PES 2009 is under-rated! I was never so torn in my life on deciding which soccer game to get this year. The last game I bought was Winning Eleven 2007 for the PS2 and played it to death! My buddy and I did the 2 player co-op master league for a few seasons!

After playing both demos on my PS3, I knew it was time for an updated soccer game, but the question was which one???

FIFA 2009 has improved over time... prior to getting Winning Eleven 2007, I was a total FIFA guy! Sega Genesis onward was FIFA.

FIFA 2009 had a couple of interesting ideas such as pressure sensitive passing and the whole feeling of the player being heavier etc... The game play was definitely simulation driven and not arcade focused.

PES 2009 felt a bit quicker but not to the degree of an arcade game... I hate arcade sport games!

Graphically people think FIFA 2009 looks more "realistic" and like a actual soccer game on TV. While I agree it does... I actually think the players are small and difficult to see... I actually like the PES 2009 wide screen camera to see a lot of the field, but also see the players... Sure it may not be mistaken for a actual televised soccer game, but the graphics look good!

In the end I bought PES 2009 yesterday and have used an option file to have more real teams, cups, and soccer stadiums... I even spent a couple of hours creating my favorite team that I bet no one else in the world will create... I uploaded a photo of the emblem/logo and created their uniform... Not difficult and looks amazing!

I started the master league and decided after the first half that it was time to hit the training mode and re-think strategies since my buddy moved cross country and I will not be playing the master league alone... I realize our old strategies won't work in 1 player mode...

PES 2009 Rocks!! I give it an 8 for being fun and a solid game!

Go Santa Cruz Breakers!!

Yeah same here. Pro Evo for the next-gen is still as good as ever, but to achieve high scores and more importantly, increasing critical appreciation from magazine journalists in particular, it needs to address fundamental flaws still affecting the series. Essentially, PES is the same game it was four years ago, it just looks nicer. Thankfully, PES four years ago was a masterpiece and hence, this years version is still just as good.

I would give it a 7/10 - Overall a good game, but it can be improved,

I think it looks good and plays fairly well but i would like to see it improved dramatically as its still has some problems.
