WTS2005 is better

I've played World Tour Soccer 2005, PES, and FIFA and by far I like WTS better. How couldn't you? More players, more teams, more leagues and divisions. Oh, and don't get me started on all the different modes and the customisation. Anyone else prefer WTS?

I think WTS2005 has a great career mode too. Actually my favorite is the Timewarp Cup. You can pick 1 of 20 classic internationally teams from the past and fight your way all the way to the Cup.

Yes, graphics could be a little better but I think it's the deepest and easiest soccer game to get into.

looked at the movie , there is no way you could pull off the Bergkamp move in any football "game". Pre-rendered movie and the way the ball left his foot (or did it even touch his foot) there is no game play in any game to date that can make a player flick the ball with a turn of the ankle "NONE" So that move could never be pulled off in a computer game "none on the market just now and not for a good few years yet" Back to goals and with a flick of the ankle? they have not made any computer game where the ankle can move .. I don't see it !!

I was into FIFA and had bought all the games up to 2004 I stopped at 2003, PES is not perfect but it is a lot better than FIFA and I don't think EA will ever get it right! If they have messed about with the gameplay again ( and gameplay was about the worst thing in FIFA titles ) then you can be sure the movies will look good but the gameplay will be the usual ... not up to scratch!

leagues, teams, modes?

did I miss something, since when does all that sh!t have anything to do with how good a game is? I could probably program that in 2 days :)

With all those teams and leagues you have the most complete list of real players than any other soccer game. I don't want to play as some fantasy dude.

And while other soccer games only have a career mode wts2005 has that plus, a challenge mode, season mode, and 4 different cups. The replay value for this game is extremely high.

I'm not telling you that you have to love it as much as me but I'm sure as h311 having a blast with this game.

PES got alot more than just a 'career mode'. It's got lots of cups, leagues and add to that the beautiful Master League.

PES is all fantasy though. WTS has real leagues. If you want a fantasy game than by all means go ahead but if you want something that actaully mirrors it's real-life counter-part then get WTS'05.

Gameplay is awesome. They added a new feature this year called a kick meter that allows more control over the ball.

Well, the game also encourages you to not play sloppy. At the end of each challenge in challenge mode it gives you a code depending on how you played. Then you take the code to 989s site and enter it in and it tells you how you shape up with the rest of the world. Everything you do determines what kind of score you get. So if you play sloppy but beat the other team by a lot you won't have a better score than someone who wins by 1 but plays gracefully with tactics.

Hey Wig, since you are a wts 2005 pro could you help me a little. I need some tips on teams and players to use. I dont feel like going through the whole list. Also do you have any tips or tricks?

I'm not gonna rip it, b/c I haven't played it. I do wonder, given Sony's demonstration that adding more clubs and players CAN be done, why Konami hasn't done it, to beat EA at their own game...

PES needs to invest in the purchasing of more licenses, IMO. They will not get the FIFA license, but given what WTS2005 has done, how much does that matter. I mean just call the World Cup the Cup of Nations, and be done.

I was thinking the same thing. Its not as if konami cant afford, although i have no idea how much such things cost, being 1 of the major players in the gaming world. I had always imagined that ea had got exclusive licensing that made it impossible for others to have a lot of real players (that was 1 of the main things making me hate them so much).
If it turns out that this is not true, that konami could get it but just cant be bothered or dont want to spend the money, they really are taking the piss.

I had WTS 2005 for a while....and played 2003 often....with a few tweaks it could have been great.

But WTS 2005 is the biggest pieces of crap gameplay wise ever.

There is hardly any collison detection when trying to take a ball away. I had a DF'r go right through a CF'r when trying to take the ball....I mean right through like I was invisible.

the only way to win the ball is to stab tackle or slide tackle...how weak is that?

You cannot play positional D with that effort.

To bad....with that fixed it could have been great.

The AI is a joke also.....My df's all watched a cf'r dribble unhindered up the middle of the pitch...not once did they try and pick him up....dreadful.

Again, I tried to squeeze some gameplay out of it but it can't be done....a shame to waste all else the game has to offer.
