You are not alone.

I have no doubt whatsoever that will be Portugals gameplan. It always has been Portugals gameplan. We expect it as do all other teams. Its just a shame that until you clean up your act, Portugal will NEVER get any respect from anyone. Not other fans for sure. The Worlds media are calling your team a disgrace to football, and you are proud of that?....

Simple. The game was already stopped by the ref. It it wasn't stopped, that would be penalty and red card. But it wasn't intentional. Good call by the ref there.
i support portugal, but that's bull****. it should be a red card even if the game was stopped and it wasn't intentional.

What a game.

I haven't posted/read on this forum for a while but just reading a few pages back in this forum completely justifies that. Most of you are a bunch of total retards.

I think every slightly objective fan around the world would agree with me that it was the ref that killed this game. I've hardly ever seen that kind of a poor performance by a referee.

Portugal scored a good goal. They had one or two dangerous attacks after that, besides that I wasn't impressed. My feelings about Holland haven't changed. The only thing we've done well this tournament has been defending. Apart from that it's been poor. Attacking wise there's been no midfield. I still feel Van Nistelrooij has been the victim of failing attacking play from the midfield. We created some chances against Portugal but overall it was a bad game. I won't go into detail about the cards. The ref made a mess of it, I think we can all agree on that.

Boulahrouz's tackle on Ronaldo was disgracefull, Figo made a meal out of it later, like Van Bommel did when Figo clearly (RED CARD!) headbutted him, that handball by Portugal was tough luck, Deco didn't deserve a yellow card, and Robben had a good call when he was hit by a straight leg in the box.

1-0 Is nowhere near a fair result. Overtime whould've been fair with, due to the ref 9 against 9. But in the end Portugal outsmarted us, and fair enough, Holland hasn't played a decent (attacking) match since we've played Mexico and Cameroon in the WC build-up.

Our time will come. See you in 2008.

Good luck to England, who like Holland have been playing rather pathetic so far.

World's media or English media? Besides, I find it hard to beleive any non-biased media would single out Portugal only in this crazy match, especially when the majority of the non fair-play came from the Dutch. Any neutral with two eyes and no pre-determined predjudice would have seen that..

Portugal's gameplan, he says... I can already see it's gonna be your excuse should things go bad for England. It's funny how complaining about diving, time wasting, etc.. has been your pre-determined explanation for whenever things go bad for an English team. You'd say the same if it was the Argies, Germans, Italians, Spanish, etc... or did all of those countries become super-honourable to the English all of a sudden?

Hey Pede. Do you understand you have no morale to say such thing ? I believe you're inteligent enough to understand this. It is quite simple. The worlds media reckons England as the main source of hooligans in the planet. And you call animals to the portuguese NT because they dive (yes, they, as in your opinion every and each portuguese player dives) ?

I'm watching MOTD and the English commentators are saying that the English supporters going to laugh it up after this game.
van Basten says:"It was just a mess"
According to the guys at MOTD, they are saying Portugal's play was a disgrace so Pete's right about that  I can see the headlines tomorrow :o
The referee ruined the game is what they are saying, major losses to Portugal that Deco and Ronaldo are out. "GREAT NIGHT FOR ENGLAND" says Martin 'O Neill.
And you hoping that the Portuguese will dive for penalties, old news isn't it cause that's what they always do

likewise. You can be a really annoying twat at times I gotta tell ya, but it's good to argue with someone who knows football existed before 1997.

btw, I can't wait to read what the Portuguese coach in charge of your club has to say about this game! Should be interesting as usual.. :junior:

for me the good thing concerning the reds is: costinha's out!

at least for me it was clear that he would be sent off, so scolari should have subbed him.

miguel and maniche performances were very good. i found it a bit surprising when i saw pauleta's off for petit. portugal started playing 4-5-0 with simão and figo going to attack sometimes. that changed to 4-4-0 after the red for deco.

the netherlands changed from 4-3-3 to 3-4-3 with van der vaart for mathijsen. with boularhrouz sent off, heitinga came for van bommel and the formation changes to 3-3-3. in the end he put hesselink for cocu, making a 3-2-4!

the problem for the netherlands on the group stage was their midfielders, who only basically only defended and barely created good chances for the attack, so there was no real need to take ruud van nistelrooy off the starting eleven.

in that game against portugal, the problem seemed to be partially solved in the 2nd half -- the midfield was actually playing offensively, so ruud could be very useful (since he would not suffer from the same problems of the first matches), especially in the final minutes, when the netherlands were all attack! ruud certainly would put in that ball kuyt missed after that cross.

finally, i don't want to sound like undervaluing the portuguese players or something (much on the contrary, actually), but what a scolariesque victory that was... i know many portuguese don't like him, but for me FELIPÃO ROCKS! :rockman:

You forgot Turkey mate.

Now its funny you should mention those countries man, because they do exactly the same thing. Its a mainland Europe thing and a latino thing. Being an island we do not get so contaminated by the rest of Europe. We manage to keep a sense of fair play, and still generally frown upon those aspects of sport. Maybe its that hot sun beating down on your heads or something i dont know but you sure all think in a wierd way.
