I bought FIFA today, but before I did I made a deal with my friend, that I would buy FIFA and if I don't like it, he will buy it from me for the price I bought it for. So, I went out and got it..............
I turn it on, the intro movie is absolutely the BEST intro to any game EVER. Then it asks me to play a classic match, i skip that because i want to play vs. my friends.
Then, time for the first match vs. my friend. I pick Bayern of course, and he picks Arsenal. The intro before the match is fantastic. The nice stadium view + the crowd is absolutely awesome. At this point I'm pumped up with all the stuff I saw in the intro movie and the atmosphere in the overall game......
Kick-off. right off the bat I pass it around to see if the passing has changed, and it has, a slight bit. The Ping Pong is still there most of the time, but at least you can pass it and it will go into space and not directly to your target 100% of the time which is a plus. Then i try a little dribbling, and it feels good for the most part, you can move around freely and it feels like you have total control, I really liked it right from the start. The shooting still SUCKS. I mean not all your shots go into the upper 90 all the time like the previous versions, but it still sucks. They have decreased the pace of the shots a little, so it's not an absolute ROCKET anymore. The shots just have a weird feel to them, they don't feel like real shots. All in all I was very happy the first 9-10 games. I told my friend that I wasn't going to sell it anymore that's how happy I was. But, after some time, the same old repetative goals, the same old repetative shots, the same old repetative attacks. It got boring before ONE ******* DAY even ended. I started feeling very tired of the game very soon. Don't get me wrong, this is the BEST FIFA ever. It beats all the other FIFAs by miles. But after 9 or 10 games I just didn't get excited scoring anymore. Every goal was the same. I am very dissappointed because I wanted a game that can keep me happy at least until WE 9i comes out but unfortunetly, it couldnt keep me interested for one whole day. And please don't come at me with the 'you WE fanboy' 'fanboy this, fanboy that', because let's be realistic, who doesnt want a game that has full lisences to almost every team in the world? I surely do. I would love it if FIFA had a great gameplay because then I would be teh happiest person in the world. FIFA has a great presentation, from the intro movie, to the classic teams, to the highlights of different leagues that you can unlock, all that is very very good and any true and passionate fan of this great sport should admire that. But, when it comes to the most important thing, which is actually PLAYING the game, FIFA kills it. No emotion whatsoever in anything that you do. I found my self going back to WE 7i (because my cousin is still borrowing WE 8i) in no time. I am dissappointed, but happy that I will get my full refund because my buddy will buy it from me. I gave it another try and it was amazing for the first 10 games but it failed to keep me interested. Thank you fifa and come again. Since it's the best FIFA so far, I give it a 7/10. There is hope however, it is slightly improving. Give it until maybe 2008 and I think it will blow us away, but for now, Winning Eleven is the way to go for any true fan of this sport, who actually likes their heart beating out of their chest while playing a great simulation. If EA is smart, they will hold on to the lisences as long as they can, because if Konami get their hands on it, FIFA will not exist. I hope Konami gets the lisences though becasue they will surely use it to the fullest. If you're gonna diss my review, don't bother, I could care less. i just wrote this to educate people and give them a fair review so that they don't make the same mistake as I did.
