WE9 already has more gameplay elements.

From reading information on Winning eleven 9, which will become Pro Evo 5, I have come to see that it already has more overall gameplay elements than FIFA 06. Goalies can get injured, carded, substituted by the CPU, players' can go up for headers and collide with other players', even so both players' might not get to the ball and it'll be down to someone else to retrieve it (you might even foul the player jumping in for a header). There's more and more unique players' in the game, individual A.I and animations, this also being for teams. Handballs too. There's dynamic weather that affects the gameplay and players', you can literally pick up and drop players' into position using formations of your choice and the attributes for players is a crazy amount, not just that but also hard-coded indivuality that attributes don't make no difference for, such as Roberto Carlos freekick style, same with Figo and Beckham and even down to the way certain players' pass the ball and run like Gerrard and certain goalkeepers like Barthez kicking the football further than usual.

I'm not putting FIFA down, I just know that a lot of what WE9 has already, FIFA 06 won't.

It'll take a lot of 'catching up' or insanely entertaining gameplay to come to what Konami are creating. That is if you want to feel the difference between each team, not something simply rated by a 'team chemistry' to determine how well a team will player together. Hmmm I have a strange feeling I get every year now.

I hope this year I will be amazed. I love FIFA, but the last few attempts have left me somewhat 'un-entertained', not matter how authentic it is.

And now I shall go sit in the corner and wait for the haters...I've been here a long time. I wouldn't make a thread just to put FIFA down. Personally, I want FIFA to make PES look daft. But it's difficult when that game has so much content that all points to gameplay rather then a fancy menu screen and liscensing.

On a positive note, FIFA 06 RTWC on the X360 should be incredible to look at. Hope it plays as good as it's looking!

2 good games is better than 1, so I hope both continue improving, hopefully the 360 version will have more gameplay elements. No next gen Winning Eleven has been announced for this yr.. so who knows

While it doesnt like they are ready to compete with WE yet, it looks like they have made HUGE strides this year to improve their game. A revamped career, and some key gameplay elements added/improved.

I am liking what this new dev team is doing with Fifa, and I am willing to stick by them, as long as this game is as good as I think it is going to be!

From what i read in specific pes/we forums awful lot of people are really dissapointed with the game.Automatic side step, easy scoring from long range, stupid keepers,no team specific game style(all teams are defending),lot of fouls(personally i like that)and many other problems that make die hard pes/we fans really sad and even claiming that its even worse than pes4(ofocurse i dont believe this , how we9 can be worse than the arcadey unrealistic and super easy play easy soccer 4)

ofcours some people are dissapointed with we9, cos they been playing we games for about 10 years, and its difficult for them to be happy, as they got they hopes to high. but most of the people liked the game, and don't forget we/pes needs time to learn to like the game, so we asspect complains at the beganing as it was always like that in we/pes series

NK nice post mate
i know u been fifa fan for years, as i been in this forum for years (did more reeding then posting)
sometimes people have to be moore open and give the other game a chance not just being based in only one game

the reason why many people are complaining about WE9 being crap,
is because the game has become very realistic...
people were used to the "easy" gameplay of PES4/WE8.

Now in WE9, they have to re-learn all the basic stuff like passing, tackling,
shooting, control of ball, because in WE9 it has become more realistic,
where players can make mistakes if they're not careful.
Maybe there's too much realism, and not much fun as in PES4.

Guys guys...

In Winning Eleven you have about 5 different speeds to run with the ball.... you can determine how far the ball goes when you push it.... you can perform a quick tilt with the body to confuse an opponent just before pushing the ball.... you can switch the ball from leg to leg while running.... AND THAT'S JUST ME TALKING ABOUT RUNNING IN WINNING ELEVEN.
BTW, these are all done without using the special moves buttons... don't get me started about those.

