No but I am guessing you could apply the same different purchase method, and he may have meant either/or.

Are PCs better value than laptops?

No they ARE PCs. That was my point. Desktop PC vs laptop PC.

As far as value goes, desktops are definitely more bang for your buck. Laptops some of the money is spent on technology that is efficient and compact.

You have to deal with viruses on Mac, that's a load of crap.

really? a friend of mine told me that when a virus comes attatched to a file the os recognize it as a unicode text, like in ubuntu, what a liar.

And as for ease of use, for somebody that isn't familiar with MacOS and has always used Windows, your suggestion of a Mac certainly doesn't meet the criteria there either.

it isn't that hard to learn, one day or two to figure out how to do the new stuff

Building a machine is usually definitely the most cost effective. I don't imagine Az has the tech nous required, so I would suggest having one built from a PC retailer, rather than getting a pre-made PC from one of the big companies.

that's why I said "if it were me", I built my PC for around 800 dolars, I asked for a gaming PC with the same specs and it costed $1500, you just need to have some skills

I've had a Mac notebook that was given to me as a gift. So many bells and whistles, yet I only use four bells on it, and no whistles.

Only buy a mac if your going to be using it to it's potential. Otherwise it's a waste of money

Macs can get viruses, actually thing can get viruses really. There are just fewer viruses since PCs are more popular, so they are pretty rare.

You should visit some good showrooms or stores of PC in your city. You can tell them for estimated amount for whatever your requiring configuration of Computer.
Normally, you can use the Dual Core system with 2GB RAM and 250 GB Hard Disk. The OS Window 7 is the best...

I remember paying $1100+ for a laptop that had 80Gb Hdd, 740 MB of ram and dvd drive. That was 6 years ago.

:( One of those stupid things I've done in my life
