Tips for improving team chemistry/morale

Hi

I am playing in manager mode with Cordoba in the Spanish Segunda.

Despite my objective being "avoid the bottom 3" we are currently 2nd with 6 games left, i have 99 for job security and fan support is in the 70s.....but even though we're doing so well, scoring lots of goals and keeping clean sheets, my team chemistry is only 27.....

I don't understand why this is. I do like to rotate my squad as my players tire quicker and I use a different formation for home and away games so maybe that's the reason but I find it unlikely considering our "unexpected" league position.

Why is it so low do you think and what can I do to improve the chemistry rating?

Cheers for any help!

I think you've already answered your question, pal... team chemistry is achieved by using the same (or as close as possible to the same) team for the majority of your games. While substituting a player here or there should not have a big impact on your team chemistry, the wholesale changes you refer to (team and formation) would keep your chemistry relatively low.

That has been my experience anyway, but I'm not an EA programmer, so don't take my experience as gospel.

Cheers!

Try upgrading your medical staff. Rotating your squad is good, but letting them play when they are tired (in yellow/red) damages morale/chemistry. Topping up contracts also gives a morale boost. Also, try playing your players in their favourite position.

I don't have much money to go out and buy a second choice for each position, only square pegs in round holes :(

Looks like i'm going to have rape the free agent market and sell them back on, make a load of money and then I can buy in a back up for each player ...

Thanks for the tips guys!

It may help you if you have a little better understanding of how team chemistry actually works and rather than repeat myself you'll find that information in this post on the official EA UK forums:

Manager Mode Chemistry

You may also find a little more background in this post in the archive there:

Help understanding team chemistry?

Whilst the latter post relates to FIFA 07 there seems to be little (if any) change between the two versions.

The best way to improve team chemisty quickly and effciently is to get new contacts for ALL the player as soon as you start the next season. That way their morale rises quickly and coninues to rise at the same rate. If a player is not happy even though you play him then you shoul simply loan him out because when he comes back the morale will be a lot higher.

My own experience is that even if you offer the player a greatly increased contract you will only shift their morale by a few points and that increase really doesn't justify the extra cost.

If you loan a player to another team in the same league then they might see an improvement in their morale if they get to play regularly, but if you loan them to a team in another league then they will barely play, if at all (because the game only simulates matches in the competitions that your team has an interest in) and their morale will be essentially unchanged.

In manager mode, you need to keep a constant starting 11. If they are fatigued, replace them but try and keep them on the substitute list so their morale doesn't go below. When you get new players on the team, don't play them for 4 games.
