UCL - AC Milan v FC Barcelona - [P & R]

Well, based on their kits, club badges, and to a lesser extent injuries and current form, im calling this one for Milan: 2-1 (Pippo, Kaka, Giuly)

Deco and Messi will both miss it, if memory serves

Pippo might miss the game. He is suffering from tonsillitis.

If he plays, I think Milan will win. If not, Barca will come off with a draw. Either way I don't see Milan losing this one (or the return leg for that matter)

oh no, Gilardino playing a CL game... :(

I'm gonna continue with my tradition this season and not give a prediction. whatever happens happens, let's hope its a great game (Y) hopefully Gattuso can contain Ronaldinho while Nesta and Kaladze (?) keep Eto'o at bay

expecting to see the Pirlo to Sheva long ball being played a lot, but Pirlo's been in poor form recently, so I cant see that being effective... and I doubt his lazy ass can help in containing Ronaldinho, so I dont think he'll be useful at all :p

I expect Ronaldinho to run the show once again against a slow Milan defense.

I think Eto'o will shine also.

1-2

Milan to win 2-1 I think, I can't see Milan keeping a clean sheet against Barca. However, I do think Barcelona will still get to the final.

Slow Milan defense? They're everything but slow...

If they play at their level, Nesta and Kaladze can cope with the likes of Eto'o, Giuly or Larsson... well, Eto'o can sometimes break free, bcoz he's just... too fast! (6)

The problem is... can the Milan midfielders stop the attacking wave coming from Barca midfield? They will have to make a great performance, bcoz Barcelona are also in great shape... if Deco isn't playing, they'll have more chances to stop Barca... but, Ronaldinho will be there...

I'm making no predictions...

Barca is basically without their first choice midfield. For sure, it isnt their midfield that would be threatening but obviously, their attack.

Marquez

Van Bommel-Iniesta

IMO, is not better than

Pirlo

Gattuso--Seedorf

Kaka

but thats on paper only :(

I reckon the midfield will be Edmilson, Iniesta, van Bommel. Some people might think Iniesta is the weak part, but to me right now he's our best player in midfield. He was the best in Lisbon. Still it's an unproven midfield indeed and even though Deco has been in bad shape this last month, we'll miss him for sure.

Ronaldinho has not played since Benfica, two weeks ago. Always big confidence on what he can do. Eto'o is in better form lately and Giuly was MotM last Friday against Villarreal.

Great news for the defence, Márquez is back. He's been one month injured but I hope he starts the game so we can play our best back four Gio-Márquez-Puyol-Oleguer.

I think both games can go either way. Small details will decide this match.

I have a feeling Rafa won't start, didn't he just come back to the bench on Barca's last game? I'd say a 2 - 2 would be nice, from a neutral stand point.

Go nobody. :rockman:

Barca with a lot of possession and chances, but Milan with the clinical finishing, I see a 3-1 win for Milan, but it can go either way

1-1 or 2-1 to either team, wil be a very close game, who ever loses will have had more chances, either team will score a very classy goal to tie it up or win it

To be honest, Barça is not playing well in last games and we're missing too many players or they are just returning from long injuries.

Milan is not playing well either but they are improving and only will miss Inzaghi.

With Barça full squad or playing at same level that we did against Chelsea,I would be sure we would advance to next round, right now it's much more balanced.

Agreed. We NEEEEED to get an away goal here and then if we lose, so be it, although I don't think we will. I think the end scoreline will be 1-1, which is fine by me. Come the second leg, we'll have marquez and motta more match fit, and deco and larsson will be back too. plus, we'll be at home.

honestly, it will be damage control for barca at the san siro. if milan doesn't take advantage of it.... :ewan:
