Extra ingredient for Die Bundesliga-Meister Soup (sorry):

Best AMR we could possibly get. Transfer listed by request at Fiorentina, snatched him away under Manchester United's and Mourinho's nose. Ha.

Kinda tempted to make an offer for transfer listed Fabian Bryan, an American from Lille. He's a very strong and skilled left winger and can play in the centre, but we already have Avdic and Mejic. Don't think I'll do it.

Pavle Mejic was elected European's Golden Boy. Vinet potential...?

EDIT: Made an offer for Bryan, I'm just going all out for the championship here. Again competing with Man Utd for his signature.

EDIT-2: Bryan? Who's that? Bryan Ruiz? No? No, I never heard of an American player.

The Grand March

Bundesliga - fixtures 18 until 32 (the yet to be played 33-34 excluded):

Bayern (and Leverkusen for a while) kept closing the 8-point gap we created in the first half of the season with dominating performances. After consecutive losses away at Dortmund and Bayern early in the calender year (cruel scheduling), our young Lübeck players without championship experience started wondering whether we just got lucky in the first half of the season. Fear grew larger as Bayern demolished us 4-1 in the Quarter-Final of the DFB-Pokal. However, Bayern could not pull off the comeback. On the evening of the 33rd matchday we played our first potential Championship match at home versus Mainz.

Perhaps the most memorable moment of the second half of the season was away at Fürth on Sunday April 16th 2023. Heading for our fourth draw in five games with Bayern and Leverkusen breathing down our necks, forgotten talent Ibrahima Konan broke away from a set of Fürth defenders in the 92nd minute and slotted home the winner. It was also his second of the game. It may have been the decisive goal in this year's Bundesliga.

Standings on the eve of our 33rd matchday:

From Fulda to Istanbul

We made it to the final in Istanbul. How we got there? Easier than expected. On the back of Hoxha's incredible 10 goals and an Avdic brace in Madrid, we managed to win quite easily in every KO round. What a team.

The road to Istanbul:

2022-2023 Europa League Final

VfB Lübeck - F.C. Internazionale

The stage: Ali Sami Yen Arena

Line-Ups:

Ayala misses the match due to injury. Kourkoulas had a pretty stunning Europa League campaign, so I gave him the starting spot over Diaz/Zatma. I also prefer his style next to Esser.

Highlights:

Avdic and Mejic don't just deliver in the Bundesliga, but are now a force in Europe to be reckoned with.

It was quite a night for ''The Empereur'' of Milano, I say (their left back). He scored the opening goal, but then it all went to sh*t for the little Empereur. He was sent off in the final minutes of the game, kicking and screaming of grave injustice. Awesome name though.

Closing thoughts & factoids:
- Mejic finished shared Bundesliga top scorer with 20 goals. He's an absolute star in the making, expect him to command a bigger contract (deservedly so).
- Ivan Marchetti suffered some injuries since he arrived in January, but he can be a star for Lübeck like Avdic. Amazing dribbling and insight.
- We are super talented in midfield. Esser finished as the team's best performing player with a 7.5+ av. rating. Future captain of this team, I believe. I didn't have a hard time balancing playing time between Ayala, Esser (my top two), Kourkoulouas, Zatma and Diaz, but it will be tougher as they make progress. Diaz is my least favorite of the bunch, but it's up to the next manager whom he decides to go with.
- German Leverkusen defender Ransford Abbey is a dream signing for his name alone. I imagine he dresses like this (Ransford is black aswell):

How did Ewerthon do?

Is it possible for you to print screen the full squad list with apps/average ratings?

Yeah, I can make that happen for you. Ewerton was okay. He lost his starting place to Hahn early in the season, but he's been a solid third option. I didn't use him a lot in the final games of the season because he scored a bonehead last minute own goal, the equalizer, in a crucial match vs. Stuttgart. Thankfully didn't cost us the title.

Hahn hasn't been capped for any level of the German national team. Cult figure. He became Lübeck's all-time league apps leader this season with 251. His first league app for Lübeck was in 3.Bundesliga.

Also, did you guys know Alexander was born in Omsk, southwestern Siberia?

Apparently his mother was acquired from the internet by a pervy German guy, Herbert Hahn. He later adopted the German nationality and his adoptive father's last name.

Team stats sorted by apps:

Neilton spent the entire season injured at Lübeck II. It's going to be interesting to see whether he can be of added value again to the team. I say just sell him, he's still worth around 7.5M.

Team leaders (all competitions):
Goals: 26 Mejic, 20 Hoxha, 13 Konan
Assists: 14 Avdic, 12 Mejic, 11 Hoxha/Min-Kyoo
Av. Rating: 7.55 Esser, 7.51 Mejic, 7.48 Hahn, 7.47 Avdic, 7.4 Mikic/Kourkoulas

It's a fairly basic and well balanced out tactic, you can see the player roles in the championship post. It relies mostly on possession and combination football in attack, usually plenty of players are involved in offensive plays in and around the box. The Avdic-Mejic-Hoxha/Konan dynamic backed by two strong and creative MC's is pretty special to see, they didn't seem limited to their role whatsoever. Anyone can appear in front of goal and score a goal. They are also very fast and make good use of space behind opposing defenders, I think Avdic's brace in the Europa League final is a good example of that. Speed is also very important to balance out eventual risks with this formation. The two MC's and backs need to be able to haul in opposing counter attacks, which they did succesfully. I love fast teams, I think my Dukla team was the fastest and most agile team ever assembled and ever since I strive for teams like that, it's really fun to watch (I also use this tactic in my Granada game). And sometimes it just clicks unexpectedly well!

Who's going to take the Deutsche Meister into the Champions League? The pond of potential signings got a whole lot deeper as champs aswell, should make matters very interesting this summer.

Shifty, have you been catching up with the thread since your return? Drill these f*ckers into shape!

I don't have a problem with it. Everything has been tried before and you just have to find the right tactic for your group of players. You'll eventually make it your own.

Football in real life is a copycat world anyway.

I spent about 30M on getting young potentially elite full backs, but whatever. (H)

If nobody else is interested you can play 2023-2024 as far as I'm concerned.

If you had finished when you first said I'd had picked it up, but now I'm into my Sporting save again. :(

Why isn't anyone else jumping in? Az? Shifty? Sir_Didier_Drogba?
