2-1 FT

No subs for united at all :o

Bardsley and Richardson were both very impressive indeed at RB and LB for me. Giggsy as superb as always in the Champs League.

A well needed victory.

F*ck why did Koeman put Beto in the starting line-up ? With much better players on the bench :nape:

Well congrats to United, still I think Benfica deserved more for what they did on the match, but that's football.

thank you Koeman for put Beto almost all game and in a wrong position. we played 85 minutes with 10 men when we clearly could had a good result.

Again, we were tactically outclassed, seriously
so many bad passes

Van Der Sar saved a lot of shots at the begining of the game
i would call the free kick Simao scored a mistake by Edwin
anyway, he still had a good game
Bardsley and Richardson are fine
I have mixed feeling on Ferdinand, he was not commanding enough as the centre of the defence, but he did make a good assist to Ruud's goal
O'Shea was pretty sloppy, he is really not good enough as a centre back
Smith did his job, not bad
Fletcher was average
Scholes had a few chance but he missed them all, an average game
As always, whenever Ronaldo got the ball, 2 to 3 guys came tackle him, but he still managed to dribble pass the opponent for a few times, he was alright today
Giggs, oh good Giggs, if it wasnt for him, we would have lost this game already, he had the energy, dribbling pass defenders, great free kick, there was some luck on that goal though
Van Nistelrooy scored a trademark tap in, thats the thing we desperately need, RUUUUUUUUUUUD, he's the man

we won the game by luck, we didnt win tactically, that's actually a shame, and we saw Fergie and Queerarse looked very pleased with the game, oh crap, anyway, we won.

Shame on Benfica they could have won this match.
Beto is the worst player i have ever seen in my life, is he usually this bad? He cant shoot, dribble, or pass why the hell is he even playing at all :sb9: :sb9:
Moreira was also bad, i dont know if he was scared of United or something but he was crap as well. Nuno Gomes is too slow. Other than that Benfica did pretty good. Simao had a very nice goal.

can't hope for anything but to lose when we gave the midfield totally to Man Utd in the 2nd half and played 80min with 10 men.

Beto has got to be Koeman's butt buddy.

Anyways Man Utd have nothing to do with this, congrats to them, honestly have to say that due to the 2nd half they deserved the win

Arrived at home just in time to see Simão's superb free-kick - another one (Y)

After that Benfica just sat back and defended, while Manchester United showed how terrible their actual form is.
It was weird to see Scholes playing so badly, and even Ronaldo sucked like he usually doesn't....hope they come back to be a strong team with class displays.

So in the end, tough luck for Benfica..can't say I'm sad (H)

 Koeman (N)

dissapointing result, but to be expected. It's likely that the other teams in the group will also lose at old trafford, so not all is lost. Nice Simao FK, and what more can we say about Beto.....he proved today that he's not a top-club calibre player and he clearly didn't have what it takes to play in a CL match. Koeman, open your eyes and use your head for the next match... what makes this loss hard to swallow is the fact that we could have easily come away with a point, but let it slip through our fingers.

I swear, we will give Man Utd. hell in Lisbon. At least I hope we enter that match with this kind of mentality, especially after seeing today that Man Utd. is not 100 times superiour to us. Koeman needs to work on the mental state of Benfica players and give them the confidence to play these kinds of opponents as equals.

The irony in van Nistelrooy scoring that winner when Queerarse and Ferguson needed it badly, and no one hates 4-5-1/4-3-3 more than Ruud van Nistelrooy. Alan Smith, midfield general? is he fuck. Ronaldo's form has been poor but I can understand that, but how the fuck does Fletcherson get in the team when there are better players like Lee Martin and Giuseppe Rossi. I'd even give Miller a run in the side over Fletcherson.

United were lucky with goals, but to say that it was totally undeserved is exaggeration. United had more chances, more shots on target, more possesion and hit the woodwork twice. Benfica did have a few good spells, but so did United, especially after Benfica scored, United had them for like 20 minutes in Benfica's half, until Ruud scored. Yeah the two goals were kind of scrappy and lucky and Benfica's keeper sucked, but Benfica didn't show much except for their goal either. Sure it wasn't a great United performance, but what did you expect from the Queiroz the tactic masterminder?

it was a deserved win, we were sh*t in the 2nd half, we would be lucky getting away with the draw when we gave Man Utd full control of the game. Anyone that says otherwise must have been watching a different game.

What are you talking about, today Fletcher covered more ground than any other player. He did mess up a few times with his crosses, but it's still better than what Scholes has been giving the whole game. Fletcher covered the space all over the place and made numerous vital interceptions which could have easily resulted in a shot on net.

Why do you all people expect someone to come in and play like Roy Keane? Ronaldo hasn't been helping much at the back, he did get the ball and dribbled past like 5 players a number of times, but i didn't see much defending from him, Giggs barely helped either and i don't even wonna talk about Scholes, i don't think he did anything well today. Fletcher and Smith were running their asses off all over the field both trying to do the work that is done by 3-4 players in most top clubs.