In Winning Eleven, each players has 5 different formes or 'status' based on his previous injuries, goal scoring, motivation, playing too much and other random factors. This is completely realstic. No real soccer player maintains a constant fixed level of play throughout the entire season. Don't you sometimes watch a game and say:'Rooney's just not in forme today'.... well there are 5 different formes for each player in Winning Eleven..
A player in bad forme is most likely to be injured... and speaking about injuries you have a light injury, a treatable injury, a non-treatable injury, and an injury that takes the player on an ambulance to the hospital (yes sirr).....! Players could not participate in matches for variable days/weeks according to their injuries...

I could go on and on about each single detail in the game to show how profound and amazing Winning Eleven is.

Shooting? Well It depends: which leg are you using? which side of the field are on on? which dribbling speed were you on when you shot? Is the ball coming to you or are you running to it? What is your body's angle in relation to the goal? Which angle are you intending to shoot at? What are your attributes?...And finally in Winning Eleven 9: Which side of the shoe are you going to use? (!!) This game produces an unrivaled thrill everytime you take a shot on the goal...

Winning Eleven is an amazingly unpredictable and immensly variable game to play. It is impossible -as it is real soccer- to score the same goal twice... In Fifa... hell I could score the exactly same goal ALL SEASON long.

In Winning Eleven scoring spectacular realistic and AMAZINGLY RANDOM goals is an unrivaled fun of its own... The gameplay is AMAZINGLY DEEP I can't even imagine how some Fifafan could say 'why can't Fifa patch its game with WE gameplay'...! This is literally impossible... They aren't just a couple of numbers or files that u copy from here to there. The entire gameplay engine is different and took years to develop, and if EA wants one like it, then they will also take years to develop one and they'll have to do it starting from changing their current one FUNDAMENTALY. When I made the Fifa/WE switch, I remember constantly shouting at the game 'Hey How did that happen!'... Like when a ball touches a close opponent's foot while shooting, it deflects gaining a strong relative swerve, that causes it to abruptly change direction when it lands on the ground... This amazing attention to realistic detail in ball physics is totally astonishing.

I watched the Fifa06's ss and movies and I, after a year of playing WE, was really -not exaggerating- nauseated. The way players were running with the ball... the way opponents stole the ball.... the way players shoot the ball... they were all like..umm how do I put it... a cheap computer game. It sadly reminded me of the old days. And here's a big surprise (but rather expected)... EA doesn't know what the word 'Gameplay' means...(!!) did you read their last press release? They seem to confuse the word 'ingame' with 'gameplay'... They said that 'as regards the improvement in gameplay' they worked so hard on the new cinematics and cut-scenes...!!!!!!!!!! Oh my God....

I don't really know how someone would buy a game and play it for an entire year based on how the lighting effects look from an angle he'll never use...

Fifa is sadly going down eversince Konami started shipping WE for PC platform... and I give it another year max before it is totally gone... with WE coming out on next-gen consoles, I believe Fifa will be strictly restricted to a certain 'age-group'....

I also remember last year, when EA kept saying '1st touch' in every single statement it issued... well I wonder why Konami didn't do that when it already had a far more realistic '1st touch' system 2 years before EA and a 1st touch that could be performed by the chest, head or foot.... not only that but a '2nd touch' too.. meaning, you can control a ball approaching you by 2 moves with both legs before even taking off with it.... The detailed depth that this game offers is unbelievable.

no it didnt
it was just normal :brow:

knight you are a craze little kid that believes all the hype, your making up excuses for you beloved we game,

its funny how you go on about how amasingly random pes is but yes just how bad the fact is that it feels more like the cpu is controling your players than you are :brow:

i looked at the we9 vid its basicly we8:le upgrade in all departments, not realy a 'evolution' like other pes games

what also makes me laugh is you think ea main aim is to make REALISTIC gameplay when clearly fifa 05 was ment to be a fun, arcadey game, again fifa 06 has to have a fun element in it because that pleases ea's target market

Clearly we have different definitions of fun.
My definition of fun is having a simulation soccer game, where scoring a goal is governed by a number of variables similar to the variables present in real life. I find it fun to score a real-life goal with real-life ball physics in a real life situation is soccer. That's where I find my fun.

