nice list (loved God Of War...what a game. RE4 and Mario fit nicely)

Still my list is different from my "personal list" (IE: Super Soccer is one of my fave games ever but even I know its not "top 10")

But here they are:

- Donkey Kong Country 2 (SNES) <Easily my fave ever>
- Resident Evil 4 (PS2/Cube) <both are great>
- Zelda: Orcarina of Time (N64) <incredible>
- Winning Eleven series (especially 7 and 8)
- GTA: Vice City (PS2)
- Star Fox 64 (childhood favorite)
- FINAL FANTASY 7 (by far the #1 game of all time...anywhere.)

----- (from here its just personal taste)
- Castlevania : Symphony of night (PS1)
- Chrono Trigger (SNES)
- Goldeneye (N64) <this belongs on the list though>

Very nice list indeed. I listed personal although some fit into undisputed(groundbreaking, revolutionary) i.e: GTA IV = opened players to a whole world like never before. All about freedom, choices..... I think few would argue GTA IV being in the top 10 of all time...easily top 3 as well.

by 4 you mean San Andreas I take it. (I enjoyed Vice more but have to admit San Andreas is "superior" <though kinda boring .......not a fan of the story line <loved being in the 80s more>)

Max Payne 1&2 (PC) - Terrific and engaging story.
GTA Vice City (PS2) - This is the first GTA game I played, and also got hooked to the 80s coolness.

No, IV (4). It was the first one released on the PS2. The one that started it all on the PS2. Then came Vice City, then San Andreas. Vice was my favorite but I picked IV cause it was the first one on the PS2.

I see alot of Nintendo there. Super Mario Bros. is classic! It was what got me back into gaming actually. GTA VIce City...oh my, what fun I had...and that's that I never finished. Thought it was impossible to finish. Too hard. You could just drive around, enjoy the scenery, deliver pizza, put out fires, kill people, save people, etc. I would put it as the best all time game. Zelda, of course...a classic. Great list there.

Honorable mentions to my list are:

Joust (arcade, Atari, etc.)
Mike Tyson's Super Punch Out (SNES)
Superstar Wrestling (is that the name? with King Korn Karn, Amazon, Starman, King Slender, etc.) (NES)
Condemned: Criminal Origins (360) (made my hairs stand up....a first)
Commando (NES)

Sorry to let you know buddy, but GTA III was the first one for the PS2. I owned them all in some version. GTA I was pretty poor, but amazingly cool; I remember the first time seeing this when my cousin brought his PS2 to Christmas or something and it was just mind blowing. Of course I was about 14 and my parents had no problem with us flamethrowing people to death. After that was a GTA I expansion pack about London in 1969. Definitely cool and the true precurser to Vice City. I had GTA II for PC, but it was pretty bad game. Not much of an upgrade in graphics and just had a crummy feel. The first for the PS2 was GTA III and you see most of this now in GTA Liberty City Stories. After that was Vice City, which was basically an expansion pack for GTA, except it was a full game playable on its own. Very cool. Then San Andreas.

Goldeneye, Mario I, Mario III, Civilization II, Colonization, GTA San Andreas, CM/FM entire series, Mario Kart, Legend of Zelda A Link to the Past, and the PS2 Football series (both Madden and NCAA).

The Legend
Uniracers (SNES), Super Metroid (SNES), The Legend of Zelda (NES), The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (SNES), The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64), The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (GCN), Low-G-Man: The Low Gravity Man (NES), Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES), Street Fighter II (Arcade, SNES), Mega Man III (NES).

In no order.

