4th edition of the Orange Fair Play plebiscite. The association “Wiara Lecha” accepted the award in the sum of 10 thousand złoty in their name.

The list of prizewinners:

Player of the Year 2006: Euzebiusz Smolarek (Borussia Dortmund)

Coach of the Year 2006: Orest Lenczyk (GKS BOT Bełchatów)

League Player of the Year 2006: Piotr Reiss (Lech Poznań )

Revelation of the Year 2006: Radosław Matusiak (GKS BOT Bełchatów)

Foreigner of the Year 2006: Leo Beenhakker - coach of the Polish national team

Orange Fair Play: Lech Poznań

I know it's a bit late but here they are, the results of Piłka Nożna plebiscite.

what can you guys tell me about Marcin Chmiest? Seems like he is very close to signing with Braga in Portugal...I've read he was joint-top scorer in Poland? It's always good to hear about good players joining our league...

He's really good if he scores 8 goals in such club like Odra. He can win the game alone, don't need lots of chances to score a goal. He's skillful, fast and knows where to draw up.

Name: Marcin
Surname: Chmiest
Country: Polska
Born:12 Feb 1979
City of born: Kraków
Height: 184 cm/ Weight: 84 kg
Current club: SC Braga
Position: Striker, forward

Exactly, now he can play on highest level than he played at Odra, through playing for Braga. Surely he will promote himself there and sign a contract with more famed team like Sporting or he'll go to the other European league.

Good luck for him.

Oh yeah, in Portugal players that really stand out for the smaller teams usually end up at Porto, Benfica, or Sporting after a season or two. Pretty common for that to happen..

Shame that it hasn't happened to Saganowski. He went to Troyes and mostly sat on the bench. Good for him that the management let him go on loan to Southampton, maybe he will create good pair of striker together with Rasiak.

It is a shame.. I remember at the end of last season when people started talking about who to buy for the following season, Saga's name was mentioned a lot as a possible reinforcment for one of the big 3 clubs. A lot of people agree that he was a good player that they let get away..

Even for one of the better clubs in Portugal that usually play UEFA cup like Braga or Boavista, he would have been a good signing. Oh well...

In my opinion Marcin Chmiest is too poor for Braga. In 2005/2006 season he was in Legia. He couldn't score any goal. When he signed to Odra, one of the weakest club in Polish 1st division he started to score many goals.

well, we'll have to wait and see... Braga has a very good midfield, so if Chmiest is a good finisher he might score some goals with decent service from the mids. Braga had Joao Tomas as their main striker, and before he left for some Arab club he was one of the top scorers in Portugal. He wasn't a great overall player, but was a good "area" man who could convert chances given to him. That's probably the role that Braga is trying to fill with Chmiest..

It proves that Legia is not able to make full use of Polish talents.

Poles excel against Estonia
Poland enjoyed a morale-boosting 4-0 victory against Estonia ahead of the resumption of their UEFA EURO 2008™ campaign next month in the first of two friendlies played in the Spanish town of Jerez de la Frontera.

Defenders on mark
Coach Leo Beenhakker selected a team entirely based in the Polish Ekstraklasa for the match and those given the chance to impress took the opportunity with both hands as Poland went 2-0 ahead in the first half. It was defensive duo Dariusz Dudka and Adam Kokoszka who put last summer's FIFA World Cup finalists on their way, finding the net in the 25th and 32nd minutes.

First goals
The Poles, who currently sit third in UEFA EURO 2008™ qualifying group A, had to wait until the 70th minute to extend their lead further as Zagłębie Lubin midfielder Maciej Iwański scored within nine minutes of coming on as a substitute. The victory was then rounded off six minutes later as Paweł Golański completed a sequence of all four players scoring their first international goals before Estonia's misery was completed with Teet Allas dismissed in the closing minutes. Poland stay in Spain to face Slovakia on Wednesday while Jelle Goes' Estonia meet Slovenia in Domzale on the same night.

Sure it was a pretty sweet victory, but it was against Estonia... :( [Międzymorze ;)] whose best player is their GK, Mart Poom :boohoo:

Still, let's hope for a good win against Slovakia (Y)

Mecze te obfitowały w emocje i gole. W pamięci kibiców zapadła z pewnością w szczególności rywalizacja w eliminacjach ME`96.

Poland 2:2 Slovakia

We lost first goal in 34 second of the match and second in the last minute of first half. We played totally ****, that was the most crap football we ever played. Good for us that Beenhakker did some changes and bring Matusiak and some other players from Polish league.

At the beginning of second part we scored goal from a penalty and started dominating the whole game. 12 minutes before the end Matusiak scored a nice goal with a little help of Slovak keeper. We could won this but unfortunately Kaźmierczak missed from 6 metres on empty goal.
