WHy did it crash after 6 full seasons??

I just finished my sixth season with Man United, was about to start the seventh with the Community shield and CRASHOLA!!! There was an exception with FIFA06.exe at offset 00323C31???? I have installed lots of patches but played all six seasons perfectly well and now this? Any ideas?? Anybody else have this?

Nobody has had this......here is a list of the stuff I've done to my FIFA

1) Official EA Patch
2)Ambient Sound Patch
3)Added Career Any Team Patch
4)Increased ticket revenue patch
5)Added a Ruud V Nistelrooy Face
6)Added Render Rate Mode= 2
7)Added a Cristiano Ronaldo face
8)Added 21 New managers
9)Added FIFA unlocker to A.profiles
10)Added MattB's Roster Update
11) Added 5 of Billys chant packs
12) Turned CPU subs on



Oh and I added about 3 more of Duongs faces ...Neville, Ibrahimovic, Baros

The only thing I most recently changed was setting the CPU subs to =1 between last offseason and this latest one where it crashed??? ANybody know about that offset and the specific error??

The Fifa06.exe tends to crash with those errors when something doesn't fit into it's memory, try to remember the last things you installed, especialy graphics, before the crash occured.

I bet it's 2GF faces, reconvert them to 1GF, open the t21_xxx_0.fsh file with EA graph, extract the t01.bmp file, change it to 256x128 in a graphic program (even paint should do I think), reimport them back in the t21 file with fshtool and then import the faces back into the zdata files. I always had problems with 2GF faces and now it has become a second nature to immediatly reconvert them to 1GF, those 2GF ones always crash my game.

No, I dont think that the problem. If I remember correctly those Duong faces are alreeady 1GF, and the few others I added I specifically converted myself to 1GF. There were two things that changed most recently....the new Duong faces...and later during the last season I turned on the subs....I just went into the ai.ini or wherever and changed it to =1.......was I supposed to do something else to have that take the right effect?

Does your game always crash during substitutions only? or randomly? using same team? or all teams?

None of the above. Here's the situation. I applied a bunch of patches as per above before I satrted the career. I added a few as the first few career seasons went by (graphical). Had some problems with some graphical issues thanks to some 2GF faces which I rescaled to 1GF and then everything was fine. Played another 4 or so bug-free seasons, six in total. During the sixth season the only thing I chaned was changing the CPU_SUBS or whatever in the ai.ini (if memory serves me) to =1. Thats it.

I satrted the seventh season, pout some people up for loan, made a bid on a transfer, adjusted the squad...then tried to play the opener, The Community Shield game against Middlesborough. When I click "Necxt Match" screen goes black for a second then says that Fifa06.exe encountered a probelm and gives options to send error repoort blah...blah..blah...gives offset number: 00323c31

I tried to get the full technical snapshot that you can look at but it never gets downloaded to a temporary .txt file, so I can't access it...I tried to get it..cant cut and paste either.

It also did that to a saved tournament and another saved Career that I had played but a few games on. I can play a new tournament, I can still replay the saved replays, but cannot continue in any saved career or tournament???????????

This should not cause any problems. Try if everything else fails to remove the line to see if this has any effect on your saved careers, but I doubt it.

It sounds like a database problem, where the database fails to create/regenerate new players to replace the old ones that retire. I have no clue how to prevent this from happening, if you use CEP try to send a pm to Ockham he should know more about that specific problem.

Are yuo 100% sure that your fifa.db wasn't changed by a patch? Here's a rather drastic solution : take a backup of the d.teams file in your my documents/fifa06 folder, then delete everything in that folder save the a.settings, you should now be able to restart careers bug free compatible with the new database.

I have the dutch version of windows and Fifa installed so it could be a different syntax, check a directory D.SQUADS maybe and A.PROFILES

B and C contain your saved career(s) and tournament(s) respectively, if you can t reload those there is something changed in your fifa.db by either a patch or an edit you did yourself with either the CC or Fifadata or something similar.

I have neither Creation Center or Fifadata so I never touched those. The patches I listed above...do any of those change the fifa.db?

where is this D.Squads anyway you're talking about???

The only thing I remember doing recently was using Filemaster to open the cinfig.dat, exporting the ai.ini and common.ini or whatever so I could see the gameplay settings, then I changed the subs bit in the ai.ini and dropped it back it. Played the whole sixth season then crash at the cxommunity shield of the seventh......weird.

About the CPU do SUbs....it wasn't a line I added...it was already in there I jusy changed the setting from 0 to 1.

Viewing your list of patches I see none that affects the fifa.db, well for the managers patch I don't know but I suppose it just replaces the generic manager images by RL ones so yes, it is weird.

I do see however more than one that change the config.dat file, maybe that could cause an incompatibility in a started career with the old settings that at some point (seventh season) can't resume with the new settings, other than that I have no clue what could be happening.

As I wrote in CEP thread:

Regarding the career problems segnalated on career as I wrote many times the problem with career is the CPU management of transfer: EVEN the original game has these problems, after the 6/7 year of career, so you can imagine how much these problems are increased by the huge amount of new players that CEP involves.

Not having touched fifa.db is evident enough that this is verified. Best solution, for me, is tweaking career.ini.

Ockham, thanks for offering your opinion, when you say tweak career.ini, will that fix the career so that I can continue to play the career that is , as of right now, broken, or will tweaking the career.ini fix something so that it won't happen in future career I may start?

Also, what tweak should be performed on the career.ini??

Yeah, the CPU subs is obviously a tweak to the congig.dat since I extracted the ai.ini and then replaced it after changing the CPU_ SUBS TO =1 whereas before it was =0.

Hello Dave,

Thanks for contacting EASPORTS Technical Support regarding the FIFA06.exe error offset 00323c31 that you have received. When including several different non-EA created patches, you will oftentimes run the risk of developing a memory leak (which is what this error offset is). This leak could be something that any one of the additional created patches may have initiated and just took a certain amount of accumalated game play or time to come to fruition. Without know more specifics about the third party patches imported into the game and their installation order, I can't be any less vague about the cause, I'm afraid. Unfortunately, troubleshooting this issue is not possible as it would require full access to the patches but more clearly, several of the patches are not EASPORTS created and thus not supported by technical support.

I hope that I answered your basic question and thank you for your patience.
