Why should Domenech to that, only because a PLAYER wants that? (formation) Zidane is not god, man.

out of respect dude, once you select your players you gotta make 'em play in a system that benefits their style of play, if he wanted to play 4-2-3-1 he should've selected a different group of players like for example more wingers.
if you select zidane sooner or later you gonna have to use a system that favors the playmaker (classic 10 spot) role (example riquelme and argentina)

4-3-1-2 i say

Domenech deserves to be hung. He is done after this WC regardless of France's result. Zidane was pissed off with him to begin with since he didn't like the selections Domenech made. Also, Zidane wanted a totally different formation (4-4-2) that would've worked against Korea in this match, but Domenech opposed this. The decisions by Domenech are outstanding. Bringing in Trez with 3 mins of stoppage time was pure class. Next up, it's the match against Togo. Vive le France! Forever.

i agree with you about domenach. i think he'll be out. his selections and as num lock said, his formations, are questionable, sure.

this is where i think zidane and the '98 world cup players retiring will be a blessing for the fff and the next coach. zidane has just way too much influence and god-status over the team and selections. if it's true that zidane "told" the manager to select barthez over coupet, that's just wrong. zidane, or any player, should not dictate who to choose or what formation to play. but at the same time, the manager should use players and formations that can compliment his players. if you want to build around zidane, play a formation that can compliment his strengths and weakneses. from what i've been hearing from friends in france is that the manager is really out there with his own agendas.

But he's right, France should be playing with two upfront.

yep he is, we should be playing with two upfront, and we should be playing with just one defensive midfielder but i know domenech will never give in to a two striker formation just for the fact that he dislikes treze.

during the qualifiers before cisse got injured he played with cisse and henry upfront as strikers and tried to play vieira as a right wing, obviously that didn't work for vieira.

during the game that cisse got injured if i remember correctly the sub in was treze, maybe he did something while he was on the pitch or something between him and the coach happened cuz during the last mins of the 2nd half treze was subbed out (yeah a substitute got subbed....) which is really odd even for a friendly.

some people even think that he changed back to a 4-2-3-1 formation because of press pressure to play ribéry, somehow i don't think that's why he switched formations like that, or i'd like to think that he saw something that made him switch formations.

That's retarded. I don't understand what caused all of this hear-say in the France squad this WC. It's simply too much pressure to perform. I think the players themselves feel they have too much to prove to the world becuz of their past below-par performances. You can even see it in the first match against the Swiss, Sagnol was trying to do everything just so he could get his first goal with the national team. These kinds of things piss me off and it breaks the team down even more.

the team is broken it's obvious, they don't feel confortable playing anymore.

the sad part is i was reading the reports from yahoo france, lequipe.fr and watching our news and i think he ain't gonna start treze on our last group match and he's thinking about using 2 defensive midfielders in a match that we need to win by some goals to advance.

i hated how that match against south korea could've been zidane's last match, but i can't take this anymore, we need the new blood to come through. i just can't believe that ever since aimé jacquet there hasn't been a coach capable enough to play henry and treze together, if it was up to me i'd come to an agreement with arsenal and arsene wenger :ewan:

the worst part is there has to be some bad blood in the dressing room cuz raymond domenech was a decent bet for national team coach. he had done really good with the youth teams, maybe he couldn't handle the pros, we will know once this is over.

oh i've been hearing that there's a lot of bad blood and cliques within the squad (older players vs. younger players).

well...santini played trez and henry together. but trez just didn't play that well in euro2004 and towards the end of the tournamnent, got benched for saha.

If it's true that the defensive midfielders will play then we can forget about this match all-together. I'm just hoping that Friday will be a good day for France cuz it's one of the most important matches. I can't even wait for this one.

Update - Silvestre will play in place of Eric Abidal who got his second yellow against Korea.

this is the starting 11 according to domenech if no one gets hurts

4-4-2

Barthez - Sagnol, Thuram, Gallas, Silvestre - Ribéry, Vieira (cap.), Makelele, Malouda - Trezeguet, Henry

one needs to attack yet we see the two 5s (make and vieira) and silvestre who is by no means a decent lwb or an attacking one.

at least we get treze upfront with henry

I get so pist seeing that Korean goal that Gallas could have saved... instead when we needed him to clear the ball off the line, he punts the ball after when it wasn't needed

Oh, yes, and I think he needs a better left foot

Definitely. The thing that pissed me off was the start of that play. Gallas was screaming like a crackhead to the French players and then he couldn't even stop a ball that trickled in beside him. It's not entirely his fault tho..I just thought he coulda done a better job of stopping that ball from going in.
