well an indirect freekick can be given INSIDE the box for some kind of minor infraction occuring within the box.

What the required condions for that to happen i'm not too sure

I have some ideas:
1. a pass back to the GK, who picks up the ball;
2. a minor obstruction offense;
3. an unintentional handball.

That's what I thought too, a minor infraction occuring inside the penalty area far away from the ball. But there was a yellow card from this so it wasn't exactly minor. Anyways I wonder what happens if the foul is called very very near the goal, like near the penalty spot. Would there even be a wall?? :confused:

Don't you remember either last season on the season before when Newcastle had an indirect free kick about 10 yards, and someone passed to Shearer who slammed it in? The other side had everyone on the line!

Yep, Shearer's goal springs to mind when talking about indirect free kicks inside the box. Was funny to watch though, that. Shearer just full hammered it and everyone on the line jumped. (H)

yeah everyone always does that like shearer did, so this is perfectly normal... the only thing is why it called it a penalty.

i like indirect free kicks cos they make footy games more intresting, who doesnt love to see 11 players crammed in on one goalline, hillarious.

Indirect free kicks cost Schalke the German title a few seasons back. They won their game, and were celebrating as Bayern Munich were only (losing or drawing) in their respective match. Late in the game, an indirect free was given and Patrik Andersson I think scored it. :D
