Hi everyone, i'm back again. :) I decided to take a break of SG forums a few months ago cause i was a bit tired of some discussions and this season is being so bad for Porto that i wasn't in the mood to argue about football... anyway i think it was time to comeback, i just missed the old discussions here and i can't free me of the "bichinho da bola" :p.

So about our league i think he's on fire and the first 4 teams of the table have chances of win the Superliga, i just hope that Benfica is not the one, i don't care if it isn't Porto since Sporting or Braga win it... there's still important matches to be played and i believe that if Porto manage to win his games we still have a word in the title discussion, let's hope i'm right. With such a crazy league all i can say is that may the best team win and to be honest the team that is playing better this season in Portugal is Sporting, still i don't mind if Braga become champions(which i don't think it'll happen but everything is possible ATM...).

I think it's weird...really...I also want anyone to win, except Benfica. I think they don't produce enough football to be where they are. They have good points, like a very combative type of play, and some sort of italian "catenaccio". However, their football isn't atractive, and I feel that many players in SLB are really tired right now (Simão, Petit and M.Fernandes). I am from Sporting and I hope we win the championship(and UEFA Cup too :P)...but it would be really funny to see Sp.Braga win. And Sporting and Benfica left eating the grass lol.

And FC Porto still has something to say in this championship. The team is hopeful. That is a good thing.

yes, in fact we're playing catenaccio! last game against leiria we've had more than 35 shots on goal, if that's playing catenaccio then i don't know what's playing offensive football.

Its a fact Benfica wasted a lot of chances against Leiria but it also had "estrelinha" to get a draw almost in the last minute...

I just don't know how can someone say that we had "estrelinha" in that game...We didn't see the same match,I'm sure...

In my opinion,if the league finished today, Benfica would be a fair winner. We've been the most consistent team. The press is always saying that Sporting is playing better, but I'm must correct them. They're playing better when they play very well. What I've seen this championship, and it appears that I'm the only one thinking this way, is Sporting being highly irregular. We never know what to expect from them...Or playing very good or playing so poorly as no other challenger..And when I say they play poorly...I really mean it. Benfica doesn't play as good as them when they play good but surely doesn't play as bad as them when we play badly. So I guess that Benfica is a more consistent and regular team. And I prefer it this way...

I often hear the commentators saying that Sporting is playing better, the most attractive soccer in the league, with those passes on the midfield. It's the way they play, with a powerful/skilful midfield. What I would like to hear is that no team in Portugal have such "flancos" creative/explosive/attacking/connected as Benfica. Dos Santos/Simão and Miguel/Geovanni. And that's the way we play. We have great wingers, a kind of different players that have their "explosive moves"...so expect them using their pace and skill.
Sporting play with their player's skills and Benfica with theirs. It looks like that Benfica is doing a better job, since we're leading the league.
And about Sporting playing attractive football, that's very subjective. I can get really bored watching them play when they pass the ball around without creating spaces/moving forward. And that happens a lot...It's "muita parra e pouca uva".

Anyway, about the league...this is far from being over. Sporting is highly motivated and IMO can be better to them being behind...they've got nothing to lose. And if the teams stay at this distance until Benfica-Sporting...
FC Porto has a good calendar and 4 points is not a safe lead since their opposition will have matches between them...And if Couceiro can show them this, I can see FCP winning all their remaining matches.
Braga is doing an outstanding job...and also have a nice calendar. It all depends on their result against Sporting. If they win...
If not, I'm seeing them finishing 4th.

Just a word about Guilherme Aguiar...

He's becoming so nervous since Benfica took the lead...it's almost hilarious. He used to be sleeping on those TV debates, watching Seara and Dias Ferreira fighting...And now he's always up to say that everything Benfica is involved is illegal.
Now he's saying that Benfica playing against Estoril in Algarve is illegal. Can somebody ask this guy where he was living when Porto played Moreirense in Guimarães or when Moreirense played agaisnt Benfica in Braga...or when....

