I wish I could say that this will help United going into the weekend, but it will only make it harder for us. Hopefully we can get a win at Lille, so we have some confidence going against Chelsea.

It's how a team reponds to a poor result which is the most important thing so i feel sorry for the team they face next which is Manchester United :funny:

At least Mourinho was gracious in defeat he said "Betis deserved the win , we have no complaints"

Makes a change. :lui:

I can't believe I have actually seen someone say that Chelsea were outplayed.

Interesting. And keeping the Spanish connection in mind... :p who knows..
And then it back fires on them, Betis beat Anderlecht on MD6 and we beat Pool. :rockman:

Seriously, no chance in hell they would do such a thing.

Thats because they were...

I didn't mean it as I don't think they were, I meant it as in thats one of the last statements I would see in the present footballing world.

You could argue Wigan and Arsenal did, and they got lucky with 2 flukes.

You cannot say that strike by Crespo was a fluke when he has done that before.

And Drogbas was just skill, first touch strike.

Betis were on a streak of sh't results (a week or so ago they lost 5-0 to Malaga ffs), this is a really amazing win for them (Y)

I still think Chelsea will top the group though

and come on, how can someone not see that Drogba's goal is a huge fluke :|

Its not a surprise to see Chelsea losing to Betis at Betis home, cause we all know playing away in CL is never easy. But its a big suprise cause Betis last results were a joke (losing 4-0, 5-0 ,2-3 and 0-2 to Chelsea, Malaga, Villareal and Real Madrid) And today they were losing 7-8 players like Assunçao, Nano, Oliveira, Miguel Angel, Oscar Lopez, Lembo, Luis Fernandez, ... 6 of them are usual in the Betis line up.

BTW, It seems Oliveira is gonna be injured all the season, so he wont be playing for Brazil at World Cup :|

shocking result, considering how **** Betis has been lately.

i feel really sorry for Oliveira. The last month has been the worst of his career (sent off vs Barcelona, awful inthe rest of matches) and now, he can be out for god knows how many months :nape: .

I am not going to join the parade and say we were totally outplayed today, becuase for the first hour, which was essentially what I saw, we were not in my estimation outplayed. We were creating the chances that could have put us in control (if taken properly) even if they were winning the possession battle. After the half, things should have gotten better, but we got progressively worse.

However, Betis won it and they deserved it. There is simply no excuse for Chelsea not scoring at least once a match unless a team parks the bus. Out of the two "big" teams in the group, I knew they would beat at least one as they were a quality side. I just didnt think it would be us.

However, the fouling was a bit rampant as I started to leave, and by the sounds of it, it only got worse. Then again, this was a ref that was booking betis players near halftime for what he deemed to be timewasting, but it sounds like we didnt exactly make it difficult on him to call.

In terms of individuals Guddy looked complete crap today, Drogba was ineffective when compared to his last few weeks (the Drogba of last year seems to have creeped back in) Robben let the physical play get to him, and Cole was invisible except when bitching to the ref. SWP was mostly ineffective, too, and I personally thought that Ferreira should have been taken off at half to be replaced by crespo to go three at the back. Even Lamps drifted in the game. The only play I saw that was consistantly good was Essien and the three CBs who, aside from the goal, did their job well.

One thing is for certain: Jose must work his magic and get the players ready to kill at the weekend. If we smash the mancs, that could be the spark needed to lift us out of this rut. Give crepso a run in the side

What troubles me most, though, was the lack of professionality. I hate to see that anyway, but when its my team, I am more than a bit ashamed. With Cole and Robben being the pair out there, and a strict ref, there was the possibility for both frustration and whining to show and be punished and it was. Both of those two need to be sat down and told to shape up their act on the field, or its going to cost us again and again. You could see the effect their lack of success and subsequent shoulder shrugging had on the moral of our side.
