I'm not totally sure of what I saw tbh- at a friend's place, drunk. Tho I think this woman was "glowing" after sleeping with the other guy's rival and the other guy was who she was sleeping with prior to it. Then I remember this other couple going through issues since the chick decided to go for another job or something. Then there were this few minutes they were doing what they were supposed to about a case. The pointless romance and focus on it sort of pissed me off.

So you watched an episode mid series, without understanding any back stories, and decided you didn't like it.

If I watched one random episode like that, I'm sure I'd be the same.

Perhaps actually watch it from the start, as I'm sure you did with all the other shows you've liked.

Haha, yes. I guess that is way too little to base my judgement on and better to not rely on outside opinion as well. I'm gonna check it out. Thanks for the suggestions!

It was spectacular and all but also very disappointing. No more twists and turns, just the good guys winning as expected and some silly buddy-cop dynamics for needless humor. Honestly, until they kill off a truly major character they're not really doing the show justice. One of Tyrion, Cersei, Jaime, Arya, Sansa, Danaerys or preferably Jon Snow needs to die already. They can't even kill off Brienne or Davos anymore. Was anyone actually worried about Snow this episode?

The one character it would have been nice to keep around for the future they killed on-screen.

Cersei's story might wrap up next week, or at least it'll possibly be the beginning of the end. Tyrion didn't tell Dany about all that wildfyre underneath the Great Sept this week so that it'll never have any impact on anything. Also, Cersei definitely knows about it and her trial is in the Sept.

Also, look at who you listed as the "major characters" right now. They are very different from the beginning of the show. Several major characters have died. At some point you need to resolve the story, and it doesn't make sense for Game of Thrones to actually be the story of Davos leading humans over the White Walkers.

Ned, his wife and Rob are the only other 'main' characters that have died. I mean, I guess Cersei's kid, too, but this has always been more about the Starks than anything else and pretty much all of them are still there. I get not killing them, but the story has just become very predictable now that they went out of their way to make all the villains into sympathetic characters. Especially since there isn't anyone left to root against. Perhaps this is a bid to simplify everything to allow the White Walkers to become a dominant element but I'm less interested in the plot now because most of the politics and ambiguous characters have been pushed aside. We have hardly seen anything of Littlefinger this season. Varys, Tyrion and Jaime have become bland and they even took out Bolton.

Am I the only one who finds the emphasis on religions of Westeros over politics of Westeros to be boring?

Well obviously the Night's King is going to be the Final Boss.

And you're not alone about the religious thing. It's called Game of Thrones, not "unimportant religious argument in a more-or-less religiously tolerant society".

But bro, at some point they have to wrap it up, and if you kill all the heroes, who is going to defeat the bad guy at the end?

I don't think they should all die. In fact, the only character I think should die out of those I mentioned is Jon. He is going to last until the very end despite being the blandest character in the entire saga.

I would like to see Sansa continue this slow-burning heel turn and stab him because he compromises the Stark legacy with his goody-two-shoes act. By then Brienne could have arrived and she can take his role as a noble fighter/leader, with the caveat that she is totally Sansa's bitch. Then pit Sansa and Brienne vs. Cersei and the Mountain in a north vs south battle once Cersei totally gets her power back in King's Landing. And since all battles need a calvary-to-the-rescue moment, Danaerys can storm in right then and fuck everyone up.

Cersei kills Arya, Tyrion kills Cersei, Jaime kills Tyrion, White Walkers kill everyone but Daenarys who uses the stupid fire thing Tyrion talked about to murder-suicide everyone so she never gets to actually rule.

There, that's the next 4 seasons figured out.

I think the emphasis in religion has something to do with the mysterious plot maesters have with the seven gods, which Jaqen and Sarella are investigating, but I'm not sure if the series is going to follow that plot. I supose, they tried to return to the book plots this season. But the sand snakes in the series suck so much.

I like the fact that they reshuffled the deck. I hooe the days of vying for power are behind us and now it's about the 3 factions going at it.

Although Sans vs Jon could be a sweet low-simmer plot to keeo an eye on.

Cersei doesn't have a faction, Cersei has the Red Keep. She's going to be our Lady Jane Grey of the story.

The stuff in the North was pretty surprising to me. Sansa can't be happy about Jon being the new King in the North, and honestly I thought Jon was going to step in and decline the title before it got out of hand.

Reading between the lines: let's see Dany has the Iron Islands, Dorne, the Reach, while the North, Riverlands, and Vale are in open rebellion towards the crown. So Dany has to marry someone to consolidate her power... hmmm... Iron Islands, Dorne, and the Reach are all led by women... the Vale has a retarded boy for a leader, and the Riverlands are just fucked... who could Dany possibly marry.

Odd that Targaryans have a history of marrying relatives too, if only there was a powerful Targaryan in Westeros leading one of those geographic areas. Until that Wall comes down, it's going to be a victory lap for Dany and the Starks.

Also, I'm pretty certain that Arya will end up killing The Mountain and then finally the last person on her kill list.

What do you think Euron will do? I'm sure Dany will decline his marriage proposal. If he attacks her fleet I don't think the dothraki will last long.

Iron Islands aren't led by women. They're going to be attempted to be won back by a woman, but they're not yet led by one.
