...I need tactical help :( I have a feeling my form is contributing to my terrible losses but still...I'd like to make the most of my players.

Just took a look eg at your 4-1 home loss to aardvark this week. Think your tactics look OK - would suggest more strength in central midfield, maybe 3 there instead of 2.

I have had some luck (not brilliant) with this formation which I 'copied' from Welsh Bluebirds: 3-3-1-1-2, although from my own experience I'm not sure how well the "withdrawn striker" is contributing in this sim, so maybe: 3-3-2-2.

are you sure it's not your players ;-)

I play a 3-2-2-1-2 which works exceptionally well with me beating 1st teams of the Bluebirds, Ginge and Stax so far despite having lesser players

You need quick back 3

Solid tackling 2 midfielders just marginally ahead of defense area on training field

Any creative players as 2 attacking midfielders placed two thirds up the midfield zone. They don't need shooting though as they set up strikers and don't score many (although do contribute odd one if lucky)

1 very good link player who is placed just in the attacking area on training field - mine has 5 in everything except heading (1) and Shooting ( 6 ) and scores quite a few long shots and sets up the strikers

And 2 strikers

All players are placed fairly centrally although don't have to have them as cental as they can go, not revalling my exact combinations of width ;)

I also won't divulge the best orders I have discovered but don't play long balls with this formation. If your team fits that with defenders having cross and strikers ball control then just play more simple 5 - 2 - 3

Basically what you said there was my season 8 tactic :p Anyway I changed my tactic last night and was challenging a few of the top teams. Lost to Swish 1-3, 6 to 15 SC - beat Unruly 7-2 (youths :p - I had my central defender sent off in the 6th minute :() and I lost to Edinburgh 1-6 though it was only 7 SC to 11 (13 to 15 shots). Darn goalie...I'm starting to think that it is form now...I hadn't seen these posts at the time but I did stick a third in the centre. I now have 3 at the back with 1 DM in front, 1 in midfield with 2 pushing towards the attacking line, and a man playing just behind the 2 attackers. It did quite well against Swish and the Knights despite the scores...the display was the most important thing.

Thanks for your help mate! If things don't work out with this tactic I'll change to suit your lines but I could have sworn that I had played tactics along those lines last week and they didn't do well at all. But then again, it's about finding a tactic that suits your team's play :)

It's not tactical I've noticed...it's all form. In my game today with Ginge, my central defender Nandy Scully mucked up everything important despite the fact he has 8 balls in tackling...but what's this...form you say...why indeed my friend. What else would cause you to get beat at home 0-4 in the league, draw with the likes of kung fu fc and wilmslow united in the BOE and lose to AC Molescroft and megatronics. It's obvious Ginge's players have like 8/9/10 in form. While my starting 11 have an average of 5.5 or something :(
