Readme for FM2WES Module of WESEditor 1.1.5.0
v0.1, @pubb, 2006.05.10

1. English
My native language is Chinese. My English is still poor although I’ve learn on it for more than 20 years. So, bear on it, please.

2. Goals, History, Credits and other non-tech issues
EditPES4OptionFile @kschoice had a great function to convert FM2005 stats into PES4 (now I know it’s from EditPES3OptionFile in 2004.02). But the original engine is not so good. I’m encouraged to make it better, and kschoice helped me in time. Then it came the EP4OFCMConversion plug-in for EditPES4OptionFile. That happened in the first half of 2005.
When PES5 came out, kschoice got his new plan named “PES O.F.Editor”, but he’s busy or tackled by something else. The progress is not fast. I need FM stats so eagerly that I got contact with WECN (Winning Eleven CHina), a wel-knowned patch team in China. The programmer Memphisto, the owner of the utility WESEditor helped me out. After a discontinuous 2 monthes of programming, WESEditor with FM2WES module could work. The day is 2006.05.xx.
Thanks should go first for kschoice and Memphisto, the two greater hacker in WE/PES series. Many friends in www.soccergaming.tv and bbs.winning11.com.cn gave a lot of valuable suggestions on conversion engine. I can’t list them all, but I hornor their help.
In general, FM2WES is a plug-in to enable Football Manager (@Sports Interactive) stats usage in Winning Eleven / Pro Evolution Soccer (@KONAMI) series. Then we can have a more accurate and reasonable stats.

3. Files
Necessary files:
WESEditor.exe --- the executable
WESConfig.xml --- describing the environmental information
zlib1.dll --- the zlib library
MemCard.dll --- the library to decode and encode with memcard/option file
Readme.txt --- statement for no warranty
Readme-fm2wes.txt --- this file
fmcache.fmc --- data cache holding necessary FM stats
Additional files:
KONAMI-WIN32PES5OPT --- My option file for pes5 w/superpatch 3.0, a little fixup.
wes.fwl --- My FM WES link file for the option file above, 4515 players are linked and checked (till I know)

Notes:
a.the version here is only functionable for PES5/WE9/WE9I.
b.remember, the editing target is 0_text.afs instead of the option file, but you can import/export with an option file.

4. HOWTO, step by step for the first run
a.Open WES Series
The same action as normal WESEditor run. Click 'File -> Open WE Series' and browse to select the correct PES5 executable file, PES5.exe. The information will be stored in WESConfig.xml for later usage.
b.Open FM2WES Dialog
Click 'Tools -> Import FM stats' to open "FM to WES" dialog.
c.Open FM stats Cache file
Click '1.Open' and browse to select the corresponding fmcache.fmc, and open it. It will cost quite a few seconds according to your memory size. The .fmc file is from a CSV file exported by FMScout. (see below)
d.Load a link file if available
If you have a game patch other than superpatch 3.0, just skip to the next step 'e'.
e.Select the Link Options
If you want a link process paused to show Club/Nation link result, enable this checkbox.
If you don't think the club property of the players is correct, click 'Trust Nationality'. The Search process will then search the FM players with the same nationality before searching the ones with the same club.
f.Go link
Click '2.Do Link'. Along with the processing bar, that'll cost a bit long time according to your CPU ability.
g.Adjust the links manually
fm2wes can't know all the wrong-spelling and mixedup names of clubs/nations/players. And the names between the two games usually are not the same. So you have to correct them by hand.
All Club/Nation/Player links can be adjust manually in 'Match Status' dialog. Double click the entry in 'FM Name' column to get a combo box, choose the correct matching one in the dropdown list.
For players, only the non-free players (ie. the players in a club or as a national team member at least) are shown. Every player in WES except for classic ones is tried to be linked. But they may not showed out here.
All columns can be sorted by clicking the column headers. It can help to find the 'no link' or 'big distance' ones.
If you are sure there's no matched entry for the WES item, choose '---'; if you can't find it in the dropdown list, click 'more...' to open a detailed dialog to look for it. The columns are sortable here, too.
h.Save the Link Result
Click 'Save Link'.
i.Hide the FM2WES Dialog
Click 'Hide'. 'Clear' will clear the loaded FM stats and the link file, so be careful.
j.Check Your Teams
Click the left tree to show status of the teams and the players. In the player's tab, you will see the FM link. If it's not correct, just click the edit textbar to change.
Remember to 'Save Link' if you do changed some.
k.Convert to FM stats
If you are sure of the link results, open the 'FM to WES' dialog again, and click '3.Convert'. It will convert all linked players' stats to FM stats. The unlinked players' stats are untouched.
l.Save it
To save into the 0_text.afs, click 'File -> Save WE Series'.
To save into an option file, click 'Tools -> Data Manager' -> Export to memcard'. Then browse to select an option file. Right click in the 'By Player' tab and click 'Select All' in the popup menu. Click 'Export' button and 'OK' button, then all data with the players will be stored into the selected option file. Other information in the option file will not be changed.

5. SHIFT Functions
There're a few 'SHIFT' functions built in the program.
a.Open a CSV file with data exported by FMScout.
When '1.Open' a FM Cache file, you can also select to open a CSV file. The file is in format of 'FMScout v3.30 -> Export' function. Remember to choose 'All columns' in FMScout.
This function can help people who like to play FM2006. You can generate your own club in FM2006 into WES to play on court. Of course you have to edit your WES option file to enable your team.
Loading from a CSV will cost a long time, just be patient to wait to see a 'Save as' dialog jumping up. You will be prompted to save the data into a named 'fmcache.fmc' file for later use.
b.'SHIFT-open'
When clicking '1.Open', hold 'SHIFT' to enable WES stats exporter function. It will generate a WES stats CSV file. It contains of all the players in FM cache and is helpful for you to create new players in WES patching.
c.'SHIFT-save link'
When clicking 'Save Link', hold 'SHIFT' to enable 'save as'. The normal 'Save Link' will do saving on the file you specified in 'Load Link' or the last 'Save Link'.
d.'SHIFT-double click'
When you return from 'more...' player choosing dialog with one selective, the dropdown list will be shortened. Then double click the combo box while holding 'SHIFT' will generate the original list again. It's helpful when you found yourself wrong in selecting.
Also, the link edit textbar in the PlayerInfo tab can be 'shift' clicked.

6. Enjoy it before WE10/PES6 comes
Maybe we will continue to support WE10/PES6, but I say 'maybe'.

no, it doesn't.

I installed your option file but was getting blackened uniforms and issues with mapping my gamepad (Airflo renamed to Logotech Dual Action).

Any thoughts as to why?

But, I also have to go through all the weird team-names and say which team they are manually ?,.
And when i'm done, will they change ?

pubb

wow, i see.
you have to use one of the 'real name' patch, such as superpatch 3.0.
or, you can 'import memcard' with weseditor, from a real-name option file, before you see the real club names.
remember, to 'save' before you quit.

This is an Excel file format table, with almost all players' stats converted from FM2006 patch 6.0.2. Please give your comments about the stats. Before kschoice's editor comes out, if you like, you can and have to edit your favorite team(s) by hand according to the stats list.

Hi Pubb. Exist any way how conwert this table to using in your weseditor? Or can you please make cache from FM2006 patch 6.0.3 with all players from Czech Republic?

1000x thx ;) for answering and your brilliant editor :rockman:

Sorry, I've no FM2006 on hand and I'm short of time now. Maybe you can ask somebody with FM2006 for help.
