i think on buying PES 2008, but ths modding in that game seems a bit confusing, even though has better gameplay than fifa. Fifa maybe has got a licensed product but PES certainly can beat with patching.

Yes that is true, but what modding is worth in PES2008? In FIFA, the kits must be replaced since they are shamefully horrid. However they are perfect and beautiful in PES...really no need to change them...
And PES's fantastic edit system allows you to edit any aspect of the game without using additional PC only database programs...if you want to make kits in PES, you can do that through the edit feature...
FIFA needs to be edited because everything is horrible...but that really is not the case with PES...

Mate, I personally am not as optimistic as you are. I think EA will continue the CG version of FIFA for a few good more years. Why? Because they have no intention of making a fantastic game for PC because that would require a very high-end PC, so few people could play it. EA want a crud game for PC so it is compatible with as many people as possible.
It's all about the money for EA. They don't care what us fans want. They never listen. There are drastic pros and cons for both the CG and NG versions of FIFA 08, and it will stay like that.
EA is always about teasing us. Everything they do is a tease. Thats the reason this game is modified so much because they can't create a flawless game.
But if I was on the EA board I would also think that devoting time on the pc is useless. I think more people play on the pc but look at how many are not "true owners" of this game.
Why devote so much $$ into improving the pc version if most people are going to steal it?
Think about it? Sorry about my ranting but it is disappointing. I rather them discontinue making this game for the pc than putting out half $@! game. Especially this year when the game is very similar to FIFA 07. Yes, the gameplay has improved but is that all they did in 12 months? Ridiculous and insulting! We had folks moding FIFA 07 with better gameplay than this... Come on...
I agree with the people that are continuing to play FIFA 07.
I agree with the people that went to the console versions of FIFA 08. I don't play enough video games to justify buying an XBOX 360...
I certainly agree with the people that will start playing PES on the PC. I know I will! At least with PES the modding will be because "we want to" and not because "we have to"

mate, you are very right about everything. I am glad that you will switch to PES! but I like the fact that you see the reason why some people are remaining with 07. Now you know how I feel.
However, although i agree that more people get the PC version 'for free' than buy it, you should still know, that basically outside the US and Japan, the PC is the most dominant gaming platform. The PC still is the almighty mainly because it is 'universal'. THAT is why EA should give more attention to PC. If they actually try, more PC fans AROUND THE WORLD will get attracted to the game. Now, yes, some people get it illegally, but there will also be people who will buy it.
