staying in the premiership is worth a lot more £££ to english clubs, than using your valuable players in a cup which you have no realistic chance of winning anyway.
i can remember last season, Steve Coppell the Reading manager, saying he didnt want his club to push on and get the 5th/6th place, (when they were midtable). because he didnt want Reading to be too spread out next season, trying to balance the premiership AND the uefa cup, and eventually getting relegated, just like Ipswich Town.

Bayern-Getafe, always the same story, we could score 6 goals in the 1st half, then in the 2nd we missed 2 incredible chances, and leave to the spanish team 2 great chances to score, finally they scored and for me they have deserved the goal, I got to be honest, this is football, klar Bayern is strongest that Getafe but they'r a good team that plays good football, so I think we are ruled out, obviously I hope to qualify but now it could be very very hard, Getafe supporters are great in that little stadium, so win the best; shame for Leverkusen, 1-4, incredible, Fiorentina-PSV 1-1, Rangers-Sporting 0-0, only Zenit is qualified, I'd like to see Bayern in semifinal with Rangers and PSV with Zenit, why not? But football is strange sometimes......