Games which may make the list -- Low-G-Man: Unstoppable (Wii), The Legend of Zelda: The Twilight Princess (Wii)

Haha Shifty! You brought back some memories for me there. I remember when i first heard rumours of this "Grand Theft Auto" at school, and how violent it was (H) Not a good game, but paved the way for you know what... lol

to make it easier, i've simply included the best game from each series, obviously FF would occupy the first four slots in a proper list lol

Anyway, my list:

10. Bomberman 2 (and series) - play it with your mates, it's still as good fun now as it was ten years ago.
9. Super Mario Bros. (and series) - Can still play it now, enough said.
8. Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2 (and series) - If for nothing else but introducing me to a new genre of music!
7. Escape Velocity - Shareware game for the Mac back in the 90s, so so so addictive.
6. Pro Evolution Soccer 5 (and series, including ISS) - What would a top 10 list be without PES?
5. Twisted Metal 2: World Tour - Made in 1996, and still one of the most playable games on the PSX
4. Baldur's Gate (and series) - What a game, amazingly absorbing story. Brilliant.
3. Championship Manager 01/02 (and series) - The best and most addictive CM game to date, where would i be without CM?...
2. Civilization II - The most addictive game i've ever played, and i doubt there isnt a person on the planet who hasnt, at some point in their life, picked up a copy of Civ.
1. Final Fantasy VII (and series) - Easily the best game ever made, so far ahead of the rest it isnt even funny.

EDIT - just looked further up, Goldeneye should probably be at number 10, but for the sake of arguing i'll leave Bomberman there.

1. GTA: San Andreas - It was like a 2nd life. :(
2. Escape from Monkey Island - Might aswell be 1st. I LOVED the story and still like to start all over again from time to time.
3. GTA: Vice City - I also loved the whole 80's environment and story.
4. CM 03/04 - My first CM/FM experience
5. Pro Evolution Soccer - One year doesn't really pop out for me. I've been playing PES since the 1st.
6. GTA III - I share the 1st experiences with others on this one. Amazing.
7. The Sims - Hooked to it when I was younger. I put alot of hours in building houses and succesful families - or complete failures.
8. Gran Turismo 3 - My favourite race game. One reason I played it was to show off cars to friends.
9. Virtua Tennis 2 - Favourite non-soccer sports game.
10. NBA Live - I think I played 05 the most. Great game.

Starting XI
Here we go.

10 - Virtua Tennis 2 (DC) - Addictive. Very Addictive.
9 - Final Fantasy VIII (PC) - I haven't played VII and I know what I am missing. But the story of this FF just takes it all. And some great battles as well.
8 - Pro Evolution Soccer 5 (PC/PS2/XBOX) - Probably PES6 will take this place in a couple of months, but what the heck...multiplayer party here...=)
7 - Seiken Densetsu 3 (SNES) - Amazing RPG, has some of the hardest battles I ever faced in a game. Never released in US and Europe. We all seem to be missing something...
6 - Sonic The Hedgehog (MD) - Need I say more?
5 - Skies of Arcadia (DC) - I waited 1 year to have it in my hands. Fantastic RPG...very underplayed. Terrific story and characters, and breathtaking turn-based and the innovative ship battles.
4 - Street Fighter Alpha 2 (ARCADE/SS) - One of the simplier, yet, most addicting beat'em'up I have ever played. I am a master in this one =) I even have a video of it =P
3 - Football Manager 2006 (PC) - Dah! It was the Manager I played the most and the one I finally won for the first time the Champions League with Sporting.
2 - Metal Gear Solid (PC) - Dismisses anything to say. Best boss battles of a game.
1 - Shining Force III (SS) - From Scenario 1 to Scenario 3...the best game I have ever played. I think only the people who have played all scenarios will agree with me, that this is one of the best games ever made. Too bad the second and third scenario never came out of Japan...

just off the top of my head, when thinking of the games that gave me the most enjoyment over the years.. these came to mind first:

Diablo 2 (with Lord of Destruction add-on) (PC)
Starcraft (PC)
Wolfenstein 3D (PC)
Doom (PC)
FIFA 98: RTWC 98 (PC)
FIFA World Cup 98 (PC)

Winning Eleven 6,7, & 8 (PS2)
Final Fantasy X (PS2)

Beach Spikers Volleyball (GC)

Mario Kart DS (DS)

Sorry to let you know buddy, but GTA III was the first one for the PS2.

My bad, got it confused. Yes, GTA III. I remember my friend bringing it over as well....we must have spent 8-9 hours taking turns to see who could be most viloent without getting arrested or killed...we actually timed it too :rockman: Then I bought it and the rest was history. I even spent 2-3 hours robbing people with my bare fists and a bat...trying to see how much money I could make. What a great game.
