Xbox Frame Rate

Hi All -

I just wanted to share with you what I learned first hand a half hour ago. I played Euro and to my absolute dismay was shocked at the poor frame rate and stutter on the Xbox.

I read in a review somewhere that there were some frame rate slow downs at times. In my opinion the frame rate of Euro 2004 could be a major concern. I rebooted the system and started over - no change. I changed to a different camera angle, still no change. Finally I started over and set my time and weather to "afternoon / clear." This change did make a big difference as suddenly the frame rates were much more consistant and almost stutter free.

My fear is that when playing in a tournament we will not be able to change the time and weather, I think it is set randomly.

I did like the over all feel of the game and I felt comfortable with the speed.

I did not purchase the game due to the frame rate issue. Could somebody verify if we can change the time and weather in a tournament game mode?

Also - Other XBOX user please share your findings on the frame rate issue.

Well I just got the xbox version and the frame rate does tend to drop whenever there is to much going on. The weather also drops the framerate. I dont think there is a way to correct this. The only way that I think this could've been avoided if EA would've developed this game on xbox hardware.

Bwahahahahahahaha! Tha game goes slow on XBox!???? That is pathetic. The developers should be ashamed of themselves.

It's so sad that the frame rates suffers like this. Personally If it were my decision, I would never release a title with a frame rate issue that was this obvious. B4 I changed the time and weather I could not go down the pitch without the game stuttering. Personally, I find this to be very sad as the rest of the game felt very good.

I kept saying to myself... "it's only a glitch, it's only a glitch... dear soccer gods... please let it be only a glitch..... Ohhhhh Crap.. it's not a glitch.

It's some kind of ridiculous a game for a console having framerate issues... well maybe the consoles have to be improved... play the games in the PC.

Weird. I was playing in my room on my tv which is smaller and had a little problem but wasn't annoying or anything.

Then I go out to the living room on the HDTV 57' inch and it was smooth as butter.

Yes juventus, at certain day times (i think the afternoon) the frame rate is excellent and the game feels very smooth. But at other times with lots going on (many players and crowds and stadium) then the frame rate drops. :kader:

I've played the Xbox version, no frame rate issues at all for me.

I assume your using the PAL version, as I am, but I've not issues what so ever.

Actually I am in the US - so I am NTSC not PAL. Has anyone looked into whether we can change the playing conditions (time and weather) for tournament matches? or can we only do that in a friendly.

official EA response to the xbox frame rate problem

http://www.totalclubmanager.com/euroforum/viewtopic.php?t=262

Hi Steven,

As you mentioned this type of issue would have been addressed during our Q&A and CQC testing labs. I can only suggest that you either change the disc via the retailer or send the game into us for testing as we have not found this on our own XBox machines.

Best Regards,

well, i think its bollocks, i seriously doubt it's a dvd problem, just poor programming. anyone managed to do a 1 for 1 exchange and tested on their xbox? try playing a ' dusk ' match in one of the bigger portugese stadia and see if there's still any frame rate drop.

Me too!

Just played through my first games and was appelled by the framerate! It was ok at first but then it seemed to drop a lot of frames suddenly. In fact it became unplayable.

I restarted and the it crashed on me.

My suggestion for XBOX owners is to stay clear of this title until EA fixes this. How this was not picked up during testing is mindboggling.

Ok...

As true and very, very loyal EA fans I honestly believe that the frame rate issues needs to be pushed righ to the top of EA canada. I am not going to pull out the big hammer and start swinging away and making jokes about the blind people who are working at the EA testing labs (area 51 - those living in the states will get that joke) or the Q and A sessions that go something like this?

Q. Team, any questions?
A. Huh?

Q. Team, Please pay attention. I'll ask again... Any questions?
A. Oh, yea. How long will this meeting last?

Supervisor - "Team. All kidding aside, Let's focus on football for the next 5 minutes."

Team member raises her hand....
Supervisor: "Alicia, yes... what is your question?"

Alicia "Is it true that Pro Evolution is headed for the XBOX?"

Supervisor - "I'm a bit ADD today, please tell me again, what's Pro Evoulution?"

Supervisor - "Oh yea. Of course PES is not heading to the XBOX, those are just rumors, how many times must I tell you? Remember what I told you before. FIFA is the only football game on the market worth playing. All others are second rate"

Adam: "Mr. supervisor..."

Supervisor: " Yes Adam"

Adam: "I've mentioned this in the last 9 meetings. There is a serious frame rate issue with the xbox version of Euro 2004.... I really think we need to ....."

Supervisor: "Meeting dismissed, have a great day"

Adam: "LISTEN TO ME!! We have a major issue here, we need to address this or we will may lose a large number of loyal fans. I suggest we......"

Supervisor: Adam. You're fired.

EA.. Address the issue of the frame rate problem. Show us that you care enough to listen and more importantly, that you admit that there is a problem with the game and fix it.

Fifa 2005 is going to be upon us sooner than later, and if we are all still sitting here with this nasty taste in our mouths..... There may be a long line of Fifa loyalists lining up to buy PES.
