Good Week / Bad Week
The start of this week’s Good Week / Bad Week is dedicated to Aaron Ramsey. For those who didn’t see, the young welsh midfielder suffer a horrific leg break during the Stoke City v. Arsenal match on Saturday 27th February 2010. Whilst Soccer Gaming is a video game based site that takes a light hearted approach to a number of issues, I would like to take this opportunity to wish Aaron a speedy recovery and that our thoughts and prayers are with him.
Good Week - Roman Pavlyuchenko
What a difference a month makes. At the end of January, Pavlyuchenko literally had his coat on ready to leave Tottenham. an unsuccessful spell with Harry in charge at the Lane had seen his game time limited, and his impact from the bench as a substitute in affective. Out of the 4 Spurs Strikers, and with Eidur on the way, it seemed the big Russian was surplus to requirements. Instead, out went Robbie Keane, and Roman has been literally on fire, this week being a prime example. 5 goals in the space of eight days is the kind of record that most clubs would be happy with (it has taken Bolton a month to reach this tally), and Pavlyuchenko has managed it single handedly. In a week which has seen trophies been given out and big European nights, the former Spartak Moscow man thoroughly deserves his good week.
Bad Week - Phil Dowd
I am not a big one for singling out refs. In fact overall, I believe it is a nigh on impossible job nowadays. Making small mistakes riles the crowd, making big mistakes riles everyone, and your always annoying
someone, even when your decision is spot on. But the man in the middle for the Carling Cup Final got it wrong. VERY wrong. With Gabby tearing through for Aston Villa 4 minutes in, Manchester United’s centre back Vidic took out the centre forward just as he was about to pull the trigger. Blatant penalty. Dowd sees this. Vidic was so far away from defensive cover it wasn’t even funny, yet Dowd didn’t even produce a Yellow Card. Vidic should have walked, even the most die hard United fan will admit this, and whilst it didn’t give the game to Manchester United, it certainly affected the way the match panned out. I can understand refs missing decisions and occasionally not seeing the whole picture, but to see an event and then ignore following the law to the letter is the biggest disgrace of all. Ask Graham Taylor about Koeman and the same applies. Big game, big mistake, bad week!
