WCQ: USA vs. Jamaica (rosters revealed)

xxxFLYERxxx

Starting XI
www.socceramerica.com

GOALKEEPERS -- Jon Busch (Columbus), Joe Cannon (Colorado), Matt Reis (New England), Kasey Keller (Tottenham).

DEFENDERS -- Ryan Suarez (Los Angeles), Jonathan Spector (Manchester United), Shifty Califf (Los Angeles), Chris Albright (Los Angeles), Oguchi Oneywu (Standard Liege).

MIDFIELDERS -- Pablo Mastroeni (Colorado), Bobby Convey (Reading), Brian Mullan (San Jose), Clint Dempsey (New England), Steve Ralston (New England), Ramiro Corrales (San Jose), Ricardo Clark (MetroStars), Landon Donovan (San Jose), Kyle Martino (Columbus).

FORWARDS -- Eddie Johnson (Dallas), Brian Ching (San Jose), Brian McBride (Fulham), Jeff Cunningham (Columbus).

Ryan Suarez and Ramiro Corrales:-puke:

Wheres Eddie Gaven?

Cunningham over Edson Buddle? **** you Arena!

Theres rumors that Twellman and Sanneh are on the roster, for some reason Socceramerica.com skipped them.

You've got to be kidding me with Suarez. He's had a horrible season! How about Chad Marshall, Jim Curtin, Nat Borchers maybe?

Corrales but no Gaven?

The exclusion of Edson Buddle can only be justified if it was due to an injury. I think I read somewhere on BigSoccer that Buddle is #1 in MLS in goals scored per minutes played over the last three seasons.

Pat Noonan maybe? He DID lead the league in scoring (points, not goals).

Where's Robbie Russell?

From that roster, my line-up would be:

----------------------------Keller------------------------

-------------------Onyewu------Califf------------------
---Albright---------------------------------Spector-----

---------------------------Mastroeni----------------------
-------Mullan-------------------------------Ralston------
----------------------------Donovan----------------------

------------------Johnson----------Ching----------------

The way Convey has been playing for Reading, I'm not sure I want him in the starting line-up. But if he does well in camp I suppose you can put him in as the left mid and move Ralston over to the right.

If Sanneh is part of the squad, he gets the start over Albright.

wow...is this the u.s.a. team or could i call it the international team cause you guys have so many players from other countries(suares, oneywu,corrales)...at least for me, if i was born in the u.s. and my parents were from another country...i would choose the other country...maybe its a little complicated to explain;)

Actually all three players you mentioned were born in the USA. Also, to assume players with Hispanic names are "from other countries" is idiotic considering the sizeable population of Hispanics in the USA.

Only one of the players in this squad was born outside of the USA (Pablo Mastroeni, Argentina). Everyone else is American-born and raised in US. Compare that with the French national team. I can guarantee you they have more than one player who was born outside of France.

So I basically pretty much ripped up your weak, uninformed argument to pieces and took a sh*t on it. Have a nice day. :)

there may be some that fit your explanation from skin color, but you're wrong really. 3s not that a lot, and those players proved themselves in MLS and being tested to see if they can perform internationally.

seriously dude. I'm not on your ass, but make some better posts.

You would choose a country you've never lived in and whose language you don't speak instead of the country in which you grew up in?

Yeah, I'd like to see you explain that.

what happened to Eddie Pope and DaMarcus Beasley and Brad Freidel? and Wolff?
Sorry I guess I don't follow USA soccer very closely but I thought those guys were a big part of the team?

We've already qualified for the next phase. We're resting our mainstays, and giving some other guys a look.

Wolff is going to play in the MLS Cup final on Sunday, that's why no Kansas City or DC United players have been called up.

Friedel hasn't been called up in a long time, not sure why. Beasley, along with a couple of other European-based players are needed by their clubs more than their country (since we've already advanced, as bjmenge pointed out). Pope, I think Arena is just giving him a break.
