Worst reffing in the WORLD. EVER.

Youth Team
We are playing a match, and draw 5-5. The other team say 'we deserved to win that'. The ref says 'you did win', claiming the score was 6-4. They say, 'we thought it was a draw'. We say 'ref, it was 5-5.'

So he changes the score to 5-5, and it remains as 5-5 on the official website.

This week, we find the score has been changed yet again to a 6-5 loss for us.

There were 10 goals in the game, as his original score had got correct. He wouldn't fail to mark down a goal, surely that would be too retarded even for anyone. He originally claimed we lost 6-4. This is not possible, since I know for a fact I scored 3, and my mate scored 2, and that the score was 5-5. I am not likely to get this wrong, as I, including all members of both sides, knew it was a draw. I am definitely not going to imagine scoring a goal having not done, so it is a complete certainty we scored 5.

Therefore to me, and probably any other remotely intelligent individual, it seems the only reasonable explanation is that he marked down our 5th goal as their 6th goal, leaving the score as 6-4 as he had originally claimed.

For the official score to end up reading 6-5 is utterly ludicrous, as not only is the fact they won incorrect, but he has somehow pulled an extra goal out of his arse making 11 goals in a game which totalled 10 goals. He even originally thought there were 10 goals.

I am stunned by the appalling nature of this reffing. To think he was paid for officiating that match! Does anyone have any stories of reffing incompetance that even come close to this? I seriously think it might be the worst in the WORLD, EVER! Quite lucky to have been part of it in a way, apart from the fact it lowered our league position and goal difference...

Thats beyond pathetic. What a weak minded fool: I could understand if some refs literally didnt care about the game and were doing it for free, but for anyone who gets paid and has an intrest in football, that is just baffling and sad

Its nothing even close to that, but I recall some of the refs and officials at my school are just as bad. We play on a short pitch, with 5 outfielders aside, so rules are very constrictive, as there are things like "keeper cannot clear the ball past halfway without a friendly touch" and such.

Anyway, I think it was about the first game we had played 2 years ago. The ref, this one chick, was alright, and she called it pretty fair, but she didnt do alot of running to the far side of the pitch, and some hoodied douchebag was the linesman in charge of the far side, as there were only 2 officials total. Anyway, this guy was a total knob. It was raining and he didnt want his arms to leave his sweater, so clear offsides for both sides were not called, when the ball was fought over and went out into touch, people, including myself asked him for a call, and he literally just stared back at us as if he had no idea what we were talking about. The worst of all came after we equalized very late on to make it 2-2, the other team was walking out, and some even said "nice equalizer", yet when we went to get the sheet signed by our captain, it had been recorded as 2-1. We got all uppity and protested, but the other team as well as the officials had both left. Anyway, between the two of them, they had somehow missed a goal entirely. The pitch is only about 200 feet long :| You'd think they could pay attention for just a few minutes, as theyre getting paid too.

Hehe we have changing scores in our matches all the time.......except that there aint no ref involved in the 1st place. This whole thing is just dumb. Isnt the ref supposed to note down the time when goals are scored etc etc?

I assume there were no Assistant Referees? In matches where the officials get paid, i've seen that all three officials write down the goal, first the centre ref (whilst the ARs watch the field), then the trailing AR, and then the leading AR. In that case, a simple check with the ARs would get the score correct. Otherwise, the referee should have taken care to note all goals and scorers immediately after the goal was scored to ensure nothing is forgotten.

I admit i have put goalscorers on the wrong side of my data sheet a couple times in non-competitive matches, but i have never submitted an incorrect score as 1) the ARs would have a different score from me and i could make the correction immediately, or 2) i would notice that, for example, there is no #27 on Team B.

But more fundamentally, the referee should not change his score just because a player tells him he miscounted. Even if he clearly made a mistake, he has no obligation to switch around goals just because a bunch of players say he is wrong. In such circumstances, you should contact the local association to contest the result. The referee presumably submitted a report, which should have the correct (or incorrect as it may be) score. If he counted 10 goals and submitted 10 goals, i don't know why 11 goals would turn up on the website other than a typo. Check with the association, as it just might be a misunderstanding.