And when you grow up and reach a certain age, you'll come to realize that Fifa no longer gives you the satisfaction you need for more than a month post-purchase. There is absolutely NO DEPTH in its gameplay. None at all. After 2-3 weeks of intense playing, you've already seen all the methods of goal scoring in the game. Of course, since we both have 2 different fun factors, hearing a hard-rock music in the background and seeing a 'cool' cinematic every here and then could mean the world to you even if it has nothing to do with real soccer.

In short, Fifa is for gamers who 'like' soccer, think its 'cool' but never actually played the game.... so they don't want a deep profound difficult game with 'variables'... they only want a fun arcady game with all the licenses like Fifa... period.

And what's that bit about the computer controlling your player? Is it because the game is so rich in animations, that the computer chooses the most suitable animation for every situation in the game? How long did you play this game? Or have u only read reviews... listen, say that WE is a sim and that Fifa is an arcade.... but don't say that most of the time the pc is controlling your player because there's absolutely no truth to that.

And wow judging a profound game's gameplay by watching a video.... amazing...
Fifa gamers are used to having a single MAJOR improvement every year on Fifa,... what most of them don't notice is that there are PLENTY of elements in need for improvment, but EA would rather make one improvement and highlight it for COMMERCIAL reasons... like the '1st touch' in 2005, the 'Off the ball' in 2004, the 'shielding' in 2000,.........crap commercial business men.

Whereas WE, every year the gameplay is almost flawless, so the improvements are MANY but MINOR... things you DEFINETLY wouldn't notice watching a 'video'.... WOW.

obviously the game improves year to year but when its plain to see that a gaame has got it wrong its very anoying

how can anyone like a game which you are ment to be actually playing but yet it feels more like the cpu has taken over your control of your team.

what pro evo used to be soooo go at was that you felt you had control over where you wanted your players and didnt have the cpu dictating everything to you, also just cuz a game has 5 different dribblin styles dosent automaticly mean its good, 5 different dribbles is plain stupid 2-3 is good 4 is pushin it and ive aleady said about five.

also how many goals do you see on pes4 that show a player neatly running past 1 or 2 players and slotingit past the keeper, why is he dribbling so poor and loose, these are worldclass players mostly and they cant control a ball, sunday leauge players i understand but not professinals.

i aint finished this post yet though

..................

the concept of a simulation is putting as much variables in the game so the outcome would be closer to reality... is that too hard to grasp??

Having 5 dribbling speeds is NOT... NOT stupid at all... it gives you much more control about WHAT you want to do with the ball... You can simply lose an approaching opponent by slightly yet suddenly changing your pace/speed.... however, an experienced opponent could anticipate this change in velocity and take the ball... and so on... MORE OPTIONS = MORE SOLUTIONS = MORE DIFFERENT SITUATIONS... = actually using ur mind while playing.

5 different dribbling speeds means 5 different momentums... And your momentum is what governs the serverity of your tackle, the power of your shot, and how easy you can suddenly change speed/direction of the dribble..... get it m8?

And if your gonna critisize the dribbling in WE then PLEASE don't... for your own sake...
There is absolutely no art of dribbling in Fifa... while in PES... with the right dribble and direction control, and with the right push of the ball, you can easily pass thru many players without even resorting to special moves... and THAT, is an art of its own.

In WE, each player has his own -customizable- dribbling style. You can id Figo from only the way he runs... And same applies to every other player. Dribbling in WE is so deep and profound, I can go on and on about it and not cover it... As a matter of fact, in WE9, players could get injured (e.g. calf muscle injury) without being tackled... but rather from running TOO MUCH for too many matches... i.e. from fatigue... as I said before, Fifa lacks any depth WHATSOEVER in all aspects of the game, including of course dribbling.

