Total Football Has Arrived

Some initial testing reveals to me that with the right PPMs, a libero can work, although his defense needs slider tweeking. Namely, "gets forward whenever possible". I've seen Agger and Thiago Silva make runs into space, although it didn't work in a 4 man defense, only a 3 man defense. This suggests to me that it might play best in Italy where they have a lot of 2 man forward lines.

In order to play total football, I'm going to need a sick Libero and a Cruyff type. Barca has these players in spades, but everyone else is sketchy. I actually think Yaya as libero and Aguero as Cruyff could be the best combination because Yaya has the "gets forward" PPM.

Also, does anyone know of a right sided Bale? Maybe he doesn't exist (or is Dani Alves), but I figured I should ask. Ramires is close, but not as good technically.

I think you hit the nail on the head with Alves probably...He's generally played RB throughout his career but is a natural wing back. As Bale has generally played left wing/attacking mid, but is also naturally a wing back I think.

Actually kind of looks like Bale has lost a lot of his defensive attributes in the game (which does match his real life playing style), so Bale isn't a left sided Bale. Alaba/Asamoah would be better for wingbacks I think. Right side is a lot harder. Vidal is a good shout; actually Pepe for Juve looks like he can play MR as a wingback too. Unfortunately, Alves, Pepe, and my hero Maggio are all old.

I might be confusing my ideas. It probably makes more sense to play 4-3-3 sans libero for Total Football. And if I want to have a libero, then I can make a separate libero tactic for a different team.

Pepe is dead irl too. Asamoah is a really good call, Glen Johnson maybe worth a look?

It actually annoys me when they do that. Players don't necessarily get worse at a certain skill, they just display it less, or are less inclined to do it. But in FM they lower that ability, which I think makes it less realistic.

The thing is that Bale actually has diminished defensively though. I think they played him at LB against Fulham last year and he was shit.
