So yeah, I left my house this morning en route to work, and as I was walking out of the sub-division exit (40 yards away from my house), this strange looking guy in this white and decrepid van pulls up beside me and asks if I need a lift to work... I don't know what's weirder, the fact that this guy whom I don't know offered me a ride, or the fact that he knew I was on my way to work. Isn't that ****ed up? Needless to say, I contacted the police after work and filed a report.

Hehe you probably did the right thing but it's just a bit ironic how he's been reported for offering to help someone get to work. Although he probably had an alterior motive by the sounds of it...

Maybe he was just being kind and offered you a lift as he had seen you walking to work before?

Perhaps. But in any case, you still shouldn't get into strangers' cars (or in my case; a van with only 2 small-side windows). I'm not going to put my life in jeopardy just so I can get to work an hour early. And my local sheriff said the guy's motive wasn't to give me a ride to work.

If I saw someone walking in the morning, I'd probably figure they're going to work...

A lot of the times when I drive in the rain and see people walking on the side of the road I feel bad for them and think I should offer them a ride... But then I don't (H)

I dont know man, the guy was probably being nice.

Society is great isn't it. First we complain when nobody is there to help us and it's so rare now that if someone does offer help you always look for an alterior motive and complain.

Not directed at you, Voltaic. It's just life in general. Pretty funny and ironic :D

heh, talking about white van men, i remember one day walking my (ex)girlfriend home from school one day and these guys in a white van drove past and started wolf whistling and randomly shouting things like "oi oi sexy!" at my gf. first of all it kinda pissed me off, but then when my gf shouted "yea! he's damn fine aint he? and he's all mine!" back at them i decided to play along and started randomly posing towards them. oh the look on their faces was pure classic.

here's my weird experience:

I was in grade 8 and I was taking the city bus home after school as I just moved and did not switch schools so my house was far from the school with no school bus. Anyways, I was sitting on the bus on one of those facing-aisle seats staring out of the window across. And the bus comes to a stop, on comes an old Asian guy with polished 70s hair and thick-rimmed glasses, looking like one of the Chinese government leaders. As he walks by me he winds up and kicks at my feet like taking a Beckham freekick. He was wearing leather shoes so it hurt like a biatch. After he had done so he walks to the back of the bus. I was completely stunned by this quick turn of unexpected events that I just sat there. The other few people on the bus just looked at me then at the retarded guy. Later on he got off the bus.

Now looking back at it, I feel unaccomplished. I should've done something.
