That's how I am. Anyone who needs proof, look in the Member Photo Thread. You'll see photos that prove that I like to get out and party. :D

If you're the partying type, Santa Barbara is the school for you. I have a friend who went up there for a recruiting trip and she said that the school has nothing but parties all the time. :p

I read the feature about Isla Vista in Details, and that sounds like a nice place to get smashed. Have to watch out for those cliffs, tho.

As for me, right now I'm in my 2nd year at a community college. However, I don't have enough credits to pick up my A.A., so I'll spend another year there, and if things work out, I'll move to Tampa and transfer to the University of South Florida. As for what I'm gonna major in, I'll hopefully make up my mind by the end of 2004.

To Kader: just because you have a 3.4 GPA right now doesn't mean its the end of the world. You could still get in to a good school. As for the money thing: APPLY FOR EVERY F*CKIN' SCHOLARSHIP UNDER THE SUN!!!

man... my teacher told me I need 8 years of Uni and then another 4 of Chiro College :(

Your teacher's full of ****. 4 years of undergrad, 4 years of grad. And if you need clinicals or residence then that's extra (although you probably won't because chiropractors aren't really doctors ;))

Kader: I had a 3.5 in high school and I'm at one of the best schools in the country; probably top 5-10 for public schools. Test scores sometimes count more than grades, and if you take challenging classes that helps.

My final year average at midterm was 85.0 and fell to 83.6 at the end of the school year. I had the luxury of only taking two OAC's for 3 straight semesters because I was ahead in credits.

My OAC final marks were: English(87), Calculus(86),Chemistry(83), Finite(75), Comp Studies(83), World Issues(88)

My last semster I took Calculus and World Issues so those marks came down from an 85 to 83.6.

You'll get into most schools with an 80% average, might have a chance with 75%. In your worst case scenario, apply for something like Psychology which requires an average of 65% and then change your major after first year. Don't take core courses and take all electives first year so you can transfer your credits.

I agree that you should avoid Comp sci. like the plague.:D I wish had someone telling me to make that choice now.

The girls at york are really good, and if your in the right classes you'll meet a few of them. Take electives like Geography, Italian, etc. and you won't regret it.(Y) Classes like programming at York are filled with nerds who are only interested in counterstrike and programming. I'm not trying to promote a stereotype but I've witnessed it myself.

York is good for sports aswell. We play pick up soccer 3 or 4 times a week at the gym which is massive and when the new national Tennis centre is complete we are supposedly allowed to use the practice courts. Ice gardens is nearby and shinny hockey is only $10 for 4 hours.

Worst thing about York is the parking. It's $276 a semester so if you have a car your gonna have to pay $552 a year just to park.

seems like u got the same exact calculus mark as me... and i beat u in com sci (86).. but other than that, u're killing me (more like im killing myself) b/c my average is about 75... and it's going down for sure... so im really worried bout not gettin into a uni

It definitely helps. I've taken just about all Honors or AP classes in high school and it looks good on your transcript when colleges look at it, even if you get C's (which I have my fair share of) :crazyboy: . I've got a 3.5 - 3.6 GPA and got accepted to a pretty good school (Cal Poly Pomona) but I chose to go to somewhere else. If you take challenging classes, have a pretty good GPA and do well on your SAT's, you can into a good school.

Yeah, but what's stopping me is the money factor... even though my parents have the money, they're still being cheap

I've taken ib biology (B), ib english 9 (A), ib english 10 (gonna have an A)... next year I'm gonna take AP U.S. History... I was recommended for IB English, but I can't be assed anymore... I am considering AP english though since i've heard it's less work.

Well, when I was first going into university I asked the same question about what I should take if I wanna be a physician. Everyone I asked (including a representative from the McMaster Medical School) said I should take anything I want. Of course, knowing I have to write my MCAT, I am taking biology and chemistry. Apparently I also need calculus and physics, but from what I've heard its mostly the OAC stuff on the MCAT from those two.

As for chriopractor, I'm guessing getting into Kinesiology would be a good choice. Everyone I know in Kinesiology goes to York, so definately look into that.

Not only that but of you interview well that can count more than anything. I was middle of the road as far as GPA and classes were concened. I did have a really good SAT score but the interviewer liked me because I didn't drone on about the same old things. I even told him that I didn't wan't to stay all four years at Sac St. but it was only a stepping stone so I could get into a better school. Now because of what I have done this year in school I can go almost anywhere I want. So make sure you interview well too. If it comes down to you and some other kid who are even on grades and test scores and all that it goes down to the interview and that does hold some stock.

Your marks are great. I got into University of Toronto with lower grades than that during the double cohort year, so you should be fine (just keep it up and don't get too lazy, especially in your last year...).
