Just thought I start a thread.. Anyone else watching the Everton v Fiorentina or Spurs - PSV games?? Both at the moment in extra time..

It has been some great back and forth football from both games and all teams..

Gomes.. man what a keeper this guy is for PSV.. He makes a last minute save in the extra time and then again in penalties.

Unfortunate result for Everton and Spurs.. But great games overall

I watched the Everton game, they were unlucky, played so well in the 90 minutes but just couldn't get that crucial third goal. Couldn't believe Yakubu hit the post with his penalty, and Frey's penalty save was superb, couldn't fault the way Jagielka struck his kick.

I thought the Spurs and Everton performances were excellent - hard for me as a Liverpool fan to say that.

Turning the games around to get to penalties was a good effort - Everton though never really looked that confident in taking penalties, though Spurs should have won their shootout.

I would say looking at the highlights of games this year - Bayern loko like the team to beat

I still have my doubts over Bayern. I think they can be a bit overconfident and one of the smaller sides could take advantage of that. I actually see parallels between Getafe and Alaves when they got to the final in 2001. Would be good to see a smaller side win it.

well, Fergie said the Premiership is best in the world and this happens, hehehe
we all know that Fergie, but next time keep ur gob shut until we get through, what he said probably motivated the opposing teams(take it as a joke Mancs),
really felt for Everton and Spurs as well, really went out fighting, but congratz to PSV and Fiorentina!!

No matter how many teams go through, the only indicator will be that an ACTUAL Premiership team wins it all. Last year the same thing was being said when three teams were in the CL, only to see AC milan win it all.. :p

I'd be afraid if I was a Getafe fan reading that...

Alavés got relegated only a few seasons after running the Scousers so close in 2001.

Great games last night, pity about the two shoot outs for the Brits amongst us.

Just thought i'd say, it's been reported on bbc.co.uk today that the FA and FIFA are looking into the the ancient (and somewhat archaic) law stipulating that if Cardiff win this year's FA Cup, due to the fact they are infact WELSH, they won't be allowed into next seasons UEFA cup. Apparently Blatter thinks it's dumb and unfair. So, from what i can tell, Cardiff win the cup and they will go through to the qualifying stages as normal. However, if Portsmouth somehow get into Europe via the league and won the cup, beating Cardiff in the final (which is inprobable, but possible) then I'm not sure if they would be allowed into Europe, as Millwall did a few years previously when Man Utd raped them in one of the worst finals ever.

All good stuff though, anyway, come on Bolton!