Because..I didn't see him talk.

in a competition of "pontos corridos" the winner is always the best team, because was the most regular. it's different than a cup competition when a team could have a bad day and be eliminated. in a league the best team finish the competition in 1º. let's hope that the best will be Benfica.

in their best moments, Sporting play a great football but they already made horrible matches too. so they are irregular. Benfica is more regular IMO, and i think we are making good displays in the last matches.

Eheh. :D

One word about Igor: there are few players in the Superliga that match his ball-handling skills and athletic build. He's had plenty of chances at Setubal and other clubs, but the guy just seems to have zero confidence in himself. I personally consider his miss versus Boavista even worse than that missed pk, and it goes full circle: guy misses easy chance -> lower confidence -> misses again -> lower confidence -> etc...

---------------------------------------

Some of the things that were said this weekend - especially by that moron at Estoril's SAD and Veiga - were really outrageous. Why don't these dumbsticks learn the Great Ancient Art of keeping their mouths shut?
The only positive reaction came from Estoril's coach, who took stage to defend his staff and boost his team's morale.
I'm quite confident Benfica will lose points this weekend.

To say the true Benfica only deserves the lead because it dropped less points than the others, if u look to the teams i think its pretty obvious that Benfica it isn't the best team, even Porto have better players but this season we're not playing like a decent team and that's why we already lost so many points(specially at home). I think this year is hard to say that we'll have a fair champion since all teams already played crap, still i think in the end probably the champion will the "most regular team" and maybe not the best team playing football and after all that's what the league is about... let's see how it all ends.

About Estoril-Benfica it's pretty clear that this was an "arranjinho" to help Benfica(and don't tell me that others teams do the same, that this will help the financial situation of Estoril...), anyway i agree with Infesta that Estoril's coach was the only one being honest in this whole situation. I also agree that Benfica can lose some points... now i hope Estoril show they're true professionals.

Now talking about Porto i think we can't lose more points, even not thinking about the title(which i think it'll be extremely difficult) we have to fight at least for a CL place and to have the best classification we have to win our matches and wait for the others 3 to drop points, let's have faith and believe we can make it.

arranjinho = paying for a small club to anticipate a cup match to clear Liedson's match ban so he could play against Benfica.

The fact is that we are Benfica and apart from the Porto, Sporting and Boavista stadiums we pretty much get plenty of supporters everywhere. We would be the majority at Estoril anyway, and I bet the majority of the people who go there to support Estoril are actually Benfica supporters too.

Other than that I kinda wish other teams used the Algarve stadium more often. It's such a good stadium and it's lying there unused.

But even if this was an "arranjinho" between Estoril and Benfica directions it just prooves one thing... Dias da Cunha gets the Hyprocrite of the Year 2005 award

I agree that Porto has the best players. Not the best squad, not even the best eleven.
IMO Porto signings were awful and I say this since the start of the season. They're good players but is not common on Pinto da Costa buying players just to buy. They made plenty of $$$ and started signing players without having a tactic. Porto used to play in 4-4-2 diamond or 4-3-3. Since all wingers left the team last season, why sign Quaresma? To play with just one guy on the side? And having so much strikers and not having a true substitute to Nuno Valente...Porto used to have 2 good players for each position...and knowing what positions they need. This season I still don't know how Porto players...They change the team every game. And yes, they we're a little unfortunate with those Costinha/Maniche injuries...but Sporting and Benfica had them also. And Costinha/Maniche main problem is not their injuries,is more their motivation.
Sporting has a better squad than Benfica, especially in the midfield where Benfica lacks a good substitute to Fernandes/Petit. But, IMO Benfica has a better first eleven.

About this "strange" championship (with the big teams losing a lot of points)...get used to it. Mourinho was the exception. The smaller teams have been growing from many years from now, it's pretty obvious. And I don't think that are the bigger teams that are becoming weaker. Championships "nivelados por baixo" were those were the champions reached the 30th game without having lost or Fernando Gomes scoring 5 in one game. But that's just my opinion.
