I could make kit wrinkles once CG Explorer is able to extract the Jersey Normal map files. I've been trying to put my hands on light, grass color files too. But they are compiled shaders that requires programming skills to edit/ open the files. We need programming talents to be able to edit the graphics without the use of "Sweet fx, Reshade, etc" which cant do much change.

Disagree with the 'laziness' arguments. When people ask questions on this forum, they are usually met with contempt and dismissiveness. Then they learn nothing and lose interest.

This has gotten better recently and I genuinely applaud the efforts of those who tried to be more welcoming. I think its probably too late though.

Well it depends on how you look at it. I usually answer most queries but when people ask the most obvious questions it does get to our nerves, regularcat once told me "God helps those who help themselves", there's a lot to that quote that may seem on the first glance. People ask questions that were answered in the same thread that they're posting, heck a lot of times, the answers on the exact same page. A lot of the new members are being lazy. I was once a newbie too, but I read through the forums, I took my time, I spent nearly 2 months reading through the forum even before making an account, and I don't mean 24x7, I might have spent like 15 minutes in day, 20 minutes tops. One other guy on another thread said "I don't have time to read through threads", that's just being lazy, and there's nothing we can do to change that, spoon feeding them will only encourage more of this behaviour. And if people only want to be spoon fed, then they're not going to get too much help anywhere, let alone the forum. I spend a lot of time going through the forums offering support and I only like to support those who seem to have a genuine query or those who seem to be trying to help the community or have at least taken some effort to try.

When you go into a store, do you spend 30 minutes looking around for the item that you're after or do you ask the nearest customer assistant?

If anyone comes in here and says they've never asked for help anywhere then they're lying.

The beast of a website that is Stack Overflow makes it almost impossible, you'd think, for new members to go in and ask the same old questions. You click on "Ask a Question" and you get taken to a search page. You have to acknowledge that you've read everything before continuing on to ask a question. You start typing a question and hundreds of similar ones will spring up. With all the stringent checks, do you think the moderators of that site don't have to close and remove dozens of duplicated content a day?

Being rude and abrasive to new members isn't going to encourage them to return.

Linking them to the subject matter they're looking for takes about 10 seconds and is a lot easier for regular users to find. Hell, you can even throw in a "Here's your link but next time make sure you use the search button"

The way to create a community is with generosity.

I see the rules at the top of the forum.

Does anyone actually read rules before posting in forums? Haha I don't even read the instructions to s**t I cook. I just rip the packaging open, throw it in the microwave and nuke it until the smoke alarm goes off.

In a store, the video games are usually sorted in their respective categories, so it wouldn't take too long to find them. I search for them if they're categorised, I don't feel the need to ask people unless the games weren't sorted. And in such a case, I'll ask one of their employees, who gets paid btw, to help me out. That brings me back to the forum. We do provide links to people and say the "do a search next time". We do provide solutions as well. But when some members just come in and ask in their first post in a new thread, "I neeeddd baaarca kits now pllllllssssss" How can you not be annoyed? I'm not saying that either of us are right, just that we are not as extreme as people claim. People never notice the times when we are nice to people and offer support.

This isn't a well designed forum. The UI is clunky and dated. The search function is pretty limited. It's no one's fault. It's just been around for a while and a face lift would be a huge undertaking.

People often mistake not being able to find something or not knowing what question to ask (that latter one is FAR more common than you think) for not giving a shit to look around.

Learning the jargon is probably as important as learning the process. And it is damn near impossible to learn the jargon without asking a couple of questions.

There are stupid questions. We should answer them. One day you'll have a stupid question to ask too. It might not be about FIFA, but wouldn't you hope that whoever answered you was willing to take the time to help out? There is always someone behind you on the learning curve and it matters how you treat them.

That said, and I say again, some of the people I was most upset with in the past for angry vitriolic posts have seemed to make a really concerted effort to improve that lately. That's fucking awesome. Genuinely.

and modding learning must be done gradually, often new modder ask questions too quickly without any knowledge
how to explain to someone how to add a league with his teams manually if it does not know to add a kit? is impossible
and a universal forum with many different language, do not think that new interface will change problem
example simple loocking tread of fidel
is very good in english langage Now done with google translation in French becomes unreadable, and that I do not think anyone can improve his
which can lead to the stupid question and may discourage certain person
personally, Team have always answered my questions as politely even if sometimes question stupid

I agree that the UI is quite outdated, but everything is still clear enough at least in terms of getting information. Need to find out how to install kits, here's how one should think:

1. I'm doing this for FIFA16, Enter FIFA16 Forum
2. I'm Editing FIFA (Description of Forum available). Enters sub-forum
3. I need info about Editing Kits, enters subforum for kits.
4. I need to ask a question about it, 1st thread in the forum is titled for Q n A's, use it.

The info is all there, people are lazy, I can't say they aren't.

Even if they don't have the information they need, there's a Forum rule to avoid spamming in multiple threads, you find that too, that's just being overly impatient and you can't work like that in a forum. You can't learn anything quickly, you spend time for everything. If you could, learn everything quickly, you wouldn't spend 10-12 years in school and 3-5 years doing higher studies.

This is a Forum, and forums are meant to teach you something, I can say this forum has taught me a lot, I've mentioned this several times in other discussions, I had no clue about how modding works, I knew nothing about Photoshop, I didn't even know what the software looked like. When a freind told me about the forum, I spent a bit of time whenever I was chilling to look through people's work, see what was possible, see how to do stuff, learn the norms of the forum, and I did so until I felt I was ready to become a member and start my own thread. And in the space of just 4 years have earned the right to be one of the moderators. That took time too. Everything takes time, and if you're impatient and don't want to wait, then you won't get anywhere.

Again, I'm not picking sides here, the thread's topic seemed to have switched from 'Forum Inactivity' to 'Blame the Moderators', so I just felt the need to put my opinion forward.

I know how much the moderators do here, and after becoming one myself, I've realised it's a lot more than can be seen. Managing such a huge community is hard, but we still take time out of our lives to do it.

We're not heartless in any way. We're just doing our job. Answering every incorrectly placed thread will only encourage more people to post incorrectly.

In my opinion as I previously stated, it is only because people do not have the new game and probably don't have any intention of purchasing it. From what I see, that is the major reason.

That's because the new generation of gamers don't want to edit the game when they just can ask and download whatever they want. We grew up in an era when internet was limited and there were very few things available, so we had to edit the game by ourselves. However, the younger gamers found that they only have to enter in the web and download what they need, so they never had the desire to learn and edit the game.
This is it exactly, 100% correct.

"You" is used in the royal sense herein.

But some of the best information on this is in the FIFA 13 or FIFA 11 threads. So someone would need to know that it still works about the same years later. The search function doesn't pick things up very well. Then add a language barrier. What does "Kit" even translate to in Danish or Hungarian (just examples, yes lots of Danes speak English). I imagine translating to English from some of these languages you would get jersey or uniform. Try searching that and see how much information you get.

Better yet, try searching the Chinese counterpart to this site (don't actually know if there is one) and see how far you get trying to find the information you need.

Once you have some knowledge it is really easy to think that it was really easy to get. Think about something you don't know. What program would you use to conduct a t-test? If someone you know suffered an MCA infarct, what happened and what should you expect for their future functioning? Where would you go to get reliable information about those things? How do you encrypt data and send it to a web server to store in a database? These answers are obvious to some people but if you wanted to start learning about statistics, the brain, or coding you would be stuck back at the beginning spending an entire day trying to answer the most basic questions. And maybe, just maybe, you might post a question somewhere hoping someone could help you out while possibly saving you hours of searching in the wrong place without the right keywords.
