UCL - AC Milan v FC Barcelona - [P & R]

Dream Team

Starting XI
Ronaldinho, Giuly, Iniesta, Puyol. :rockman:

Solid performance. The difference of this game was that Gilardino hit the post and Giuly scored. Superb assist from Ronaldinho.

Iniesta would be more known around the world if he played in England. Great performance by Andrés once again, one of our best players the last month, maybe the best.

We're used to see Giuly missing a lot of chances. Sometimes he's very unlucky. Today he did perfect.

Clean sheet. Good day for the defense, even though I think Gilardino was our best defender.

cant really say much, Barca were the better team today. better passing, better control, just looked more on their game as the game progressed while Milan just went limp and died (N)

Gilardino was ******* ****, I honestly would have preferred Amoroso to start (N) was glad to see Pirlo and Gattuso subbed off, they didn't play well at all, kept losing possession in midfield, but when I saw Ambro come on I was actually happy.. until he missed that chance, oh GOD :nape: and don't get me started on Gilardino, I've hated him since I saw him play in a Milan uniform and I still do to this day. man how he missed Pippo :(

and the goal was very nice, well worked, but Dida looked too unsure of himself and in the end he really should've read the play and charged at the ball (N) but he saved us a few times before and after that so I cant be too harsh on him

well, we just have to win in Barcelona, wont be easy but it's not impossible

Second game will be tougher for Milan. I think Barça missed Deco in the midfield during the 1st half.
This was a good game but still not lived to its potential. Hopefully Ronaldinho will set things straight next week.

Oh, and no italian teams in the final. (Y)

Great win Barca. Was a great match to watch and I enjoyed every moment. Barca did a great job canceling and fraustrating Milan. Ronaldinho was amazing as usual and left me speechelss again and again... Giuly fought during the whole game and scored a great goal. I hope to see Barca in the final.. Good job!

Ancelotti was at fault...

Once again Ancelotti gets it wrong:

1- Didnt start with 2 DM's (Gattuso,Ambrosini , or Vogel) instead of Pirlo who cannot defend and is in poor form ....

2- Gilardino is not good enough at this level, still he did not give Amoruso a chance.

3-Gattuso was played on the right hand side but Ronaldinho was gonna roam all over the field anyways just as Eto'o and Guily did..so whats the point?

4- Why was Seedorf on the Left while serginho was played as a left back??

here is what should've happened

dida

stam kaladze nesta maldini

gattuso ambrosini(vogel)

cafu kaka serginho

Sheva

try to get an early goal then u have gilardinho, pirlo and Amoruso who'd be perfect subs instead of MALDINI IN THE LAST 10 MINS WHEN UR 1-0 DOWN...

No wonder Madrid are intersted in Ancelotti

disgusting :nape:

oh and btw

I still have faith in him

Carlo brought on Cafu, Maldini and Ambro as subs while 1-0 down... those types of changes worked against Lyon, and just because they did, he thought they'd be effective again... really should've brought in Rui Costa (N)

We're not dead yet, but it's going to be tough. Honestly cant see it happening under normal circumstances, Barça are now clearly favorites and it's theirs to lose. I would be surprised to see Milan in the final now, oh well.

Hopefully they prove me wrong.

Boring match. The players were too nervous.

What was Ancelotti thinking...? Those subs were a very bad call...

I hope next week we'll see a better match...

Guily spoke to the press yesterday and demanded that he be picked for the French World Cup squad. After seeing how well he's been playing recently, theres no reason he shouldn't be in the squad! He's definately out to prove a point, and he's certainly doing a damn good job of it.

Close down Kaka and you starve Shevchenko of any service. Milan were unlucky in the first half not to convert at least one of their chances though. The longer the game went the more Ronaldinho got into it and what a breathtaking pass to assist Guily's goal. After that it was a case of Barcelona squeezing the mid-field with plenty of bodies and tightening up on the Milan danger men. Milan certainly didn’t look like breaking them down with the slow build up play however Kaka managed to break free of his marker late on and should have at least tested the keeper.

An early Milan goal at the Nou Camp and we have a tie on our hands. I feel the longer Milan leave it though the more Barcelona will tighten their grip on the tie. Should be an interesting second leg.

Barça are just better than anyone else, even without some key players.

Their passing and movement quality is just something else and mind you Iniesta, Van Bommel and Edmilson aren't usually even regarded as world class players.

Credit to Rijkaard who built a phenomenal team even considering it without Ronaldinho + Eto'o.

Shame most of their fans unlike the team are such arrogant twats.

Ronaldinho sometimes make World Class defenders look like street footballers...

He's just too good! God d*mn it... :rockman:

Káká is also an excellent player... he was the dangerman for Milan! Great technique, speed, vision and passing ability!!!

And i don't think Sheva was disapoiting, really...

Iniesta is an very good midfielder... very underrated!!!

decent match.

Barça possesed the ball very well, but Milan could easily have had a two or three goal lead.

I think the second leg will open up.

Great play from Ronaldinho (Y)

Everyone has an opinion but many are just plain juvenile as always.

How were Ancelotti's subs wrong?

Lets break them down shall we?

Maldini for Pirlo - Did you guys even watch the game? Milan were leaving huge spaces at hte back and Maldini brought some much required tranquility at the back. Milan could have very well been 2, 3 goals down even without him. At least with him, they limited the damage to 1 goal. Pirlo was on for most of the game and couldn't really carve through Barca like he usually does. Kaka, Sheva, Gila were all on... so they didn't lack in attack anyway.

Ambrosini for Gattuso - Remember how well that move worked against Lyon? Ambrosini could have easilly put Milan level even if he hadn't hurried his shot.

Cafu for Stam - Clearly an attacking move. Cafu brings more speed down the flank and Stam had some great opportunities to put in some crosses earlier - something Cafu would have exploited much better. So no blaming the pig there either.

I thought everything Ancelotti did was spot on. It was just a matter of Milan not taking their chances and Barca taking one of theirs. Gila ver. 2004-05 or Pippo would have put Milan 2 goals ahead in the first half.

Milan came out with the right attitude. They did eveything right. But they are bound to go into their shell after missing some easy chances and when Barca puts away one of theirs.

Don't forget its only half time. Theres still Nou Camp.

(PS: Barca fans are annoying as hell. Much like the Arse.)

Rony don't feel too let down. I'm telling you, Milan will pull it off.

oh I'm not let down at all, I thought we played well, but like you mentioned, we didn't take our chances. the one thing I was disappointed with was the way our defense allowed Barca to have their way with us in the 2nd half. Ronnie was allowed WAY too much space whenever he charged towards the area (except, ironically, during the play that lead to the goal where Rino was all over him)

also I thought our midfield didn't do their job, Pirlo and Gattuso couldn't get any passes right and their giveaways kept killing any momentum we built. but I'm not worried, I think if we play the same way attacking-wise at Nou Camp with Pippo in the line-up, we can pull it off (Y)

just have to wait and see though :p

what the hell is wrong with you? what has any barca fan said that has been "annoying" or "arrogant"?? we played better, we deserved the win, and now we have an interesting tie in store for the second leg. if anything, the posts here have been much more intelligent than on most of the [P+R] threads on this forum.

grow up and stop trying to make yourself feel better about the loss by blaming barca fans who have acted very maturely about the accomplishment.

oh man we didnt deserve to lose at all...

again, the best player in the world decides the game.. :(

congrats to Barca anyways, was a great game, dont really mind losing to a great team who played great away from home (Y)
