Ruinz, you're the man. :)

You know what, although I don't agree completely, I fully understand why Scolari keeps on calling players like Ricardo, Maniche, Costinha, Nuno Valente, Quim, etc. He built a group, and that's where the strength of his team is. Those players are part of the core and what he wants to show to all the others is that he has absolute faith in them, no matter what. They're all together in this, no matter what.
Actually, from a management point of view, that is very clever and usually works. I get pissed at Scolari for things he says and does, but we must admit he's doing an awesome job. I mean, come on, when was the last time we ever qualified to anything without having to do a bit of math? When did we reach an international competition final match? And I even think we had more talent back in 1998 and 2000...

Scolari's a bit crazy but I already decided to ignore my instincts and trust the guy. At least this time.

The trio: C. Ronaldo, Deco, L. Figo are solid in the midfield. If they can keep up like this, Portugal would be one of the favorites.

*reminding me about Portugal in EURO 2000* (Y)

Too bad we have a GK that only makes "****" and a striker that misses more than scores.

Btw, did you guys listen to the national anthem? Wasn't that the fastest version ever? Did the band had another appointment that night and had to run or what the hell happened there? :|

Also, what's up with Gabriel Alves and Moutinho? Is he his long lost father or something? Even my dad didn't use to talk like that when I made an assist... :nape:

É o Gabriel Alves, os da TVI, os poetas dos resumos da sporttv, é só postais que nunca chegaram a dar um chuto na bola na vidinha ridicula que se orgulham de levar :jap:

Anyway, i hear the radio, although the sound doesn't turn out to be always synchronized...

I pity the fact that the best match commentator in my opinion got fired or quit the job a few years ago and joined the players syndicate. Can't remember his bloody name, think it's something like Jose Antonio, but he was a football player and is a Sporting fan as far as I know.

Also Mourinho commentating the game against Spain (H)

But honestly looking at Gabriel Alves and comparing him to that fat dude, with a white curly hair from SIC, I'd take Gabriel Alves any day of the week man. That guy from SIC makes me want to puke all over my TV everytime I got to see a game in that channel.

From the TV commentators I still find Paulo Catarro the most tolerable of those working atm.

Gabriel Alves is a legend, his quotes speak fof himself (H) (he still commentates outside the matches on a mythical tv program "Estádio Nacional" being broadcasted on RTP Internacional and RTP Africa).

A comentator I like is Pedro Ribeiro :p Not because he's a benfiquista, he's isent commentating on premier league games.

On the other hand, José Marinho from Sporttv gotta be the worst and most annoying, apart from tha fatass from SIC. I mean, this guy stops commentating the game (for 5 seconds) to say the name of foreign players and does it SO badly.

Ex. : "E a bola a chegar a ... Ruá Cárrróle" (Roy Carrol) with a french accent, I was like :|. He also says Peter Ché, but most of portuguese commentators do that, so..

That's the commentators we have.. I don't wanna know what's gonna happen after GA retires :(
Specially because RTP sport journalism (at least in this specific area I'm totally sure, dont know about the others, suppose it's all the same) works on the "cunha" base unfortunatelly.

Im surprised noone has mentioned this yet.

Portugal recieves a warning today from Gilberto Madail that we could be stopped from participating in the World Cup 2006 and also the clubs in UEFA european competition.

Here is the article in Portuguese. http://www.correiodamanha.pt/noticia.asp?i...idCanal=12&p=94

Im so pissed right now, Portugal are working so hard to get into the WC and now its all falling apart. This will be terrible if FIFA does take this into action. I hope they get this problem resolved soon because I cant imagine Portugal not going to the WC now :nape:

Here is a summary of the article in English.

The situation worries the President of the FPF who is going to meet with FIFA before his trip to Moscow.

The Renascença broke the news «The portuguese futebol is not respecting the laws of FIFA and the maximum organs of the world futebol already alerted the portuguese goverment to this situation».

If an urgent restructuring of the "Estatutos da FPF" to meet FIFA's the consequences could be dramatic.

«This is a serious warning from FIFA that is shacking the portuguese futebol», says Renascença.

Gilberto Madaíl says «we are not meeting FIFA & Uefa standards which is what FIFA and Uefa want specially the first, which is that Portugal follows the norms of FIFA. When we talk about FPF we are talking of NT from sub-17 to the teams in major european competitions», says Madaíl.

The president of the portuguese federation reveals the existence of contacts between FIFA and the portuguese goverment and there are clear positions «I quote one that it is public, the Greece case. The greek goverment has a complicated situation to resolve, it's not the first time FIFA suspends a certain federation of participating in the european and world competitions».

It's of long that sucessive goverments of Portugal are up to par with this situation and nothing has been done to change it and Gilberto Madail fears that FIFA will take a drastic resolution until the end of the year, but he still hopes that the current goverment take the proper decisions and alterations in October or November.
«Since 1999 that the Portuguese Federation of Futebol been warning to this situation» nothing has been done."

I find it a load of BS, just when Portugal are nearly qualifying they want to kick us out. :kader:

that's what I wanna know too.. this article is just so vague that it basically says there's a problem, but doesn't actually say what the problem is exactly!? like wtf is that?

It's probably just a load of crap, what else should we expect from our dumbass journalists..

honestly, why even print it when not even the journaists know wtf is going on. it's like the journalistas want the players to think about this and not the game in Russia. I understand trying to "destibilizar" clubs you rivalk but not your country

he's the manager of a restaurant in Alvalade.

about the commentators i like Pedro Ribeiro and Pedro Sousa, both from SportTV

Paulo Catarro and the other SportTV guy (with glasses) are decent.

Gabriel Alves and the SIC guy (please shut up a minute) are horrible

please kill your self: José Marinho.

i posted this on the liga thread but it's better here:

i don't understand very well the problem too but i think it's something about the FPF status on the portuguese law. according to FIFA rules the national federations must be the "owners" of the football in their countries and don't have to respond for their actions to the governaments (only to FIFA), and the portuguese laws don't mention that. so the governament must change the law.

don't have FIFA more important matters to treat? and why this problem know and not in all last century?

but off course we will not be excluded from the WC. this is just Madail BS to press the governament.

I think the problem here is the way the government is interfering with the way football is run in Portugal.

I heard match fixing has to do with it as well. They should be looking into Italy & Germany which have so much match fixing, its not even funny.
