That' s my opinion.....not everyone will agree with it as you guys have demonstrated but then again not everyone has the same opinion. Now, let me phrase it a bit differently.......I just feel that they SHOULD be able to FACE teams like CSKA or even Sporting with a chance to get into the later stages of the tournament. Neither was around EVEN in the quarters ! Even last year...I mean Villareal gets into the semis??? Come on!

They were last year! If they can make it why not Rangers or Celtic? I can' t see how it can even be suggested by people that they should move over to the Premiership.

so if Rangers can do it why didn't did it? they were eliminated in the group stage because was worst than the others. you could speculate if Celtic could had been in the semifinals because they didn't played the uefa cup but Rangers played it and failed. so it's a dumb discussion IMO.

That is precisely what I am trying to say.....it is dissapointing that they failed because I thought they were a stronger team than the one which cannot make it even to the quarters.

Maybe they could have gone far...but I will never forget that game against Maritimo...I bet you didn't even know that team existed...in penalties it is always luck. Rangers had it. However, I think Rangers had some bad luck in group stage...i think they did 6/7 points or sometin...and didn't pass...
But I think Rangers would have an hard time get past those 4 teams in the semi finals right now.

Punkt: Benfica and Auxerre were owned in Russia. And that referee helped Benfica, IMO. I wanted SLB to win against CSKA anyway...

despite i support CSKA i can't say that Benfica was owned in Moscow, but Partizan and especially Auxerre obviously were.

Imagine how how stronger CSKA would've been had they kept Jarosik and Semak. When those two left in January I thought CSKA were done for good. I hope they go on to win the whole thing, though. Is Love still going to Brazil? I thought he was supposed to leave in January? He was complaining about the weather.

The tides are changing. Eastern European clubs are getting stronger and stronger by the year. They're starting to spend big and it's paying dividends.

Shakhtar Donetsk were the ones who denied Celtic a UEFA Cup spot, in case you forgot.

Wasn't CSKA the away team? So if Parma were to get a breakthrough they could actually just play Catenaccio like their lives depended on it. So I don't think they're as finished as you say.

Yeah, we'll just see how effective Catenaccio will be under Russia's below freezing weather. The same below freezing weather CSKA play under week in-week out.

you do realize that Moscow is not freezing all year round, right? They are in the spring as it is in Italy, with temperatures around the same, 8-15 degrees celsius.
