well the fans are all up in amrs because they are protesting the use of unnecessary force by police, but mind you, they miss the fact that police wouldnt have had to be called in was it not for the fact that a good portion of Juve and Lazio Ultras where fighthing in the middle of A MAJOR HIGHWAY!!

"Mr Sandri was apparently shot while in a car outside the motorway restaurant."

Shot while sitting in his car. RIP, Gabriele.

The officer who fired the shot should be tried for his murder. The common code of law enforcement says that warning shots should be used in extreme situations, and ALWAYS fired skyward.

words from Nesta:

Milan defender Alessandro Nesta has admitted his disappointment at the situation.

"We all came out ready to play. Unfortunately, certain episodes happened with Atalanta fans trying to provoke the suspension of the game," said Nesta.

"But the problem is not inside the stadium. The problem is that what happens inside the stadium is a reflection of our society."

In other words, get your **** together, Italy.

Funny how all the games were suspended when a police officer was killed but when a innocent fan was killed by a police officer, most of the games are still played.

I understand that there might have been an abuse of authority, not that it would be the first time Italian police would be noted for that, I think they rate as one of the most abusive police forces in the world anyway, but what I am not really getting here, is that everybody is just ignoring the fact that these people where out rioting in the middle of a road, had they just been congregating somewhere, I understand the outrage, and while the unlucky individual was killed perhaps while breaking no laws, most of his colleagues where.....I think the Italian teams in the CL have had two games with no crowds because of UEFA bans on violent tifosi....

UEFA and FIFA must shoulder some of the blame. They should have banned Italian clubs from European competition and the Italian national team years ago. But they won't do it, and the situation continues to devolve.

This wasn't in a European competition nor an international game.

Alot of the cops don't feel safe anymore and think they will be targets now, if the situation doesn't calm down none will work for the Italian FA for the upcoming Italy-Faroe Islands which will be an automatic forefit if no security is in place. Then the government would have to use the local nation guard or army instead to prevent that from happening.

I was expecting to be negged for my post.
But really, how many riots/deaths or crowd trouble is there every year in Italy?
It's a complete disgrace. Afterwards they always say they're gonna clamp down on this kind of thing and come down hard on Italy. But it really just never happens.
