Usain Bolt sets world record (again)

newbie original

We apologize for keeping the yellow too long
Yellow Card
So Tyson Gay sets an American record of 9.71. That WOULD have been a world record.....12 months and one day ago!

Gay's 9.71 is a hell of a lot of running... just shy of the previous world record. He has to be congratulated on a really fantastic performance. I'm also happy that Powell got over his usual big-race shyness and did fairly well in finishing third. He has never run as fast as the best times of both guys that beat him, with a personal best time of 9.72 secs which would have still seen him finish third. Bolt, though, is an absolute phenomenon.

Pfff, pretty boring when you consider the lack of competition for Bolt. The guy could've won the race running backwards.

Lack of competition? Gay would've set a world record with THAT run a year ago.

A year ago, yes. Now he was beaten by 0,23 seconds, which is an eternity in the 100m sprint. That's what I call a lack of competition.

There was no way Gay or anyone else was going to beat Bolt in this race. No one ever really doubted he was going to win. It wasn't a question if but in how fast a time he would win.

I like your math. (H)

So, predictions on the 200m? 18.50?