Theres no surprises that the PES/WE nerds are already on the case, bashing the New Fifa, even before it's been demoed let alone Released.. :kader:

I'll be honest and say that Fifa05 did have it's fair share of needless flaws, but at least it seems that EA have put some (thought) as well as effort, into this years game.
Nobody's saying that the finished game will be 100% Perfect. But who cares, " It's Only a video Game ".:ewan:

If i was to quote some of the stuff that Knight has written to any of my friends about PES/WE & FIFA, (Altough in some cases, being right) They would honestly tell me to go get " A Life " Or a "Girlfriend". LOL

Theres totally nothing wrong with Konami wanting to make PES a more "deeper" & more Tactical football game than Fifa.
But i sort of agree with snoppf1, in saying that, Konami need to make sure that the game doesn't dissapear up it's own ass ...
Within making the game too Deep, and too Technical by forgetting about the "Fun" element of Football ?. Resulting in a Piss boring, Game .... :jambo:

Regardless, Fifa "Still" remains the only Authentic & Fully Licensed game, of the 2.
Which also seems to retain it's Fun & Excitement, elements of the game of Football.
If i wanted to take football that seriously, i would have joined a sunday League team or something ...

Firstly, I admire & salute from what Konami's doing now in licensing issue for clubs. Get it done fast for the next WE series, Konami !!

I also notice that Konami have the 'GREAT' consistency every year to improve the game without deleting the important features. I used to complain to have the snow weather in WE series, now they have it in WE9 (finally!!) So, eh Konami, btw, where's the linesmen during the game ?

BUT, I hate to see this, they don't want to expand the national teams. In 5 years PS2 version alone, only 1 national team (Latvia) that just expanded/included in the game. I mean, come on, give me a break, I need at least 70 national teams included in the game. I love WE, but the last statement make me think to twist back to EA's FIFA 06 RTWC on XBOX 360. I don't know, maybe I'll get back to WE series when Konami can realize to put more national teams than the club teams.

There seems to be a FUN vs SIMULATION debate happeneing here.... what most people don't seem to get is that MANY.. MANY people find their fun in a simulation. And in this case, most real-life soccer players will find more fun in a simulation... If you don't need a soccer game that mimics real life football, than go ahead get Fifa which is a simple run, pass & shoot game.... It's hard to convince a Fifa fan that there's loads of fun in a simulation.. why? Because he wouldn't still be a FifaFan if he already knew/realized that.

If you noticed, this year, EA's statements haven't been mentioning 'realism' and 'simulation' any more, contrary to previous years.. instead, they have been stressing the meanings if the words 'Authentic' and 'Fun'.... which gives us the idea of what kind of consumer its targeting this year, and the coming ones as well.

i thing u guys have to wake up and see (the reality) why we9/pes5 is better, cos it plays like football, the way player pass, the way the players move around the pitch looking for a pass, the way u create space to take a shoot+ it depenc hu is taking the shot on his ability, with his right foot or the left foot, the animations, the ability plays a big role in we/pes games, u can notic the defferec of the players, let say owen is fast light weighted player, he will fall to the ground more easly with a little touch, reather then some one like ronaldo strong and fast for example. sometimes u thing u playing football yourself, cos thats exactly how i fill when i play, it gives u a great filling especialy when u understand how to play the game u would never want to put the pad down.

I gave up on fifa in 2003 in fact i havent even written anything on fifa for years, obviously the fifa series has the potential to make a great game. Maybe this will happen in the next generation of their games. For now i will jus spend my time on pro evolution soccer games, i admit it i buy the game simply based on reputation and my past experiences with the game. What can i say i like vareity in a computer game let alone a football game and EA simply dont understand what REAL football is.

I really dont know what will make me buy another fifa game, i didnt play 04 and 05, so i dont know how they pay, but going on from certain folk on here say I will make an uninformed opinion because this is what this game deserves after bringing out conistently **** games.

EA can tlk about there "first touch" and " we are in control" and so on but i see these statement for what they are gimmics an propaganda. EA for me simply dont know where they are going with their game, this why they have to try and sell their game through propaganda. where as PES/WE dont have to do this they stay true to football and jus put thier game out there and just let it sell itself
