WC Matchday 19: [PAR v JPN] + [ESP v POR]

YELLOW CARD: Untrustworthy
Ronaldo is awesome... the way he handles the ball and tries hard to create chances... too bad the other players are not there to support him.

waits to see who bytes

Been a good back and forth game so far... just need a goal.

Technically Robinho has a separate ad from the main one and he's still around. So much for leadership Ronaldo being on his bum half the time looking for a foul.

End.

Felt sorry of Eduardo, he saved Portugal trough the entire match.

Queiroz and Ronaldo, what a duo of pure ****!

Almeida was one of the best and he take him off. Ronaldo the captain put the team down instead of puting them up.

Very true. Queiroz subs Hugo Almeida who was doing a good job, replacing him for Danny who is **** and has no quality to be there in the first place, to be honest.

I don't know if the goal is offside or not, but Queiróz cost us any chance of winning it with his poor choices and cowardly play.

I think it's clear Xavi touched the ball and thus Villa was offside. Then again, I think there was really only one side that deserved to win this match.

I thought that was offside, but, Spain probably would have won anyway.

Excellent match from Carvalho, I'll settle for that.

I've watched the replays and the offside is clear, also Ricardo Costa's red card is unjustified, nice acting by the spaniard.

On another topic Ronaldo was asked to comment on the game and explain what happened and why. He merely replies: "Talk to Carlos Queiroz"

Yeah, really classy. :clapwap:

Spain deserved to win this...Queiroz is a a**!
Starting with 4 centre backs?!? R. Costa and Pepe???
I cannot understand why Miguel was on the bench...
That was not Portugal, we played so timidly, so defensive.
It was a offside Goal, but the only Team that played to win was Spain.
I'm very sad, we have good Players, but our Coach...

Almeida battled, he played good, and he puts in Danny...

The best players tonight: Eduardo and Coentrao!

Congrats to Spain, they played for the win and deserved to go through. It makes me sad to see Portugal take the Greek approach to football, nothing against the Greek team, but this isn't what suits Portugal's players and style of play. I think Queiroz got too comfortable not losing, rather than trying to actually win. I really hope he resigns and we get a coach with more of a winning spirit.

Ronaldo was the worst player for Portugal in every game, looked like he was on vacation rather than playing on the biggest stage in football.

Ricardo Costa's red card was ridiculous, but then again I don't know why he was on the team to begin with. Strange choice from Queiroz and even stranger to start him over Miguel, like ADC1987 said.

Eduardo is a warrior and a true leader, he's the kind of player who should be captain, not Ronaldo. Great fighting spirit from Carvalho and Coentrao too, my favourite players for Portugal in the WC.

oh well, until next time..

We apologize for keeping the yellow too long
Yellow Card
I thought that Ronaldo was the one bright spot. He created chances when he had the ball. He was the only Portuguese player who looked dangerous from time to time moving forward. HOWEVER, he was kept out of the game in the 2nd half and the rest of Portuguese team proved how truly awful they really are. They simply have no creativity and aren't capable of doing much. There's no way that they should have been ranked #3 in the world. Spain ran all over them.....especially in the 2nd half.

Dunga was right.....Portugal played defensively and tried to avoid a defeat instead of going for the victory. They weren't as defensive today but, despite that, they displayed that overall theme about their play for the majority of the game.

Starting XI
Doesn't matter who deserved the win, it doesn't changed the fact that the goal was scored from an offside and the red card was pulled out of the ref's ass. These things do change the course of a game.
