The Germans have never defeated Italy in World Cup play and I feel the streak continues... Our "Italian wall" will not be breached due to either Nesta/Materazzi coming back. I may want to have Materazzi in the CB position for this game specifically because of his size against the very strong heading abilities of Klose while Cannavaor's job would be to shut down Podolski. Gattuso's role in the midfield should be to disrupt Ballack which he could do with his physical play accompanied by Ballack being slightly injured. I am not sure how the result will go... For now I say 1-0 Italy but if the Italians can break through within the first 30 minutes of the game then that will open up an already disorganized defense which to me would allow for Italy to easily counterattack the D. If Italy does score within the first 30 minutes then a score more along the lines of 2-0/3-1 Italy would prevail. Either way I believe Toni nets the ball atleast once, perhaps twice. Should be a good physcial matchup, but Italy vs France is the way I see the WC of 06' ending.

You gotta love how the Italian players and papers are already bitching before the kickoff. They want Frings to be suspended as the same thing happened to Totti in 2004. Cry me a river and mind your own business jeez...:boohoo:

wow.
"mind your own business" there simply cannot be more of an adult comeback than that.

and whats more i'm sorry but gattuso is the only player to say a thing about this so far so i'm not sure where the players and papers thing came from.
and even then he simply said what all italians would have thought in a polite and uncontroversial manner.
so no one is bitching even though they could do so.

That was simply directed at the Italian media and Gattuso, not at you in case you felt offended.

It was La Repubblica that published the photo of Frings supposedly punching Cruz.
Cruz himself stated that Frings didn't punch him so what more evidence do you need? Italy's acting like the complainant here even though they were not involved.

Germany will totally outplay Italy, but Italy will come out on top in the end. I'm willing to bet it'll be the same old script..

90 minutes of defending and hoping for a goal on a counter attack? :corn:

I am an American and bet I have more of an understanding of the sport than you...This bias that Americans don't know much, if anything of soccer is retarded... Our immigrant population is possibly the largest in the world and pretty much my entire Italian family are from Italy, where do you think the knowledge comes from...

Italian soccer style has totally changed of that... Just because they defend better than any other team doesn't mean they don't attack... In fact they attack quite frequently and do so at the right times, to me that's called smart soccer. It might be boring to many, but this isn't American Idol! If you want entertainment then put on MTV...

It'll be either a 1-1 or 2-2 in the match and then Italy to win in penalties.:jambo:

Penalties are normally not favorable for the Italians even when they had giants like Zenga in net with Baggio, Scillaci, Donadoni etc... Especially with the Germans looking extremely potent during shootouts against Argentina. Lehman made it seem like he was just chillen at the bar enjoying his beer... Even with the likes of Buffon, Totti, Pirlo etc... I would rather avoid the penales!

Pirlo missed a few penalties in his career. I think he missed against Liverpool at the CL final aswell, didnt he?
