WC Group A: Germany vs Costa Rica

Wasn't that an offside, the second goal by CR? I hope this isn't a sign of things to come as far as reffing is concerned.

Yeah. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE CALL. I mean, it only took a billion slow-motion replays and still-shots to conclude that Wanchope was perhaps 10cm at most offside.... how the hell can the assistant not flag that, given that he saw it in real time and only once before making a decision :nape::nape::nape::nape::nape:

Very good start of the World Cup. Costa Rica were not bad, but Germany's goals...wow

PS: Does anybody have highlights from this match? I need them. :ewan:
I think the highlights were posted somewhere in this thread. Page 7 or something.

Great show for neutral spectators, but our defense gave me repeated heart attacks. FFS, Friedrich.... Bad thing is, we don't have any alternantives. Huth out of shape, Nowotny too old. Just as long as we score more than we concede...

I didn't think it was that bad really. Friedrich and Lahm looked very comfortable comming forward and Metzelder and Mertesacker didn't allow anything for Wanchope on the ball. The offside trap needs tweeking, or they should abandon it, but all in all I didn't think the German defense was really that bad. Except for the offside trap which burned them for the goals.

I absolutely agree with your sarcasm lol. A lot of people do blame them for calling or not calling offsides when the play is advancing really quickly, sometimes to quickly to call correctly. They (usually) do the best they can to call the play. I mean would you prefer them to stop play and watch the reply on a T.V and then say if they're gonna change the call? Imagine how much it would slow the tempo of the game. :jambo:
