What Has Happened This Year?

Forgive for writing this. I do not intend to point my finger at anyone, because everyone who is some kind of modder does it without getting paid, and can freely choose to do or don't and i fully respect that!

But one question has hit me this year. What has happened? This year we are seeing few or none editors, no stadiums, no tutorials etc. I see some people starting up BIG projects (which i bet won't be ready before Fifa 17). So what is going on? Are people tired of Fifa? Or are we getting to old?

Well maybe its just me!?

Cheers and keep on modding for Christ sake 😎

(Y) this is right and why i break to make faces are what I believe most is this forum is ungrateful , it allways gives 5 or 6 facemakers and 10,000 requests , nobody will help to make faces or Stadiums , only requests , and because I have no desire for this game and Forum , on fifa 14 all 2 days Comes a new facepack with many faces and this year ? lol :)

I actually believe that there are a lot (including myself) that would like to help. But as in my case the talent of modding just is'nt there. Then there is not much else to do than make requests?

Every year on every game forum there are less and less modders, and more and more people who only log on to download mods and post requests. It's the same thing this year on the PES forums. You just have to look around the forum to see why. People will start threads asking for something because they can't be bothered to spend five minutes searching. People who are that lazy are not going to spend days and weeks learning how to create faces or use the modding tools.

That's because the new generation of gamers don't want to edit the game when they just can ask and download whatever they want.
We grew up in an era when internet was limited and there were very few things available, so we had to edit the game by ourselves. However, the younger gamers found that they only have to enter in the web and download what they need, so they never had the desire to learn and edit the game.
As we become more and more older, there will be less modders, because there won't be young people to replace us.

Let me throw my .02 in this. I think another reason the forum seems less active this year and also last year is because the game is not pirated as easily as 14 was. I don't even think 16 has been pirated yet. If you look at the 14 forum, it's pretty active for a 2 year old game. Also, as has been said alot of the modders here are older including myself and real life catches up to you. This year I have alot less time for modding and when I have free time I'm splitting it between actually playing for once and then working on my patch stuff. Another reason could be the lack of a Creation Master-like tool this year. While I've done all my editing basically all manually this year, a tool like CM15 would've been a huge help and speed things up. Still hoping we get a tool like that this year. If not, oh well. Just gotta make do without it and use some good tools like shawminator's file explorer, DB Master, etc....

The point on pirating is a good one.

Personally, I think a franchise such as FIFA with games released every year will always suffer a lapse at some point. I picked up 15 late and I was half-way through editing when 16 was released. I personally don't feel like I've got my money's worth out of 15 yet so I'm not touching 16 until I have. I only browse these forums to peak at GP mods and stuff.

Maybe more and more gamers are turning to consoles, especially for these types of games. EA/Konami never spend as much time and detail as they do on their console ports so us PC enthusiasts always end up with a rushed, half-ass'd version. It's definitely true of Konami although not so much with EA in recent years. Still feels cheap and nasty compared to the X1 and PS4.

what js21 says is right. In past years, with every game, the set of modders that worked on the previous installments of FIFA would carry forward on to the next, on top of that, they'd be new members interested to join the modding scene too. But since FIFA15 hasn't got a you-know-what and most members here are probably just looking for that, they'd just stop modding altogether.
The other issue is the increase in the system requirements for the game. FIFA14 could have played on a farely low end PC too, I remember playing it on a PC that had lower specs that even the minimum stated requirements. But the same wasn't applicable to FIFA15, which is why some more were left behind. So this year, rather than seeing the forum's community shift forward, we've been divided into the 3 major sections, those who can only run FIFA14, for whichever of the 2 reasons, those who can only run 15, I presume there's only one reason for that, and the "who are able to run" / "have" FIFA 16.

That's true, many modders don't actually buy the game, and some others (like me) live in countries where the original game isn't sold. The only way to get it here for example is from some stores that sell Origin keys, which are mostly located in the capital city.

You can get it online right? like from g2a or similar sites. That's where I buy my keys.

Now I'm 23, I've a steady job for two years, more and more friends and girls, it's all HAHAHA

Unfortunately you're seeing the difference...I'm releasing just Magistas and Superflys, even less kits, tracksuits, stadiums or other kind of shoes, but I swear that I give all my best for this forum without asking anything :)

I don't feel enough experienced on this forum to speak up but I'll try. I was making kits for FIFA 06 and 07, simply because EA's kits sucked a lot. Much more than today. I've come back to modding after a long break, because almost 10 years ago it gave me a lot of fun. Now I'm 23, I got a job, still studying but I'm doing my best to keep modding :) All modding sites need new faces, fresh modder to live. On polish sites situation is similar. Two sites died, one is still running, but active modders is a few today.

The community is dying.

This is what laziness does, bangus hit the nail on the head.

I agree.

No new people interested in learn...

Too many console players...

This is the beginning of the end.

Disagree with the 'laziness' arguments. When people ask questions on this forum, they are usually met with contempt and dismissiveness. Then they learn nothing and lose interest.

This has gotten better recently and I genuinely applaud the efforts of those who tried to be more welcoming. I think its probably too late though.

yes i agree with bangus there have said everything
certain person does not say thank you but make request,
believes that work fall from heaven
example:
French forum on my old well still be ten times and tutorial does not explain when (I'm nasty, pretentious)
but ten times as explained in the post (results: finish for me French forum)
can be more encouragement to modder, more thank you and politeness
